New Year's Weight Loss Count Down... Starting September 2nd Ending December 30th...CLOSED!

Quote  |  Reply

Hello everyone, here is the Group Plan Layout.

I will be closing this after I get my first 25. I think we can get to know each other a lot better if we keep it small. It hasn't grown as big as I thought it would over night, but I am looking for more people to join.

So, 25 is the number of people I'm looking for.

As for weigh'ns. I would like to get that ball rolling as well.

Every Monday will be our weigh'n day. Starting Monday 8th.

I  also want us to share our plans for the month ahead.

Focus points will be giving monthly.

This month Focus points will be.

Water 60oz to 80oz a day.
2 Fruits per day. " To cut down on sugar cravings."
1 salad per day and Steamed Veggie. "We need veggies in our diet."
Chewing gum. To deal with those no no cravings. Just chew gum if you know you ate something just 10 mins ago. I always grab fruit- but gum does work.
Cardio every day, and resistance training twice a week.
And share your feelings when you feel you are going to jump the wagon. We need to share so we can help each other.

What is your one goal for the month? " No matter what you choose, work on that one goal for the month. It really pays off."

My one goal for the month is to get back into my cardio workout.

This is a start.

Hit the road happy, and let's make this happen.

( The rest of the story about this group is in motivation.)

I'm back again before I call it a night. Didn't get my 2nd workout in, but its all good.. I'm beat. Just got back on to add. How do you all feel about a 2nd weigh n during the middle of the week?WinkLike Wednesday.. Come back to me on how you feel about it, and we will start this sucker next week. If you like. I feel a second weigh n during the week will keep us focus at the prize here, and we will get to where we need to be in no time. Plus we can keep the weight in check like this. 2 weigh ns will have us focus a lot more on what we eat during the week, and watch or diet closely. Do you want to give it a try?

WOW on a regular work out day I'd burn close to 500 cal; it takes me abt an hour on the stepper to burn 500 cal! no way, not in my wildest dreams, or ideal world where i'd have more time to work out than to work lol

since i have very few control over what i eat - usually i'm stuck wt finding good options among not so good ones - i will be eating clean when i get back for sure. As in 100% clean , as it should be: nothing processed, nothing loaded wt salt

It's our anniv today but we are both busy. I'm working until hubby gets back from work and we are spending a day inside, watching soccer. Romantic, huh? LOL the weather is crappy and will be getting WORSE :( gah! I want home where it's warmer lol

Happy anniversaryWink I'm happy for the both of you.. CONGRATS!

Well, I burn on my regural workouts a day extra with the burn I do have going on in a day is around 2400 cals, and on my double up workouts.. My highest burn was a few weeks back, and I was in the gym twice that day, and came out with a 2710 calorie burn.. Now that was the best icing on the diet cake.. LOL. Well, I'm just tossing ideas around. One to vote on. You are in for the clean eating. That's cool. So I will count

1 vote for clean eating. Well 2, because I am on board with the clean eating too.

Thank you. Well, except the days on our vacay when we'd walk for 6-8 yrs and burn close to 1000-1500 cal depending on the speed and terrain, i don't think i'd ever burned more than 500-600 cal during a workout; Granted at 120s ...it's hard to burn a lot of calories lol and it's also hard to keep the weight down!

Hubby just called that he's getting to the hotel so we have all the PM (ok from 5:30 pm until we go to sleep) to enjoy each other.

I am up for the perfect eating challenge, and possibley the learning to run challenge.

I sat down last night, after my workout, to make my November Game Plan.  Here is what I came up with:

Name of the Game: Quest for Kara's Sexy Figure

Exercise: Cycle for 45 minutes 2X per week, Walk for 1 hour 2X per week, Strength Training/Toning for 45 minutes 1X per week, 10 Minute Yoga routine 4X per week

Nutrition: Breakfast-oatmeal and 1 scrambled egg, Morning Snack-yogurt, Lunch-Salad, Soup, or Sandwich, Afternoon Snack-fruit, fruit cup, or raisins, Dinner-Protein, whole grains, and veggies, Evening Snack-low calorie jello, Other- Add Wheat germ where possible, 60 oz of water per day, and take daily vitamin.

Karabsbg, you have a nice program going on and I love the name.. Sexy Figure leaped out at me.. Love it.. Good positive view on what you are doing, and where you are going.

As for the perfect week. My perfect started weeks ago.. Thanks to a few of my friends who has tried it. One of my girl friends did a perfect week after I did it here in another group, and I felt I should bring this to the board.

My first run gave me a 3 pound lost. ( Then I changed to an zig zag the next week and gain back 1 pounds.) Then I didn't do it the next week, and still gained a pound.

Anyway~ Kerry my CF did it, and she was loving her fast results. She worked on burning an extra 500, because you already burn around 2100+ calories a day just being mobile. Adding Taebo to that giving her around an extra 400 burn per week gave her a weight loss of 2.5 pounds.

Perfect week one for her was 1200 calories with high loads of protein and water. She had target the calories she needed eat per meal and snack to total up the amount we would have per week. The plan was mapped out Sunday night, and it starts on Monday ending on Sunday.

Now she is eating an extra 160 calories this week.

So! I am giving her plan a try, but I work out a lot harder than she does, so we figured I need to eat around 1400 or 1600 calories, and I am doing a perfect week at 1400 calories this week. Eating a serving of protein/ carbs/ fats/& fiber. Plus an added pepper... Cheyenne to that with 2 of my meals. Lunch and dinner. So far. I've been sweating up a Storm.

We are just giving numbers a run to see what works best for us. That's how you should go into your perfect week. Plan your week on sunday, and know what you are going to eat down to your measurements.

So far so good for me. Takes a lot of the guess work out of it. I did't do so good on Monday, but I did stick with 1400 caloires.. Even with the chicken BK sandwich and fries. I still did fair, but I could have went back to get my own packed lunch that I left here at the house. I have to be more careful.

I love your plan, and I hope the perfect week will help you out. Your plan looks great, and I wish you nothing but the best with your program.

Lynn, Thanks for the advice.  Planning in advance is something I need to accomplish because my schedule is never the same two days in a row.

I have been able to get back into the exercise routine again and am feeling great after just two workouts.  I still need to research some running programs so that I can get the slow start I need and be able to stick with it.

Thanks again for all of the information.  Have a great day.

Karabsbg, you are so welcome ...... anytime...

Today, is a day for new beginnings.. Let's bring in the new year right.

I know you are going to make it to the finish line. We are....Wink

Played bowling today :) First time ever HeHe and i burned little over 160 cal YAH! Well it felt great considering i haven't exercised in more than 10 days...[that's not counting you-know-what-kind-of-exercise]

Also logged what I ate [aproximately of course, usually rounding UP] and I'm close to maintanence range but both me and hubby want to start a sort of fast...and SOON! So we are on the look out for veggies and fruits lol He said he's got a belly and while my pants feel exactly the same i look kind of "puffy" when i look in the mirror...

So time to buckle up :)

Weighed this morning.... weight still up.... dont even want to tell you guys, but yah scale still says 185.... i dont know what happend, i'm pretty bumbed! I upped my cardio workout this morning and i will be cutting cals for a couple days to see what happens.... oh yah and i am drinking a ton of water, i think i might have taken in to much sodium recently and so i am trying to flush it!!!

BOO, not pleased.....Frown

Okay, I know this is a foolish question (Yella), but when was the last time you changed the Batt in your scale. You should have flushed that sodium out of your system by now. Drink some Green Tea, and water for the rest of the week, and see what happens with that. I really do believe you need a new batt. I change mines every every month. I know it's not running that much juice, but I do change that batt every month, and I have gotten a new scale a month ago, and is ready to change the batt. My trainer at the gym said.. It's better to be save than sorry. Always put your scale away.. High out of your son reach. That's why my scale was breaking all the time, because my kids was playing with mines when I wasn't looking.. So be safe, and do not..... Let this get you down. 185 is just a 3 pound up for you, and I really do believe it's not any (fat gain, but a gain of something, and I really do think this is a scale problem now...) You should have leveled out. TTOM! Is she rounding a corner or something. (? your food when you eat out. Always ask for no added salt in your meal. You can judge your own salt better than they can.)

Just hang in there. This is going to pass.. Just check the batt and weigh yourself again on friday.... (In undee's) , and see what you get... Be a good girl, and do nothing bad this weekend.

Okay 148 weighn on Monday, I am down to 146 as of this morning, and I've been eating protein around the clock, and staying on track with my diet.

I've been eating 2 meals with spicy... Cayeenee pepper twice a day. Lunch and Dinner.. Just a few shakes, and I am drinking water and eating my meal. Sweating my ass off a few mins later.. That's been some help, and I've been doing cardio all this week. 2 days of weight training, and I will be heading to the gym later on...

I wish all of you good luck.. We have only a few weeks to go before the new year is here, and I hope to be at 140 or under that by the new year.

i second that question. whenever my battery is abt to die, it gives very weird readings....

Yesterday i got both my brisk walk in and my veggies! Ended up at McD - abt 40 min RT from the hotel - and got a Mediterranean Salad (145 cal wt low-fat dressing). Got one in the fridge for lunch as well.

At home I don't set foot in McD but here at least I know what I'm eating and that I can get my veggies in. I was sick and tired of the cucumbers and tomatoes at the hotel (i still have them for breakfast though)

roughly i had abt 1200 cal yesterday YAY!

I am sticking to my Monday weigh-in so I dont' have anything to report in that department.  However, I do have a pre-weekend report of my "Quest" progression.  I have done okay with my nutrition part, I just need to get the left over Halloween candy out of my office.  I am lagging behind in the exercise department.  I started the week off strong, but the past two nights have been late nights at work and I just wanted to eat dinner and go to bed when I got home.  I still have time to get caught up so wish me luck.

Here is my question to the group today: I am wanting to host a game night this weekend and serve some snacks.  Besides veggie and fruit trays, any suggestions on tasty yet healthy party snacks?

I think we all should come here on the weekend and start reporting how we are going, and even come here when it gets hard on us to get over the weekend madness of have this, and let's go out to eat. I think that's a great idea on weekend reports. I think that will hold you and many more of us accountable to what we need to be doing.

Game night... I think you need to check into those veggie chips. They are very good, but when you are going to do a game night, you might not want to force your healthy habits so strongly, so you can pic a few healthy things to eat, and give some bad things too, but look for low fat items. They will never know once you put them out.. Keep the healthy bags in the trash.. They will never know they are eating low fat stuff. Never.. Unless it's sugar free. Everyone can tell a sugar free snack. :) That's my advice.

Love the link Cricket, I'm going to mark this on in my note book. Great find...

Hi everyone, is there anything you think we can be doing different with this group. Many of us aren't weighing in, and then there are a few of us who still stay strong and true to the group.

So, is there anything we can be doing to make it to our goal. Any different workout programs, like.. Yella's Stair climb.

I want us to toss around a few helpful tips.. I mean.. Really get this group jumping again. I don't know if some fell off the map because there is no time to weigh, or they just think.. A goal weight by the new year is impossible to reach. I my sure what it is, but I don't want to lose the few we have left. Any tips, advice, questions, etc................... Just come and ask us, and keep an eye a few days after you post your weight. This is a support group as well, and some of need some talking out of the cookie Jar. Like me!

Let's get some idea's running and let's get this weight moving.

Okay.... i havent weighed in since my last disappointment... my son successfully shared his cooties with me, so i had a horrible stomach bug all weekend..... i may hit the gym in the morning, but honestly i am feeling real defeated and have just about thrown in the towel on this weight loss bull..... usually after a good workout i feel back on track but i dont know! Frown

If you don't get out of here with that crap Yella, Look at those freaking legs.. You did that.. I mean really, you are going to toss in the towel over a little hang up like that. When you get time.. Go take a peak into my gallery.. Trust me.. Lynnhaslost, and I got up and dusted my butt off every time I would fall, and so can you.. 246 pounds me.. In 2002! Look at me now.. I had to fight like hell to get to this 147, and I fight like hell to stay here too.. You have to fight, and never give up on yourself, and what you want. This isn't about looking good in clothes, or a hot new dress... Baby this is being here to see more wonderful things happen.. Look at what has changed in this life time. Change, and we have to keep on fighting for change in our own personal life. You just can't toss in the towel, because yella.. Those fabulous legs will not let you.. Those shorts girl! Will not let you.. Hell I am not going to let you.. You can get under 180 dammit, and you are going to do it. Its okay to rest your goals as many times as you need to.. Girl.. You are not going to give up. Hell NO!
