New weight graph - help us test it!
Dear Calorie Counters,
We are evaluating new technologies to improve logging and analysis and would love your feedback! This new system will allow you to:
- Mouse over points on the graph to see their values
- Get more information on a data point by clicking it
- Zoom in and out without page reload (coming soon!)
Before we make this available to everyone, we would like to get some early feedback on a new version of the weight log graph using this platform:
- Do you like the new graph better than the old one? (Once you click on the link below to access the new solution, the only way to access the old graph will be to close and reopen your browser. Therefore, if you're not sure what the current solution looks like, check it out once again before switching to the new product.)
- We've tried our best to minimize the load time, and in most cases (other than during the very first pageload) you'll barely notice the delay. Please let us know if this works as advertised, and if you experience problems, tell us which operating system (Windows XP, Vista, Mac OS X, etc) and browser you are using (Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 3, etc).
- Do you have any other suggestions for us?
Thanks for your help - here's the link to the new graph. Enjoy!
I'm using Windows XP and Internet Exployer.
I like the new graph. What I don't like is the "Trend Line", to me it's defeating, it makes me think I'm not doing as well as the weight line says I am. I really don't see the usefulness of it. I wish you would at least have a way for us to remove it if we don't want it to show.
Thank you
I like the new graph too!

Interesting point - thanks for bringing that up.
Windows XP, Firefox 3.5.2
I like it.
And to shalem - the usefulness of the trend line is that even on days your weight goes up, you can see from your trend line that the average is going down.
Edit: Worked the same on my Mac OS X, Firefox 3.5.5
Amethystgirl.....Since I've started, my weight hasn't gone up so I wasn't aware of how that would work. Thanks for the info.
Mac OS X, Safari 4.0.3
I like it overall. My suggestion is this - for people who don't log their weights every day, can they still click a point (day) to quickly see their calorie intake for the days they didn't log their weight?
I can see the logic behind not doing this, but I thought I'd bring it up anyway.
I really like it!. I have wanted to be able to go back to compare my calorie deficit (or not) from one day to another. Once I understood the trend line I have really found it usful.
I like it! I only record my weight twice a month and I've found the trend line to be the most effective way of actually seeing my long term progress. Even when the scale jumps around day to day, I can go to the trend line and see that it is angleing down telling me I'm doing fine.
Having the ability to look at food logs for the date is great! I formerly had an elaborate system to correlate times when I did the best with my food log. Now I can do it just by clicking!
Love it!
edited to add: I'm using Vista and Windows Live Explorer
I like the points on the graph, it's connection to the eat/move meter will be useful for many. I am a sporadic counter. Associating the eat meter with the posting day (if I am reading it right) would mean I should definitely post on the days I want to update .
It would be more interesting for others to have the click on numbers use point to point averaging (or is it doing that and I just didn't realize it?). It would certainly encourage regular logging.
I have a very old 1997 gateway computer that was upgraded to the max with Windows 2000 and runs both firefox 3.5.5 with ad block plus and explorer v6. If I can see and use this chart, anyone can.
looks good. Using FireFox 3.5.5 on Windows Server 2003 SP2
Vista and Internet Explorer
New graph looks good. Nice to easily be able to look up data for specific days by using the points on the graph. I also saw more clearly the time frames for my mini-plateaus. Might make for some good analyses when I get some free time.
Mac OSX Firefox
I like the connection to all the info by clicking on the data points.
I like this trend line better than the last one. I am maintaining and I usually weigh weekly. My weight fluctuates between 123 and 125 and one time I weighed after 2 weeks and the trend line made me feel bad because it was below my weight line. This has a nice average at 124. My weight line does go over it at one point, but it is not being shadowed by the trend line.
One thing I find funny is the spline curve. I went down .6 lb between two weekly points and the curve dips way below the second point. We have an incorrect tangent. lol
Vista and Firefox.
I like it. Packs a lot of data in a nicely accessible form. One thing I'd like to see is to be able to select the range of values for the y-axis (weight).
I am using Google Chrome 4.0.211.2 on Debian Linux (Kernel 2.6.92).
It works all right.
I can't see the graph. I'm using Internet Explorer, not sure which version of Windows. And I've tried closing the browser and re-opening, without it switching back to the old version. Also tried logging out and back in; no luck there, either. No graph for me.

Interesting. We do know that sometimes it may take a few seconds for the graph to load the very first time (it then gets cached and works much faster more then on). Maybe try one more time and give it perhaps up to a minute? It really should never take so long, but I just want to make sure we've tried everything.
I tried it again; I do now have the original graph back. I suppose I'll just stick with that for now....
Thanks!
New graph is interesting. I like the old graph and since its features have been retained and enhanced, I am confident that I will come to use and appreciate the new features.
On the issue of the trend line - I like it very much because it does serve to motivate me by giving me the reinforcement that I am still doing well.
I am using Windowx XP SP3 with IE 7.

Yep, we built it so that the graph will keep resetting itself to the old version every time you close and reopen your browser. Until we release it, you'll always have to access it following this link.
Good improvement. One thing I find odd - old graph has label "Nov" bottom right of x-axis while the new graph does not (labels stop at Oct), although all the data points are present (and apparently correct).
Chrome 3.0.195.27 under Vista (French - Edition Familiale Premium SP2).
Will I lose weight if I eat the same food over and over?
You can lose weight despite eating the same food day-after-day as long as you eat fewer calories than you burn. In fact, eating the... Read more
