New Year's Weight Loss Count Down... Starting September 2nd Ending December 30th...CLOSED!

Quote  |  Reply

Hello everyone, here is the Group Plan Layout.

I will be closing this after I get my first 25. I think we can get to know each other a lot better if we keep it small. It hasn't grown as big as I thought it would over night, but I am looking for more people to join.

So, 25 is the number of people I'm looking for.

As for weigh'ns. I would like to get that ball rolling as well.

Every Monday will be our weigh'n day. Starting Monday 8th.

I  also want us to share our plans for the month ahead.

Focus points will be giving monthly.

This month Focus points will be.

Water 60oz to 80oz a day.
2 Fruits per day. " To cut down on sugar cravings."
1 salad per day and Steamed Veggie. "We need veggies in our diet."
Chewing gum. To deal with those no no cravings. Just chew gum if you know you ate something just 10 mins ago. I always grab fruit- but gum does work.
Cardio every day, and resistance training twice a week.
And share your feelings when you feel you are going to jump the wagon. We need to share so we can help each other.

What is your one goal for the month? " No matter what you choose, work on that one goal for the month. It really pays off."

My one goal for the month is to get back into my cardio workout.

This is a start.

Hit the road happy, and let's make this happen.

( The rest of the story about this group is in motivation.)

Edit to add this:^

Edit on 9/23/08 I've removed the non weigh'ns and names from this list.

Name Larien

Goal Weight 110

Plan for the month: reduce sugar intake by cutting out sprite/sugary drinks and eating more fruit.

Ok Im down

Name:Crystal

Height: 5'11

Weight: as of this morning: 200

Goal Weight: 170 Hopefully before the new year

Goal for the month: Workout harder and lower my sodium intake

I'm in, too.

Name: Sarah

Height: 5'7

Weight: 158

Goal weight: 143 - 15 lbs to lose!

Just joined on Sept 1 '08 and could use some motivation. Need to be accountable to someone. My goals are just to eat this month under 1600 per day and to gradually ease into exercising again (neck injury). I used to be quite the weight lifter/cardio queen, but a toddler will make you spend less time working out :)

Sounds good!

Name: Elsa

5'7, 135 pounds, down from 155. Goal: 130--last five stubborn pounds!!

Goal for the month--exercise at least 5 times a week, and cut down on the salt and beer :)

I'm in!

  • Name: Jenn
  • Age: 22
  • Height: 5'3.5"
  • Weight: 206.4
  • Goal Weight: (180 for this challenge - 140 for the long run)

Plan for the month: To get back on track, eat healthier, have a % of 30 percent or higher for protein each day, and to get my butt back in the gym!!

I started here on CC this time last year so I wanted to start off again around the same time. I was successful and went from 265 in July 08 to 190 in May 08, but yeah, I gained nearly 17 pounds back. Nearly all of which is sour candy and fast food, I'm definitely not proud of it. But hey, I'm here now and ready to rock... woo! Laughing

I'm saving a place for these people who have already joined me yesterday.

Nice to meet you all. We have 30 people so far. Nice to meet you all. I have to save a spot for my people who has already join, and have not had time to log on and move their information over to this "New" page.

The welcome mat is still open....   :D

I'm game!  I'm trying to lose about 60 more lbs in total, and if I could lose about 30 of those by New Year's I'd be thrilled!!

  • Name: Sam
  • Age: 29
  • Height: 5'7"
  • Weight: 211.4
  • Goal Weight (30lbs for this challenge and 61.4 lbs in total, to get me to 150)

Goals/Plans:

-Eat 1750 calories a day (this is my BMR and as that number lowers, my daily goal will too)

-Burn 2700 calories a day (I burn about 2400 anyway, so just need to burn an extra 300.  I just started these new 10 min trainer videos for cardio, abs, total body, upper body, lower body, etc - about 8 different videos and if I do 3 a day, I can burn an extra 300 calories)

-Drink 3L of water every day, not counting any other drinks I might have (which isn't often anyway)

-Give myself 1 treat every night, within my calorie allowance

-Once a week, no extra workout and eat a high calorie day (about 2000-2100 calories)

I just started this new plan yesterday, so this group came at a good time.  Good luck everyone!! :D

I'm still in.  Definitely could use the motivation and support of a group.

Name: Evonne
Age: 27
Height: 5'2.5"
Current Weight: 140lbs
Goal Weight: 120lbs (I've gained back 4lbs during the summer months.  Need to get back on track).

This is one group that sounds like it could work for me a bit better then i have been doing on my own. I had to take certain meds that caused me to gain 15 pounds in a month, and before that i was on them in April and gained 5 and never really lost that weight and feel misrable

Hi everyone, I still got a little room left. Okay, I see we are on the right track. I see some good plans in here. Great job girls.

Cbphotogal, I see you have a neck injury. I have a hammie injury, and I will be released to workout next wednesday.. Starting off slow, but hey.. I feel pretty good. I walked a lap around the track yesterday, and I felt no pain.. That was good. I just hope I don't pay for that in the morning. I should be in bed, but I can't sleep. We are going to do this.. When you have an injruy, it's always best to work very hard at your diet...... Life style change in meal plans, and cut back on your calories a little when you are not working out as much. Another CC member shared that tip with me. It worked wonders. I was up by 6 pounds when I got hurt, and I lost it all just by. Upper body toning, and eating a intake of 1300 calories.  I haven't been that low in a while, but It really did help.

Kukua, I see you got your plan down pay.. Good for you. :)

Jennisonamisson, I love sour candy too, but you are going to get back on track. It's always good to reward yourself with something. I use to reward myself with a candy bar, I reward myself with a butterfinger once every 2 weeks. Rewarding myself with that helped me focus on the reward to have one every 2 weeks. Half is all I can stand right now.

Efeiring and Diva, you both have plans to watch your intake on the salt.. That's great. Since I think that's one hell of an idea, I feel I should do the same. Cut down on water weight gain.

Larienkoci, Great Idea on cutting back on sugar. My girl friend stop drinking all coke... Went into drinking calorie free green teas, and lost 10 pounds just by cutting those drinks out alone. She dranked 2Liters of coke everyday, and once she did that and added walking into her program she has now lost a total of 28 pounds, and counting. She take something from her old eating habits and change it up with something good. Chips and Dips, now Veggies and no dip. That one cut back is going to help you out a lot.

Marie_Von, we are here to help you get back on track... That's why we are here in this group to move eachother and to motivate.

I hope I didn't miss anyone, welcome and let's do this girls..

Room for one more?

Name:  Kay
Age   :  47
HT     :  5'8"
CW    :  152
Goal  :  145

I did really well the first six months I was here (50+ lbs gone) -- seem to be maintaining/plateauing for the last six months....  I just started a new job and so my challenge will be to get in exercise (I work two jobs back to back).  That is my focus.  And keeping my cals around 1600-1700 (which really has not been a problem).

Jenn (hi!!) -- I feel you with the sour stuff -- I try to make a place for a small pack of sour gummi worms (110 cals) at least a couple of times per week.  If I don't I start craving them and end up with a big pack of sour gummi worms (440 cals)...  I decided long time ago that if I couldn't lose weight will still eating those things that I find most delicious -- then it really wasn't worth it.  I really do have chocolate EACH and EVERY DAY.

Good luck to all

lynnhaslost - Thanks for the advice, good idea on treating myself, I am usually very strict with myself and what I put in my mouth, but the cravings sometimes take over which equals chaos! I think I'll add in a little packet of sour candy every 10 days or so to keep my sweeth tooth satisfied, hah.

coach_k - Hey right back!! Long time no see! Haha, that's great that you allow yourself chocolate every day. I'm not too big of a fan for chocolate so I only have it once in a blue moon. I guess I could go and buy a bag of halloween sour packets of candy and get my boyfriend to hide it and give me one every week or so, haha.

------------------------------------------

This week is orientation week for school, the workload they are preparing us for is H-U-G-E. I think I will have more motivation to get my work done this year though, because this is a field that I'm actually interested in (Autism & Behaviour science) rather than the generality of the last two years.

I have been fairly good so far, I had a wendy's chicken caesar salad the other day, and it was tasty. I only used one packet of dressing and I didn't even open the packet of croutons. It was only 310 calories for the salad including the dressing, not bad! Oh yeah, I drank almost 6 bottles of water yesterday, I was in the bathroom every 30 minutes, lol!

Some of you might already know about this site, but it has some great recipes and suggestions for healthy products: http://www.hungry-girl.com/

Anyway, I hope all of you are having success so far this month!

-Jenn

Hi Coach_K, and welcome to the group. I wish I could eat chocolate everyday.. Dark Dove Chocolate. "Love................It!" I just can't have one. LOL

Fidget_eep, Welcome to the group. Don't feel misrable at all. You are in the right spot. I was on some meds for my injury, and believe me.. I didn't want that weight gain, and I got it, but I killed it. I knocked that weight right off. Before the injury I was looking at 147, and then here comes 6 unwanted pounds. I lost that 6, and I wish I could have picked up a few more pounds-but you do your best, and you run your race honey. You hit that road with a smile, and walk off those pounds. We are going to help you knock them out.

Girls! I really want this to be the best damn support group, so you are going to see me running my fingers off a lot giving you that support and that motivation you need. I want us all to leap in here with strength and drive, and let's drive these pounds over the edge so they can drop right off. I'm here for you girls, and I know you all are going to be here for me. I have nothing put faith in all of us, and we can do anything. We just have to set our goals, and make up our minds and go for what we know. I'm happy to be in this weight loss fight with each and every one of you, and we are going to do it.

I'm still looking for more to sign up, and to sign in. We are going to start the weigh'n on Monday.

Courage is not the towering oak that sees storms come and go; it is the fragile blossom that opens in the snow. ~Alice Mackenzie Swaim

We have courage ladies, and we are going to weather the storm, and blossom once again.

Name: Hayley

Age:21

Height: 5'7 (I think? I'm told I'm more like 5'8..)

Weight: 145ish

Goal weight:130

Yeah yeah I'm sure 130 is a little light for my height (plus I'm kinda big boneded) but I'll just aim for 130 and if I get too skinny I'll stop early! I'm definitely not in this to look skeletal.

I've lost 11 pounds since the end of May 08 with CC. I haven't been counting in a couple months I think... and I've stopped exercising :[ I need to get back on track! I'm heading out to Disneyland this afternoon for the weekend and I just want to celebrate my birthday and not worry about calories, plus I'll be walking around a lot.. and my boyfriend always keeps me on track :]

So, I'm thinking baby steps. First of all, I just need to start counting again. While I work on that, I'm gonna find my iPod. Then, start going to the gym! (our apartment complex has a small one.. though pretty big for the apartments around here, 3 treadmills, 2 stationary bikes, a couple elipticals, and like 3 different weight machines) Yay :]

I would love to do this if there's still room; I've been maintaining for about four months now and I need to get back into weight loss mode. I've lost 40 lbs with this site so far and I need to get motivated again.

Name: Lauren
Age: 23
Height: 5' 9''
Weight: 159 lbs
Goal Weight : 147 lbs

My goal is to start seriously lifting weights again; I've mostly been keeping my calorie intake down where it should be but I just can't seem to lose the weight without working out. I haven't been to the gym in three months which is just no good!

Hey Lynn! Can I join your group too? I've been missing chatting with you in the 30's group that fizzled out.. I really need to get back into some motivation too. I am seeing a doctor this afternoon about my leg.. I hurt my left hip and right leg trying to do C25k, and hasnt really gotten better, so I had to stop running and now getting it checked out. Sorry to hear about your hammie injury.. that really sucks! Sounds like you are doing much better now though..good for you!

Well here i am, if you still got room-

Name: Wendy

Age: 34

Height: 5' 4''

Weight: 163 lbs

Goal Weight : 146 lbs (for this challenge~ ultimately, I have 123 as my goal weight, but not really so concerned about #, just want to be healthy and FIT :D)

My Goals for this month are to cut down on sodium, eat more regularly (I really suck at eating on a schedule!) and Counting down to the YMCA opening (September 15!)- getting a fitness plan with a trainer!

Looking forward to getting to know all of you! Lets Get It On!

Hi, Parkagirl & Wendyb27 Welcome to the group.

Wendy! I'm glad to see you again, and I hope you are well. Sorry to hear about the hip. I love running, but as I was looking into the C5K I felt that it would bring forth an injury. I've been running for a long time, and running like that too soon can bring forth injury- if you are not use to running.  I hope you get better.

Parkagirl, I'm a weight lifter myself, and I am really heavy into it. If you got any tips please share. I got a few weight training tips under my belt if you need any advice.

You are both in the right place for motivation. We are going to get the ball rolling next week, and we are going to keep this going.

We need 2 more to close this group out, and I'm a loving caring supportive person. Knowing me.. I may make room for a few more.. Last call for this group will be on Sunday, and then I am closing the doors. That will also give the others who have posted on the other page time to get here. I'm not shutting them out. That's just not me... There place will be held.

I'm still looking for those last 2, and if there is more. Welcome, and I will enjoy your company and support.

Thanks!

Hi there. So happy to have some support in this journey! I definitely need the accountability. Several years ago I was down to my goal weight because I had someone cheering me along each day. That person is no longer around so I need to find my motivation elsewhere!

Sarah
Age: 28
Weight: 150
Goal Weight: 135

My goal is to get back into my morning gym routine. It makes me feel stronger, gives me energy, and helps me eat better for the rest of the day.

Good luck everyone!

Hope you're not closed yet!  My birthday was yesterday...does that appeal to your sense of charity? Tongue out

My biggest challenge?  Binging and portion control.  I have a healthy palette and enjoy working out.  I also have a very roomy/spacious/bottomless stomach.  Ugh.  I have come a long way though, 200lbs to 144lbs.  I had a glimpse of 135 at the end of spring but fell off the band wagon.  I am excited to get back on track with this group!  I tried on my jeans from last winter...erg, a wee snug for my taste.

Tika

Age: 32

Weight: 144?

Goal weight: 125

Focus:  Stay within my calorie range!
