Well, I got bad news this morning I have gained a pound over the last week. I kinda figured that though. I had a busy weekend and that led to quite a bit of fast food.
Start - 285
Current - 283
Goal - 277
I am not going to let it deter me any. I will just work extra hard this week.
agape, one thing I want to point out, and the only reason why I say this is because I used to say the same thing. Muscle DOES NOT weigh more than fat. Think about it 1 pound of muscle weights the same as one pound of fat. Muscle takes up less mass. Know if you were to replace the same mass area with muscle then yes it would weight more, but if you are losing fat then it weighs the same.
tiffani, great job on the 6.7 miles. ON THE ELLIPTICAL I can get 6.7 in about an hour, ON THE ROAD it would probably take me about 3 hours to get 6.7 miles. I have bad knees and it kills me to run (hence the elliptical)
malissa, good for you a pound lost is one closer to your goal. I went the opposite this week so you are two pounds ahead of me.

Okay, I am starting today. (08-06-07)
Baseline 169
Goal: 8 lbs (09-06-07)
Plan:
1. Walk more
2. Add weight lifting 3x/wk
Hx: Husband great cook, likes to drink in the evenings, scotch and wine (not good for me because I join him in Happy Hour), travel weekly, always been short and strout (5'2''). I really want to get the weight down. Cholesterol 123 with elevated LDL. No meds yet and tendency for elevated LDL. Nurse by profession. Please provide me with support. Thanks.

wok, as I have told all of the others on this thread, I am here if you need to talk. I always try to log in at least once a day. You can still join your husband for happy hour just change what you have. Have tonic on the rocks, or lemon water. Set you mind to losing the weight and you will lose it. FIRST THING YOU NEED TO DO!!!! If you husband cook for you most of the time let him know your plans and ask if he can help you with the way he prepares dinner. Let him know lean meats, little/no salt, no extra butter, little/no fried foods. Little things like that are the hardest to control. My wife loves to add butter to everything but since I have started to lose weight she has started to cut back on that. Let all your friends know that you are making a LIFESTYLE CHANGE and ask for their support. If they are true friends then they will support you in your effort!!!
You can do this!!!
P.S. I have lost 70 pounds to date and my friends support me all the way!!!

Wow, 70lbs! You will be my inspiration. I am going to give it my best! Hardest thing is socializing as we are a very social family and entertain a lot. I know I can do it just have to be determined. I think being able to report my progress, commit to extra activity, wise choices, and portion control will help. Thanks for your response.
Just checking in for my Monday weight in report.
I'm down 6.5 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Woo Hooo!!!!!!
Start: 228 (june 4)
Current: 188.5 (today)
Goal: 175 (for the summer... sooner than I'd thought, too!)

down 2.5 lbs m 247 today and my goal for aug 21 is 239 hope to be there soon
wok, one thing I have started doing is when there is a social event I just go online and look up a low fat alternative to an old favorite. (Weight Watchers online has some good ones.) Fix teh low fat (healthier) version most people don't even notice. Two things I always get requested are a Spinach/Artichoke Dip and Brocolli Casserole. I have made these two into healthier versions by replacing ingredients. Funny thing is I have actually had people tell me the healthy version tastes better and when I tell them it's the weight watcher version you ought to see their eyes bug out. Try it and see what kind of reaction you get, I think you will be pleasently surprised.
Later, Papa

keep up the good work everyone!!!
First day pretty interesting as I had to take a client out to dinner. I did not drink alcohol but tried a healthier non-alcoholic beer with no problem at all. Also, felt compelled to offer a desert and I made a wise choice. I had sorbet rather than a rich chocolate desert. Not sure about calories yet as of today but felt good about wise choices. I also parked far from the office and took the steps rather than elevator 4-5 times. Off to a good start!

Well, I am just checking in with everyone as well. I am down to 163 lbs. I have just been watching portions and not having a nightly happy hour scotch and water with hubby. I still haven't started a routine exercise program but it's in the works. I have been doing a lot of work outside the house and I think that this gardening has helped to drop the weight as well as drinking a lot of water. Well, this week will be a test because I have an event in Oklahoma City for work with happy hour and appetizers. Wish me lots of will power! I will check back in later. Thanks for listening.
Sorry to all of you for not posting earlier this week. I have been in school and very busy for the last week. Finally done with that though. I am down a pound this week. Not as much as I hoped but with the class I was not able to work out for the past six days. I will be hitting the gym again tomorrow. So next week it should be down a couple more pounds.
Good job everyone and keep the faith. We will all make it to our goals. Will be updating more often now.
