After several years of being so skinny and after many approaches of gaining weight, I have finally decided to try it yet again. This time I feel more confident because I have a plan and this website is helping me stick to my plan. So I'm very excited!
So far, today is my first day. My day isn't over. I still have a little less than 1000 calories to make my goal for the day. It doesn't seem that difficult, but my biggest problem right now is that I feel stuffed to my neck! I'm so full--it feels gross. I'm going to wait an hour or so before I have my big dinner, but I doubt I'll be very hungry then and I'm afraid I may not be able to sleep with a full stomach. Any good advice?
If you're currently recovering from anorexia or bulimia, which it sounds like you are, based on your caloric intake, the first order of business is to talk to your doctor. If you haven't already gotten guidance from a medical practitioner, you are very likely to physically harm yourself by eating the wrong things or moving too quickly in attempting to eat more food.
If you've already done that, congratulations! It's difficult changing your eating habits, whatever they are, and most of the work is in just enduring. You might try eating higher-calorie foods, because you'll get the calories you need without filling up so much. Also, try spreading things out. If you don't feel like you can eat that big dinner, spread it out so you eat some at three thirty and some more at six. Make sure you don't stuff yourself enough that you feel ill or don't think you can stand the sight of the food. Graze throughout the day and keep yourself moderately full all the time instead of stuffed after every meal.
Hey Kalaraish, thanks for your advice. Just to clarify, I am not anorexic nor bulimic. I don't think I had an eating disorder--I just consumed normal calories, but burned a lot more than consumed. Because of that reason, I am very skinny and I'm trying to see if I can gain more weight.
As far as spreading the food intake, I have today, but I'm still so stuffed. I feel like I ate two cows today. I guess the first day is always the hardest and tomorrow will be a better day. =-)

I know what you mean by feeling stuffed but dont worry that will go away within 2 weeks or a week. After that you will be getting hungrier.
But dont be scared its a good thing your body Is asking for food to heal the major organs you have damaged [if you had an ed].
Also, try having 3 main meals, and 3 snacks during the day it will be easier for you and will make your metabolism speed up.
ah don't worry. the feeling of being stuffed will eventually go away, believe me. I remember about two months ago when I was eating about 1900/2000 and feeling so stuffed but I can eat 2500/3000+ now without feeling a thing.

Choose lower-bulk, higher-calorie foods. A tablespoon of olive oil on a salad is about 120 extra cals and slips down unnoticed. 120cals of broccoli, by comparison, would be 13ozs!! Other low-bulk, high-cal foods... cheeses and other full-fat dairy products, nuts, dried fruits, avocados, fats of all kinds, seeds, oily fish...
So base your meals around the above list, add complex carbohydrates and proteins next and finally use vegetables and salads relatively sparingly. Energy-dense fruits and fruit-juices are another good way to add a lot of calories without adding more bulk.
