New Year's Weight Loss Count Down... Starting September 2nd Ending December 30th...CLOSED!
Hello everyone, here is the Group Plan Layout.
I will be closing this after I get my first 25. I think we can get to know each other a lot better if we keep it small. It hasn't grown as big as I thought it would over night, but I am looking for more people to join.
So, 25 is the number of people I'm looking for.
As for weigh'ns. I would like to get that ball rolling as well.
Every Monday will be our weigh'n day. Starting Monday 8th.
I also want us to share our plans for the month ahead.
Focus points will be giving monthly.
This month Focus points will be.
Water 60oz to 80oz a day.
2 Fruits per day. " To cut down on sugar cravings."
1 salad per day and Steamed Veggie. "We need veggies in our diet."
Chewing gum. To deal with those no no cravings. Just chew gum if you know you ate something just 10 mins ago. I always grab fruit- but gum does work.
Cardio every day, and resistance training twice a week.
And share your feelings when you feel you are going to jump the wagon. We need to share so we can help each other.
What is your one goal for the month? " No matter what you choose, work on that one goal for the month. It really pays off."
My one goal for the month is to get back into my cardio workout.
This is a start.
Hit the road happy, and let's make this happen.
( The rest of the story about this group is in motivation.)

Love the link Cricket, I'm going to mark this on in my note book. Great find...
I've been a SP member since Apr 2006 and that's where I lost the weight; I love the site but the teams I've been on are pretty much dead now, hence I signed up here a while ago. So I have plenty more links to share if you guys are interested ;)

honestly i am feeling real defeated and have just about thrown in the towel on this weight loss bull..... usually after a good workout i feel back on track but i dont know!
the easiest thing to do is giving up but you'll hate yourself later; i was 165.4 lbs at my HW when i signed up on SP in 2006. Now I hover around 120s (last time I checked over 2 weeks ago). It wasn't easy, it was hard, frustrating at times and annoying. I didn't give up. Under ANY circumstance. I went through vacations, and a wedding and now this relocation thing....I just keep plugging along b/c I know I don't want to be fat again. NEVER!
I try to prepare myself for a possible gain...i haven't touched a scale in 2 weeks, i cannot cook, the restaurant choices are no where near what i usually eat...working out is very limited. The weather is cold and I feel crappy all the time thanks to that
I'm also prepared for a really drastic diet when I get back home...
Yella - I have to agree with lynn. It can be a long hard row, but we all have to get there and stay there. This is a lifestyle change and not a temporary diet. It took me 8 years to get to where I am now and I am not going to let the last 8 lbs get me down. Heck I stayed around 193 for almost 3 yrs before breaking that last year. Continual introspection and self examination and maintaining focus helps. It serves us better in the long run. Don't wait until yer 60's like I did to get into (back into) shape. Get there as soon as possible and stay there. You'll enjoy life more! Trust me, been there, done that!
Name: Bob
Age: 62
Weight: 166.4 9/2/2008
Goal Weight: 154
Current Weight: 163.8 (up .2 from last week)
Total Weight Loss: 2.6
Weight loss didn't continue this past week, even after doing better job of balancing protein & carbs. Did run 19 mi tho, and am following Hal Higdon's intermediate 5K training program. Am looking at running a 10k in the Cowtown Hyper-Marathon on 2/28/2009. Final decision can wait until Jan 09. Would be heart attack to 10k in 11 months following H.A. to 5k in 7 months!
This weeks plan: Mon/Fri: cross; Tue/Thur 3.5mi run; Wed 30-40 min tempo(4mi?); Sat 3-3.5mi fast; Sun 5mi run = 19+mi
Goals for the month of Nov:
- Stick to my eating plan with min deficit of 500 cal/day - start losing weight again
- Execute new training program in prep for 12/7 5K
- Manage eating at Thanksgiving - will be at Son's for whole week.
Remember: We can do this!
Never give up!, Never look back!, Can do!
Good Morning Group! How is everyone doing? I want this month to run smooth, and we have to get poppin, and doing the damn thing. I am so focus now, and this is a scary focus. I have to get myself ready for one hell of a fight for the next 2 months. All that cooking and food. I have to be ready to score big in my weight loss numbers. I feel like I am running a long race, and I am not going to give in or up until I hit the maintain line.
Todays weight. 147.6 I can handle it. No problem.
I just have to keep on pushing for the best. We all do. This is worth more than a oprah's money, and I can use one of her bank accounts for a chef. Everything is working it's self out. If there is somthing out there you want. You must make up your mind, and get out there and get it.
Bob is right.... Always
Never give up! Never look back! Can do!![]()

as a good book to read on the train back home (14 hrs!)...did you guys read it? of course I cannot order it at the hotel but I might be able to find it at a bookstore (saw 2 near the hotel).
I never heard of that book. Well, if it's a good read tell me how it goes, because I would love to read it too, after you give a review. SO many people has told me about this book, and that book, and when I get it. It's not as good as they said it was to me.. So give me the review and some details, not too many so I can get me a copy. Oh! And a underline price range.
it's about US$10 on Amazon.com
the challenge is to find it in a bookstore lol
203 this morning. That was wonderful to see. It reflects the work I have been putting into losing weight this week. In the past week I managed to cycle for 45 mins. twice, do three 1hr long walks, and do yoga once. That means that I am short 30 minutes of yoga and my toning/strength training, but I am up one hour of walking. I am going to try to have a perfect week of nutrition yet again, hopefully this week will be better...the candy is far away from me.
Just a fun suggestion, try shampooing your carpets. I did that this weekend, and not only worked up a sweat, but also didn't continually snack while I was watching TV later on because all of the dining room furniture was blocking food access in the kitchen while the floors dried. ![]()
Here is to a great week! You ALL can do it!
So the battery thing was never an issue, because i weigh at the gym which has one of those big scales (like the ones at the doctors office) where you move the marker.
Weighed this morning at 183..... the scale is moving back down, but it looks like this was a very real gain! Boo on me!!! But you all are right throwing in the towel would be silly.... and i have still managed to not balloon up to my highest weight which was about 215 over four years ago..... i know this stuff takes time, but maintenance at 190 had become pretty easy, guess i forgot how hard loosing actually was.....
so i had a good cardio workout this morning, and i had a protien shake for breakfast, about to get some lunch.......... i'm back on....... thanks for all your encouragement!!!!
I can't speak for everyone else, but I'm very frustrated with myself and that's why I don't post very often. If I had something to be excited about (loss of weight, successfully getting to the gym, etc.) then I'd be more likely to post but I'm tired of my lack of will power and angry at myself for not pushing harder. Just can't get out of my own way and establish a routine. My weight has been roughly flat, which isn't terrible, but it's not what I was hoping for with this group. My eating habits are pretty decent, but it is the lack of gym attendance that is killing me.
It's my own fault and I feel that I'm not only letting myself down, but I'm letting the group down. Hopefully something will click with me soon that will push me to get back on the horse.
Sarah
Sarah,
You are not letting the group down. Please post, especially when things are bad, so that we can do our job of keeping you up. I understand that lack of will power; that is what has kept me from losing weight for the better half of my life. The thing that is different now is that I have gotten into a momentum. I set goals for myself and I share them with others to get that sense of accountability. They are not difficult goals compared to everyone else, but they are what I know I can accomplish if I push myself just a bit. Take baby steps to get back into the exercise game....a walk down the road a couple times a week, one day at the gym, doing some crunches or lunges during comercial breaks during Grey's Anatomy (or whatever you enjoy watching), even your own little dance party in your living room a day or two a week. Let your energy, and your momentum, build and you will start to push yourself more. I sometimes think of a picture or two of myself during a workout thatI hate and it makes me pedal or walk just a little bit faster b/c I don't want to go back to that.
If nothing else, I will get on here every day and ask you what exercise you did during the day. (And you can do the same to me.)
Above all, don't be so hard on yourself.

i used to be like this...why bother if i don't have anything exciting to talk abt? but the fact that you are plugging along doing your best is EXCITING! it's hard to learn and live a new lifestyle so be happy! :)
Sarah, I agree with everyone else who has posted. You have to keep on pushing away at it. Knocking at the door until it opens. I've had bad weeks. We all have had bad weeks, but we are here still trying to get where we know we want to be. It's not going to happen over night, and it will never happen over night. We all know that. It's hard work, and it's a battle. We all have to face this battle daily, but it's good to be here and it's good to have support. I don't want any of us to toss in the towel. It's not worth it. If I had someone tell me this years ago. I wouldn't been in this boat time and time again. Starting all over again, but we do at times and we do get it right. We make up our mines and we get it right.
Pull out that measuring tape, and take measurements, and say good bye to the scales if you think the scale isn't doing for you. A woman just posted. She lost 4inches and didn't lose a pound last month, but she lost 4inches. There are other ways to rule out if you lost weight or anything.
You just can't give up now. You worked too hard to give it. I mean that really. You have worked too hard. Please stay with us, and keep up the hard work.
Hi, Sorry I'm late. I'm 112 for the week. :)
That's okay queen, you are doing great. (112) How close are you to your goal?
Thanks for the encouragement everyone. I'm hoping I can push myself to continue and change my life.
My weight for the week is 148.
phooy no book in English :( well I got a book in Romanian I wanted to read anyway so that should kill some time.
smh! 148, the last time you reported you was 151.. Look at you 3lbs down.. That's a great feeling... Don't you see.... Toss in the towel is never the option. You have to keep on pushing for the best. You have to keep on pushing for the best. Keep Pushing GIRL!
I did a full 30 mins on that stair climb. Level 3 what a cheat, but I did 30 mins on it. Not only that. My weight at the gym was 144.8, and I will not own that number until monday if I see it again, but it was a good number to see.. I weight train very hard for 45 mins, before I hit the stair climb, and let me tell you.. My ass was burning, and my thighs was hurting, and I did some leg press too, before I hit the stair climb thing. Yella! That's some great stuff. Not sure if I will have legs as great as yours, but I'm working on it.
