New Year's Weight Loss Count Down... Starting September 2nd Ending December 30th...CLOSED!
Hello everyone, here is the Group Plan Layout.
I will be closing this after I get my first 25. I think we can get to know each other a lot better if we keep it small. It hasn't grown as big as I thought it would over night, but I am looking for more people to join.
So, 25 is the number of people I'm looking for.
As for weigh'ns. I would like to get that ball rolling as well.
Every Monday will be our weigh'n day. Starting Monday 8th.
I also want us to share our plans for the month ahead.
Focus points will be giving monthly.
This month Focus points will be.
Water 60oz to 80oz a day.
2 Fruits per day. " To cut down on sugar cravings."
1 salad per day and Steamed Veggie. "We need veggies in our diet."
Chewing gum. To deal with those no no cravings. Just chew gum if you know you ate something just 10 mins ago. I always grab fruit- but gum does work.
Cardio every day, and resistance training twice a week.
And share your feelings when you feel you are going to jump the wagon. We need to share so we can help each other.
What is your one goal for the month? " No matter what you choose, work on that one goal for the month. It really pays off."
My one goal for the month is to get back into my cardio workout.
This is a start.
Hit the road happy, and let's make this happen.
( The rest of the story about this group is in motivation.)
My weight is 150. Yeah! I'm up one up.... I really don't care about the one pound up. I'm not going to let that one damn pound get to me.
Girls! We can do this.. We can kick this fat (A) and we are going to do this..
I know you all are with me on this.. Let's do this..
woohoo awesome to be part of the group!
I'm 126.3 lbs as of today :)
My Monday weigh-in:
Starting weight was 159.2 lbs, today was 158.5. I'm pleased since I've mostly been fluctuating 159-161 so that actually seems like it could be some real loss.
I dragged myself out of bed to yoga this morning to get my body moving again; I'm planning on going back to the gym tomorrow. Cardio workout tomorrow and then I'm going to start lifting again on Wednesday. I'm going with lighter weights/lighter workout this week to try to gauge how much strength I've lost.
This week I'm trying for more vegetables, too. I haven't been doing so well on that one.
Name: Bob
Age: 61 (62 10/26)
Weight: 166.4 9/2/2008
Goal Weight: 154
Current Weight: 163.4
Total Weight Loss: 3.0
Reposting from 9/2: Believe it or not 154 is aggressive for me. At my age I don't burn many calories no matter what I do including exercise. Medications & medical issues keep my exercise calorie burn on the low side so, >2lb/month is aggressive. Am also currently dealing with fluid retention issues with ankles swelling and weight fluctuating +/- 4 lbs in one or two days. Been with CC since 2006, but got really serious Nov 08 at 193 so this is end game time and the motivation certainly helps.
Weight reached 168 at its peak, but it looks like diuretics helped drain the fluid and I'm getting back to normal.
Goals for the month of Sept:
- Stick to my eating plan with min deficit of 500 cal/day
- Complete Couch to 5K training program
- Convince cardiologist to do another stress test soon so I can run more aggressively
Remember: We can do this!
Never give up!, Never look back!, Can do!
I was 210.8 this morning, which is super exciting since the last month I've been fluctuating between about 211-213, and haven't been this low since before that. So, I hope this is actual loss and not just more fluctuations. :)
Weighing innnnnn:
204.5, I'm pretty happy about that since my weight has been fluctuating all over the damn place this past week. I just want to be under 200 again, gah! I'll remind my mom to weigh in when she gets home from work.
I've drank over 2, 500ml bottles of water so far today, I'm not sure how much that is in ounces, I'm Canadian (metric system), hah. I had an apple for a snack this morning, and I'm heading out to play some tennis soon with the boyfriend.
Hope everyone has a good weigh in this week ![]()

Hi ladies & Gentleman, We are doing it. We are going to kick this weight, and tell it to never come back... Keep up the good work.
BobeV~ I'm so glad that you are a part of this group. Ladies! Yes, we do have a true Gentleman in the group, and I am so glad that we have him.
Thanks and let's keep this going.
WE ARE GOING TO DO THIS!
Hi, checking in for the Monday Weigh-in..
This morning I was 158.6.. a new low for me, and now under 160! yay! I am going to slowly work back into exercise.. after hurting my leg and hip with C25K, was laying off for awhile.. and then started having other problems.. I went to the ER yesterday, because I have been having sensations like i am not getting enough air when I breathe, and I was feeling pressure in my chest.. and then I was having occasional pain across my jawline..so I felt really panicky, knowing that those are indicators of a heart problem and my hubby took me in. They didnt find anything wrong at all with my heart or lungs, and think I may have 'esophageal reflux', which I thought really strange, because I rarely get heartburn, or have acid problems.. Anyway, i will try taking the antacid medication and see how it goes, and then check back with the doc later.. Gave me quite a scare anyway. So I will go back easy with getting into an exercise routine again, and just one more week til my new YMCA opens! I hope I can get a good plan set up with a trainer.
Doesn't really seem fair. I spent 4 days with the scale dropping consistently -- and I wake up this morning to 153 -- a gain... Doesn't matter that I know I didn't eat enough to gain. Water weight is just as frustrating even if you know it will be fleeting... PMS sucks
lynnhaslost: Thanks! Happy t0 be here for many a reason!
wendyb27: Congratulations on the new low. My wife had similar symptoms and we spent the evening in the ER after I got home and found that a friend had taken her there! They diagnosed it as a panic attack because of her obsessive personality and overall anxiety. If you have an anxiety driven life it could be something like that. I hope your feeling better soon and can get back to finishing C25K. I'm in week 8 and loving it!
BTW: as to this challenges goals for Sept. I have been eating like this at least since march of this year, especially after a blessing a heart attack (see journal for why its a blessing)
Water: I drink 5/6 16 oz bottles of water/day (refilled at cooler - would be bankrupt if I had to pay for them!) plus 1-2 additional ones on running days.
Salad: plus vegetables every day
Fruit: at least 3/4 servings/day, apples, melon, grapes, etc.
Nuts: at least one serving of raw, unsalted, walnuts, pistachio, or almonds
Remember: this is a permanent lifestyle change! We can do this! We MUST do this!
HAPPY Weigh in Monday everybody!!
THis morning was a good morning for me, I weighed in at 197, a new low for me. I'm trying to lose about 2 pounds per week, so far I have only been losing on average 1 pound a week, I need to increase my workout activity I believe. Glad to see everybody is doing well. Good luck!![]()
First weigh in of the challenge 143.5
My focus will be to journal, journal, journal, to keep me from binging and mindless eating and to be accountable! Hooray for us all!
Ok, so to stay accountable I am going to admit to my languish weight loss habits. My weight today is 141 lbs.
Right now I am in the midst from returning from a road trip to set my cousin up at an out-of-state college and now finishing up home improvement projects to be ready for my husband's college graduation in a few weeks, then another road trip and then a big family reunion next month to celebrate the grandparent's anniversary. In the midst of all of this I'm a full time grad student and hold down a full time job. I know they aren't excuses, but definitely complications and temptations to be lazy about my eating habits, especially when it comes to dinner.
Sarah
Crazy Question: Can applesauce and raisins count as my fruits for the time being? I don't forsee myself going to the grocery store again until next week at the earliest and that is what I have on hand now. (The applesauce is actually flavored with blueberries and doesn't have any added sugar.)
Good morning!
My weigh in for this week is 197. I'm up a little bit, but I've been below my daily allowance so I'm not sure what is causing that. I did the elliptical for 45 minutes yesterday and lifted weights for 15.
According to my hrm, that was about 900 calories. It helps that I'm a giant ;)
I'll be hitting the gym again tonight. Just thinking about this group motivated me to try weights for the first time in a year!

Age.. 46Height 6'1
Weight 246
Goal weight 225
Sorry for the late weigh-in 246.7 for the next two weeks I'll work myself back into my workout routine. Good luck to everyone and hang in there.
P/S I'm glad to see you change to ladies and gentlemen :)
Marie-v, enough stress? What helps me when I have lots of things going on is to plan in advance. I know it is a pain but if you have your meals/menu/snacks prepared ahead it will help stave off temptation. Also, I see you are going to get-togethers. This is a real challenge for me as well. I allow myself a couple of naughty choices in 2 or 3 bite portions then I walk FAR AWAY from the "spread" other wise I will keep going and going. If I know I'm going to indulge, I try to cut back somewhere the rest of the day.
Hope this helps!
Hi Ladies & Gentlemen, Yes! We do have one more guy with us..
Welcome Tippdz, I am so glad that we have you as well. I don't want to leave any of you guys out. So many women are with CC. I really have to get use to seeing a male or two every once in a while. It's nice to know that we are not the only one with this weight problem. Real men, do what it takes to keep a healthy life style as well.
WendyB, Please take care of yourself. I am so worried about you. Please keep us posted, and don't push yourself to hard.
Karabs, You are not asking a crazy question at all. Use what you have. That's what I do. Right now I have applesauce and fruit cups in my house. No raw fruit in the house right now.. I'm waiting on friday to go shopping, but I know me.. I am going to get more furit cups 80cals light -"Dole product." I've even found them in 60 and 70 calories. Use what you have. AS long as you are getting some type of fruit or veggie in. It don't mean it can't come from a can or bag. We have to wrap our minds about this life style change in a affordable way.
Marie, you are one busy lady. You are going to stay on track so don't worry. You are on the go go go.. That's good. Just pre pack your snacks for the road trips, and make sure you can walk and workout some where. Pack you a yoga mat so you can get a good workout in once a day, and shop or window shop. That active on your trips.. When I plan trips I always look for parks and hiking trails, and a hotel with a gym. That's always a plus. Not only that. I try to eat less and fresh. Veggies and Fruits when I'm out of town.. Fast food.. They must have salads, and chicken grilled. And when I do eat fast food. I must eat half only.. HALF. That's how I keep up, and I don't worry about the scales. I have lots of water.. It's a must have when you are away.
Rosy, Keep on pushing on girl. You are doing a great job.
Smh926, It's never to late to post your weight. I know we all get busy and lose track of programs, and weigh'ns. But! You are here right.. That's what counts.
Antika, Thanks for getting in there, and leaving a reply to MarieV.
CoachK, I know what you mean by it's not fair. You watch what you eat- workout hard, and count calories, and you wonder when will the yo yoing stop. Then PMS hits, and its bloat city hell. Your damn jeans don't fit right, and you just wish the PMS came without the water weight gain, and the damn bloat. You eat right- clean and you work your butt off into a hard sweat. Each and every day. I know what you mean by it not being fair. I'm getting up during my TOTM and kicking my own "Butt" even harder, and I yell.. Take that PMS and water weight gain. During my TOTM.. I really watch my sodium intake. I watch it like crazy, and it really cut down on that water weight gain by 50%. Doing that alone kept me for once at a normal weight gain during my cycle. I normally gain around 5 pounds during that time and now I gain 2.5 pounds.
That's what I want all of us to do. Get in here and talk and help eachother out... I'm so happy to be in this with you all. This is the best thing I've ever came up with.. This group is going to take it off, and we don't have to be the biggest loser, we just have to do our best.
Team work and support.. That's what we have here..
If you have any good tips on..
Cardio, weight training, and eating clean..... PLEASE SHARE :)
