I am new here and just want to say hello

I am new to your community. I am 45 years old and have successfully gone from 226 in July of 2006 to 137  but am now back up to 153. I have done ww to get my weight off but I have just gotten tired of the endless point counting  so I have decided to just  watch calories and exercise to get to my final goal of 130.

Hi everyone,

karozel, Congrats on the 2 pound weight loss!  Don't get discouraged, you are infinitely heathier now than you were a year ago when you were smoking and heavier.

I was ill last week too, fever and out of it, spent a couple of days in bed... no food, no exercising, very minimal contact with my husband or kids.  It was terrible, lost 2.5 pounds but it was a false loss, probably mostly fluid.  I guess the scale will tell the tale this week.  It felt so good to get back on the elliptical.  The sun was shining and it felt great.

justamom, I agree with karozel, list the new scale weight if it will be the scale you are using from now on.  You can't take away that you have lost 12 pounds so far!

Hello.  I'm new here too.  I was interested to see that you and I are very close in current weight and exact in goal weight.  If you come across any great advice please feel free to pass it on.  I can use all the help I can get.  Good Luck!!

HI ctmom, karozel and anyone else joining us!

I haven't been posting too regularly, but just wanted to start this Monday off saying Hi to everyone and hoping you are all doing well. Sorry to hear that you both have been sick ctmom and karozel.

Karozel you are absolutely doing the right thing be exercising and QUITTING SMOKING - that is so HUGE - I'm sure the sicknesses you have experienced are just random events; not tied to your new healthier lifestyle. Look at it this way: you'd probably have gotten sick anyway and would've been feeling worse due to the smoking, lack of exercise and extra weight. I'm happy for you that you have lost a few more pounds and stayed with your program even when sick.

Ctmom- hope you are feeling better too. Get out there and enjoy the nice weather (if it is still nice by you). Here in Arizona we are experiencing our first true heat of the season - it should be 96* today - yuck! In the summer here, 96* would actually be cool, but when it first hits I just hate it.

Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you what I did about that new scale: I went into my weight log, and readjusted ALL my entered weights (luckily I don't enter a weight every day) to show the 2.5 pound "increase". So, my log still shows the correct amount of weight lost, the trend is still correct, I just started out 2.5 pounds heavier than I had originally thought. When I went to the doctor last week, his scale showed about 2+ pounds more, but I was fully clothed, so I think the new scale is pretty accurate.

Keep up the great work, everyone, and have a wonderful week. I'm still so happy about that great health news I got last week. Thanks again for your well wishes, thoughts and prayers.

Oh yeah, I know my life style is much healthier now.  It's just ironic that both my husband and I have had a lot more colds etc this year when we both quit smoking a year ago.  Just funny...

Hope everyone had a good weekend!  Went to a friend's and played cards on Saturday night.  Want to warn you all to stay away from Bacardi Silver type "coolers".  I had 5 of them and it was over 1000 calories!!!  That plus the chips and cookies put me WAY over on Saturday.  But we had a lot of fun, and it was worth it to do once in a while.  Next time I'll stick to diet coke with bourbon though.  That's only ~65 calories per drink.  I'll know better next time Embarassed

Justamom, I wouldn't worry about the doctor's scales.  I know for instance if I weigh myself and then get fully dressed my weight can easily go up a few pounds.  Shoes, things in pockets (change, keys, cell phone) can make it even more.  Don't sweat his scales, trust your own.  Besides, the exact numbers aren't that important, just the overall loss and how you feel -- healthier!!!

Hi:

Just joined.  I am 48 years old, married with 2 kids and a dog.  I worked for 18 years before I had kids but now I am a "stay at home" mom.  I am 5'4" and 194 lbs' (just lost 6).  My goal is 160lbs.  I know that sounds heavy for my height but for me it will be thinner than I have been in 20 years.  If I reach it and want to keep going I will but for now, I just want to feel better.

I have only been on a diet once before.  I did WW and lost 10 lbs.  I felt so good I started celebrating and have been enjoying myself every since.

This site works for me because everything is written down, the calculations are done by the computer and its very difficult to "fudge" your calories that way.  I realize now that I have been doing this for 2 weeks how much I was eating before!  Its a wonder I don't alot more!
