Anyone have ideas to dress up frozen green beans?

let them thaw... heat the green beans in a med hi skillet for about 10 mins, take them out and run them under cold water to stop the cooking.  Using the same pan, slice up some onions and saute until they turn color, then set aside... chop up some almonds and heat in the same skillet for about 10 mins, then readd the onions and readd the green beans... stir and cook just enough to where the green beans are warm again...enjoy

edit:  I usually season with pepper and garlic in the final cooking stage... but it's optional

I steam them in the steamer and then toss them in a pan with a little oil and roasted garlic. DELICIOUS. I love garlic green beans.

I also use green beans as "noodles" for my spaghetti and top it with lean ground beef and some spaghetti sauce. Delicious again.

make them into a cold salad.. blanche them, leave them crunchy and cool them down. Dress them with a bit of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, low fat feta, finely chopped red onion and chopped kalamata olives. Toss together and serve. Very, very good.

Thanks everyone ..appreciate the ideas very much!

Family recipe - frozen cut green beans, can of stewed tomatoes - dump in a pot and cook until the beans are tender.  So easy!

Reduce some good Balsamic Vinegar in a sauce pan, cool a bit and drizzle over steamed or sauted green beans. Or, drizzle over anything for that matter and it will be tasty!

Creole Green Beans 6 servings

16 oz frozen green beans

5 diced bacon strips

1 medium chopped onion

1/2 cup chopped green pepper

2 Tbsp all purpose flour

2 Tbsp brown sugar

1 Tbsp worcestershire sauce

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp ground mustard

1 14 1/2 oz can diced tomatoes,undrained

Cook beans. Meanwhile in skillet, cook bacon onion and green pepper over medium heat, til bacon is crisp and veggies tender.Remove with slotted spoon

Stir flour, worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, mustard til blended in saucepan.Stir in tomatoes.Bring to boil:cook and stir for 2 minutes or til thickened. Drain beans and add to skillet.Stir in bacon mix

Heat up pan with a few spritzes of pam or other cooking spray

Lightly fry "sautee" 1 tsp crushed garlic for about 30 seconds (it burns very fast. Burned is bad. Start over).

Add frozen greenbeans

Add soy sauce to taste (about 2-3 tbsp, but more if you are a salt-fiend like me)

Either serve over rice or just straight up in a bowl and marvel at your mad cooking skillz

Sincerely,

The girl in who's oven pillsbury cookies go to die.

PS: But seriously, it's a good recipe. Try it out.

I really like to reduce some balsamic vinegar until it's all think and syrupy, then serve it mixed with steamed green beans and sliced almonds.

Green beans are really good when they're sauteed in sesame oil & garlic, then topped with sesame seeds.

I add Fat Free Italian dressing and some bacon bits. You can heat them up together or add the BB right before serving for a crunch.

For some spicy chinese style green beans:

Cook green beans as normal - if frozen you can make them in the microwave

3 parts soy sauce

.5-1 part sriracha hot chili sauce (depending on how spicy you like it)

1 part sugar (or splenda)

1 part vinegar (rice wine, white, even apple cider)

.5 part sesame oil

dash of garlic powder

Saute the green beans with this sauce blend and you'll never go back to plain green beans.

For christmas my aunt put a can of low fat cream of mushrooms soup over green beans and baked it, it was super creamy and yummy!

I just made this for lunch... sauteed onions until caramelized, added blanched green and yellow string beans (left them tender), sliced cherry tomatoes and sauteed them for a bit. I dressed up this mix with some thyme, capers and a little Mrs. Dash seasoning. I then tossed some roasted chicken breast in with the veggies and served with a side of salad with light dressing .. Very low cal, low sodium (only the salad dressing had salt) and very low fat as well.. it was so delicious and super filling!

Here's a simple one that really kicks up the flavor - just sprinkle with Thyme - maye a 1/4tsp per 2 cups.  Or Italian seasoning.  If you'd like, add a couple drops of olive oil and a tsp of fresh grated parmesean cheese.
