New Year's Weight Loss Count Down... Starting September 2nd Ending December 30th...CLOSED!

Quote  |  Reply

Hello everyone, here is the Group Plan Layout.

I will be closing this after I get my first 25. I think we can get to know each other a lot better if we keep it small. It hasn't grown as big as I thought it would over night, but I am looking for more people to join.

So, 25 is the number of people I'm looking for.

As for weigh'ns. I would like to get that ball rolling as well.

Every Monday will be our weigh'n day. Starting Monday 8th.

I  also want us to share our plans for the month ahead.

Focus points will be giving monthly.

This month Focus points will be.

Water 60oz to 80oz a day.
2 Fruits per day. " To cut down on sugar cravings."
1 salad per day and Steamed Veggie. "We need veggies in our diet."
Chewing gum. To deal with those no no cravings. Just chew gum if you know you ate something just 10 mins ago. I always grab fruit- but gum does work.
Cardio every day, and resistance training twice a week.
And share your feelings when you feel you are going to jump the wagon. We need to share so we can help each other.

What is your one goal for the month? " No matter what you choose, work on that one goal for the month. It really pays off."

My one goal for the month is to get back into my cardio workout.

This is a start.

Hit the road happy, and let's make this happen.

( The rest of the story about this group is in motivation.)

my vote is on that one

Edit to change post:

Bob says. CAN DO all the time, and I want it to be something cool. I love it. We have 2 people who are down for it. Anymore!

Hey Lynn...

Thought I would go ahead and try this weight loss thing before the New Year starts..

Name: Jenny

Age: 25

Height: 5'8"ish

Current Weight: 290.5  :( Most EVER..

Goal Weight before Dec 30th: 280

Soo.. I gained a few pounds over Thanksgiving, and I want to get that off plus a few before Christmas FOR SURE!  My long term goal is 150.. I've never weighed that little.. The least has been 167, but did it in all the wrong ways!  I want to lose weight HEALTHY! With NO diet pills (which I've used as a crutch in the past).

So, My week goal is no soda.. I've been cutting back on it already, so hopefully cut it out all toghether!  I'm trying to start kinda slow b/c I have a tendency of being too motivated to start w/ and crashing after about a month.. So, baby steps this time!

Everyone, let's welcome Jenlynn to the group. She will be joining us in the new weight loss challenge starting in 2009.

Jen, do you have a pick of the new group name, since you are here. I would love to give you the same op as everyone else. You are welcome to voice your option.

Edit To Add... I'm looking for a few good people. I have found us one, and now I have to take more with me.. I think I got 2 more in mind, and I am going to get them as well. Just to see if they want to come.

You can do it.

My vote is for option #3 as well.  I have always liked Bob's can do attitude and think it can take us far in the new year.

Okay, that's 3 people, and it looks like a winner.

So that's the name we are going to be using..

WILL DO, MUST DO, CAN DO... WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE 2009

WINNER!

Okay Everyone.

This is the list.
Myself
Yella
Cricket
Bobev
Kara
Jen

So!  I will be looking for 10 serious people. Because we are serious about this already.

Any Suggestions..... On how we should do this.
Kara, suggest we do some challenges. Should we do one monthly.

I have a few I would like to get going.

1. Perfect month of eating. Calorie amount any you choose. Must be 1200 or more.

2.) Inch at a time. Choose a few areas, and let's work on losing inches, and if you are looking to gain inches. Let us know what your inch plans are. WIth a - sign or a + sign.

3.) 5k run- Link I used.   http://www.runnersworld.com/article/printer/1 ,7124,s6-242-304-312-2193-0,00 .html

I want everyone to check into this 5k run link, and tell me what you think of it. If you are going to do the 5k run.. Bob.. I know you are running more, so you can do something else or a longer run if you choose too. I've done the 5k run, and thinking about going into a longer run myself. Still thinking. I just might stay with the 5k.

I can't wait to see you all.. I'm going to get the page ready in a few days. I hope to see you all over there on monday. Because.. I want to get the newyear's jump moving ASAP. SO let's get this party started.

The group name is great!  I like it!  I also really like the monthly challenges suggestion!  I think that could be fun and interesting to change up a new challenge and goal for the month!  Sounds good to me!  I also like the 5K idea.  I think we have one here around March time.. So that would be good!  I have a personal goal for myself.  The Army-Ten Miler in Washington, DC is in October, and I want to run it again.  I've ran it twice.  I couldnt really afford to go last year, and lets be honest, didn't really want to train for it, but was sad when I didn't go.  So, It's a MUST DO this year!  But, not only do I want to run it this year, but I want to RUN it..  I've done it twice, but did a run/walk technique.  But, I want to run the whole thing!  I haven't actually RAN a whole 10 miles since about 2004, but 2009 seems to be a good year for it!  Ok, so, that's one of my goals for 2009...

Those are awesome ideas! I badly need to re-learn to stick to my calorie range, whether it's 1200-1550 cal or a bit high (not sure yet for which approach to go).

Inches lost/gained are also a great idea. I'm still struggling with the waist of course ...nothing new here LOL

As for the running...neah, not for me, especially NOT in the winter. I stick to my stepper. During summer I play tennis.

On another note, my husband asked if we are going to a New Year's Party and I said "yes"...it's in a club and there'll be a lot of hubby's colleagues (and wives/husbands...) plus a bunch of strangers...but of course I'm terrified about finding something to wear.. We sort of decided to go for the casual look, so it's high heels, blue jeans and a fancy tank top for me...I don't have a fancy tank top right now since all my old ones are too loose...I'm going to try to look in my closet these days and put together some "possible" outfits...but it looks like I have to do some shopping.

Looking into a hair appoitment soon as well; I want some blonde highlights...

Here's the link. The new group is up in games and challenges

PLEASE GO AND SIGN IN NOW. I WILL PM THE OTHERS..

You really don't have to run during that month. You can do other things. I think I need to go and add that later on when we go into that challenge. I had to go in and change a few things already, because I notice I had some F-Os running in the post. I got it all fixed now, and now I all the programs should be pro-choice. If you choose to do them or not. You can do something else, if you can't run. Like. You can put on your walk mate if you have one, and get on the stepper and let your walk mate count your miles for you. Thats something you can look into doing too. Just do what fits you. You don't have to really run. None of them have to.. You can walk or jog, and I'm going to make that clear.

I do use a running program on my stepper though. I created the HIIT program baased on a coach to 5 k program and my stepper can tell steps, time ,etc so i can "convert" the steps to miles; roughly 1500 steps = 1 mile

Well, when you got back over to the other challenge. I added something for you in one of the changes. You and yella will really love this add.

Hello All!  Are we still using this page for our posts until the 22nd or the New Year or should I be posting on the other challenge group page now?  Either way, I am at 201 today.  Hopefully I will be uner 200 lbs by Christmas.  Hope you all are doing well.

Name: Cristina
Age: 27
Weight: 130 Sept 1. 2008
Goal Weight: 119
Current Weight: 131.2  ,up again
Total Weight Loss: + 1.2  lbs

lynnhaslost: I'm aiming for a 10k the end of Feb, but think I over trained for this last 5k. Am considering a reduced training program this time. Will prob still do the 10k, but very slowly...Laughing I've run the distance already at a 14:30 pace so its doable, but I don't want to overtrain again. I'm wearing out this ol body of mine.

12/15
Name: Bob
Age: 62
Starting Weight: 166.4 9/2/2008
Goal Weight: 154
Current Weight: 163.6 (down .4 from last week)
Total Weight Loss: 2.8
Well no gain week to week but still haven't stayed under 163 on a Monday morning! Hip or whatever I pulled is feeling a ton better. Interviewed a new trainer this morning. Will start Mon 1/5.

This weeks plan: Ease into running - Tue & Thur, will be going camping in a state part Fri - Sun so I don't know if I'll get a run or two in or not. Will certainly give it a shot.

Goals for the month of  Dec:

Stick to my eating plan with min deficit of 500 cal/day, start losing weight again
Sun 12/7 5K race goal - Missed goal, finished in 38:57.
Maybe hit 160 and stay there - have to break the set point somehow.
