Starting today july 21st I am going to pledge to lose 8 pounds by august 21st.

I pledge to not eat any junk food and eat healthy.

I pledge to stay motivated and exercise 3x per week.

Hi everyone! I have lost 1.6 pounds in the last 3 days. I have no clue how I am doing this. I eat regularly (actually a little more than I usually do :(.) and didn't exercise until today. So that's exciting but I know that it wont go on like this. :( unfotunetly. Well I hope everyone has a good week and I will weigh in on Saturday! (hopefully if I'm not too busy..got alot of stuff to do..its our town's day so I get to be in the parade with the ppl where I work and get to walk so ill get some exercise..its going to be hot!!!!)

Hey Ya'll, If you allow me to join you I would like to lose 8lbs this month, and help motivate, encourage and celebrate with ya'll at the same time. I am just a wee bit larger than ya'll I am a 6'2" redneck from Arkansas (stuck in Washington, active duty military) and currently at 285 lbs. (Hey I am down 63 lbs from a year ago)  

Starting weight = 285 lbs (this morning at Weight Watchers)

Finish weight = 277 lbs or less

Goal weight = 240 lbs

DREAM WEIGHT = 200 lbs (I have not weighed this since I graduted high school)

I also see that I am one of the few (if not the only) guys in this group. That's fine it's the same way at my weight watcher meetings, sometimes that's a good thing though!

Let's do this!!!

My exercise habits: I preface this by saying that a year ago I could barely do 30 minutes at 3 miles an hour!!!   Ellipitical machine 5-6 days a week for 45(4.5) - 60(6.5) minutes/miles a session, weight training (just added back in),  crunches,  biking, hiking, sports

My eating habit: Being from the South I am a definite Meat and Potatoes boy. But for now that is only once in a great while. I have cut back drastically on my calories. I am trying to stay under 1500 a day. (I average about 1400-1600). I eat plenty of veggies, chicken and fish. The weight watchers thing maybe going to teh wayside, I joined there back in March and the comradery is nice, but I no longer follow their way of tracking food. They are set up on a point system. They said that it was neccessary to stay as close to that point total as possible, well, when I did that I was gaining weight. I started counting calories (not my favorite thing to do) and found that the way I eat I was eating almost 3000 calories a day to stay close to my point value. The secret was the veggies you eat don't earn you points, but they still add calories!

welcome papa3169! for your height i think you may be consuming too little calories. I don't know if this is accurate. According to CC i should be consuming around 1400. There is no way that you should be at less than 1500 then again you were 348lbs & i was 166 and i am 5'2". So i am not exactly sure. But good luck over all and i hope the weight falls off quickly!.
Thank you for the concern Agape! According to CC with my workout habits and my height and current weight, trying to lose weight I am supposed to be eating close to 4000 calories a day, sorry but if I was eating that much I would be packing on the weight not taking it off. I have talked with my doctor and he says as long as I feel strong and not having any of the side effects (light headed, weakness, nausea, etc...) of eating to little then I should be good to go. I am eating between 1400 and 1600 calories (most days, d**n BBQ's!!!!) I eat about every two to three hours so I always have food in my system. I may have to bump up a little since I have starting working out hard again after taking a month off. (I only gained .4 pounds in that month so I am doing good) I have found that I am getting hungry quicker.

Again, thank you for the concern (you are not the first) but like I said earlier, I am not doing this alone. I am working very closely with my doctor and getting regular check-ups while losing my 100 + pound I want to lose.
Ok, ya'll, I am doing good so far today. With breakfast, snack, lunch and another snack only at roughly 700 calories. I went to the gym and hit it hard again today. I worked elliptical for 65 minutes, maintaining 150 steps a minutes, and burned 1044 calories. I weighed and weighed in at 280 even.

Keep your head up and keep working toward your goals!!!

I weighed myself this morning (i usually weigh myself on mondays but i had an urge to check it today) and i lost another 2lbs.....woohoo!!!!
Thank you sumisam and hopeful31! I can tell you this that I have been bouncing between 280 -285 for about a month now so I am going to change my strategy a little. I have been working with the doc a little and called him yesterday told him exactly what has been going on and he told me (which I was going to tell him anyway) Physically I feel fine with 1500 cals, but since I bumped up the exercise to the next level (working a little harder) my body may be telling itself "I'm starving" ssssooooooooo I am bumping up to 2000 cals a day for a couple of weeks to see if that may help. The only thing that scares me about the whole weight issue is that the family history that I do know (remember I am adopted) is that I AM THE RUNT AT 6'2" AND 280 (I was still the runt at 350)!!! Scary huh?!

Sumisam ok that's enough of those SYMBOLS, you should know I can't read those, it's like a foriegn lang or somthing. Don't worry it will come off and stay off, WE are ALL going to get to where we want!!!

Hit the gym hard again yesterday!!  I'm trying to do a min of 60mins cardio, so Yesterday I did 30mins on the crosstrainer (same as the elliptical) and 20 mins on the bike.  going to start in adding some weights again next week.

Started off well today, but did have a small relapse after lunch with a packet of maltesers. Also, I have a 70th birthday party to go to tonight - so I'm going to try and be picky about what I eat tonight!!
Great job everyone. I so far am down 2 pounds, from my lower weights. woot!woot!
