New 10-15 pound Weight Loss Group

Quote  |  Reply
Just looking for a group of people that want to lose 10 to 15 pounds by March 26th.

I had the best group last year.  We emailed each other with our food plan for the next day, talked about events that might cause a problem and how we could make it easier to get threw, and things going on in our lives.  We have become very close and all had good success.

We made it to our goals and now I want to go down 10 more pounds and then learn how to maintain that weight. Now I need a new group to keep me accountable and make weight loss more enjoyable.

I'm 5'6" and 146 pounds.  I am going on vacation on March 26th and would like to be at goal.

I too am having a hard time focusing on counting cals. I am very stressed out with work right now! When I get stressed I eat. I've also been drinking more alcohol during the week, which adds cals and also leads me to eat more...But that glass of wine or margarita really helps with the stress management! Or at least it makes me feel better at the moment..HaHa. But, i have a really bad sleep disorder (chronic insomnia) and right now it is to the point where even the Ambien and OTC sleeping pills are not working. And, of course, when I can't sleep, i get anxious, which leads to night time eating...Blah, blah, blah..

Anyway, i am trying to stay on this website and to draw motivation and inspiration from you all. So, you guys keep up the good work and maybe I will get my self back together as well. I feel really winey today.. I have so much work to do here at the hospital, lots of patients to see and counsel and I really just want to go home and ride my horses and drink some wine...

I have nothing good to report with regard to my weight. last time I weighed I was 136#.

I think i need someone to smack some sense into me! Help!!

Hey guys today is Monday morning and I have been maintaining 135lbs for the past month. I am not too happy about this because I should have atleast reached my 3rd goal weight of 125lbs by now. But I will be going back to my strict workout plan today and start to losing approximately 2lbs per week again.

My weekly goals were what was keeping me on track so I am going back to my tactical plans instead of looking at the overall picture, where I most times get lost. Anyway enough of the rambling.

I hope everyone is doing well and sticking to their plans.

Bye.

Hello all,

So this break of mine is going to end.  Gained at least 5 -10 pounds since the summer so I am back in for losing again.   Starting October 6th I am doing a challenge called "30 days of Yoga"  Moksha yoga which is yoga in a hot room, 30 days straight.  It will be exciting and I hope that will help me lost the weight I have gained.  I have to get back to eating right.  It's so easy to throw all of it away and start eating poorly, which I have done.  Eating mcdonalds, and drinking coke.  BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD

*slaps wrist*

I have been putting off working out because I have been to lazy to go to my doctor and get a prescription for my inhaler, now I just need the motivational push.

*PUSH HARD*

Hi everyone...

I am back on CC - and will be here forever now! Smile It took me a while to face the truth and I had trouble convincing myself that I can do it again - meaning that even though I am almost right back to where I was when I first joined Cry ---  I can and will lose the weight I gained back.

I have missed you all and I know I need to do a lot of catching up (aka reading through this thread since I last signed in).

Like Lisseth83 - I gained weight this summer. For me it was approximately 15 lbs from May to October. It was a horrible cycle... the further away I got from my goal weight the easier it was to continue down the path of destroying all my hard work. Frown I consumed food like I had been starved for years --- I was always (and I mean ALWAYS) eating. My boyfriend was in shock... and even had said things to me a few times. But I was stressed, still having trouble adjusting to life on my own and turning to food.

Last month I joined a gym by me. It's halfway between where I live and where I work and one of my best friends goes there too. We try to have after work workout dates and when we do have them, I feel like I can exercise forever. The rate: $99 for a year. How awesome is that?!?!

I have become addicted to the elliptical and spend between 30-60 minutes on it a day working out and sweating like crazy. I swear, when I get off it looks like I just got out of a pool. Gross, I know.

Two nights ago I had a meeting with a trainer at the gym. I told him my weight loss goals of 25lbs (going from 140lbs to 115lbs). I told him how being  on CC and calorie counting and running 2-3 miles 4-5x a week worked like a charm for me. We made a weight lifting plan for me and incorporated plenty of cardio into it.

I am excited to start getting back on track! I am sorry I haven't been a part of this group for a long time.

Thank you all for giving me the support I needed to get myself back on track. You are all a big part of why  I am here today, writing my thoughts/feelings and goals.

Here we go round 2. This will be the last round because from here on in... this will be my lifestyle. As my trainer told me "you will work out almost every day of your life, you will come to love it and will not be able to go without it. your friends and family will know that any plans needs to be made after your workouts and they will learn (over time) to appreciate you new lifestyle and eating habits and will with time, support you. don't let anything get in the way of your goals."

Week 1 - 138lb

FUNKY! We actually came back to the group on the same day! How weird is that?

I (like you) have definietly let myself go since I last signed on, mainly because of life stresses (getting promoted, moving in with the BF, etc). I am slowly getting back into thngs and have counted cals for the past few days, with a cheat day yesterday because I was in Philly watching the Phils win game 2 against the Brewers! It's too hard to resist those hoagies and soft pretzels!

I also made an accountability pact with my friend last night -- we pedged to each work out (gym, yoga, ballet, soccer, etc) at least 4 times in the next 7 days and if we don't, the loser has to buy the other a yoga or a ballet class ($15 basically). I'm cheap so the chance of losing $$ is a good motivator to me. I also go a Wii Fit a few weeks ago so I'm going to try to make sure that I'm using that on my off workout days.

I'm so glad to see you back -- let's get motivated together! :-)

I too am back on track. After gaining 7# late this summer (from 129# to 136#) I am back down to 132# as of this am!

I feel better already. I am back to running at the park with the weather finally cooling down some here in lovely AL. Went 7 miles on Wed and Thurs and I plan on going at least 5 today.

I have curbed the nighttime eating, which is my biggest issue. I have also put a stop to my roommate and me going out to eat 2-3 times per week and the ETOH (alcohol) at night. I will still go out to eat 1 x per week with the boyfriend, gotta let him spend money on me...haha.

Just had baked ham, pineapple and, oohhh, my favorite, sweet potato fries for lunch. But only 2-3 oz ham, 1 slice pa, and small serving fries. Had 1c Total cereal and 8oz skim milk for breakfast.

Don't know what I'll have for dinner yet, but it will be less than 400 kcals and I only have healthy food in my house. Tonight I am staying home, alone (my favorite) and watching 2 movies that Netflix just sent me! Maybe I will have a bag of Jolly Time Carmel Apple popcorn. (only 20 cals per cup; 200 for big bag) for supper with some Coke Zero (I think it tastes like regular coke). I know that doesn't sound too healthy, but it is Fri night and I won't be going over my kcals... ;)

I think we are all going to be super motivated this fall to get back on track with our weight loss and kick some butt in the gym!

Hello! Where is everyone else??

Well, I'm still on track and plan on weighing again Mond. am. Was 132# yesterday, but definately feel like I'm losing. My clothes are getting a little looser..just a little. ;)

Ended running 4 miles and walking 3 yesterday. Went out to Wintzels Oyster House with my roommate last night, but just had 1 Michelob Ultra with a lime, a club soda with lime and 1/2 lb. boiled shrimp with coctail sauce. She got a broiled/fried platter and offered me some, but I didn't even want any.

Today had a grilled chicken sandwich and some pumpkin seeds so far. Headed to the outlets to do a little shopping! Woohoo!

Hi lifeinkcals --

I like your idea of popcorn for dinner. I know it's not the healiest thing, but I do it sometimes too. And I definietly agree about Coke Zero -- it DOES taste like regular Coke!

Sounds like you are definietly on the right track with balancing exercising and healthy eating! I am going running with the BF tonight and instead of a piece of pizza for lunch, I had one of those Kashi frozen meals (shrimp with lime cilantro sauce and rice). I got 25% of my fiber and it only came to 230 cals :-) Much better than the stats for pizza!

Have a good night all!

Ashley

Why not add another familiar face to the mix! Hello everyone! Man I've been so bad lately and just totally throwing the workout plan out the window and eating a bunch. Somehow, and I seriously have to check the batteries on the scale, it says I'm losing. For a while I was hovering around 149-151 but the last few weeks it's been 148ish.. and dare I say the other day it was 146.8! What is this madness! It's been fun and amazing the past two weekends. First it was a bachelorette party/weekend in Ocean City. I drank and ate more than I have in forever. Although I must say to my own credit saturday night at 11pm I said no more to anything. I drank water, avoided the candy/chips/etc. Yes I drank an insane amount of wine earlier and drunk ate my way through the biggest burger ever but I was proud that despite it all I held back a little, and that should count! So this weekend was the wedding and more booze and food. Not to mention last week was stress stress stress at school. I'm talking full days starting between 8 and 9am and ending no earlier than 7pm.

But here's the deal, I'm not going to let myself shoot up to 150's again. Despite punking out on the gym I've been pretty good about keeping up with my twice a week morning runs. The weekend runs have been put on hold (not good). The gym has been hard.. but I'm doing ok with at home situps and still going strong with the 100 pushup challenge I started a good 5 weeks ago. I'm ending my repeat of week 3.. actually with the wedding this is the first time I'm off schedule.. but I have faith! One day, maybe years from now, I'll do 100 pushups in a row! At the very least I can for sure see a difference in my arms. I feel strong even if I feel jiggly in my belly haha.

So long story short.. I'm back! Let's regroup and get the ball rolling again!

I'm back (she says with her head bowed down).  I have had a really bad time of it as of late.  Between stress, a really bad cold, and my anemia coming back full force... I have had absolutely no energy and have comforted myself with non-stop eating!  I literally ate my way through the day.  I am up from 137/139 (for two months I bounced between these numbers) to 142 today and probably 143 tomorrow!  I'm surprised that I am not 164 pounds!

I had printed out and intended on starting a running program but I have done Zero, nada, zip... exercise of any kinds in MONTHS!  Last week I was so tired that I would climb the stars and would have to lay down.  But after getting my B12 shot and iron going plus I have started getting over this cold... hopefully I will be back to normal soon!

I am so proud of everyone!  You have all gotten back on track and have figured out a plan of action!  It's great that we are all getting back on cc.  Strenghth in numbers!

Take care,

Noelle

Noelle,

I'm sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. But, remember, it's only a few pounds backslide.  Chin up! You are going to be ok! The most important thing is you are aware of it and you are doing something about it before it gets out of control. Sometimes we just need a little break from reality to regroup and come back stronger!

But- what's going on with this anemia (if u don't mind me asking :)) ?? Is it an iron deficiency type or a B12 deficiency? What did your Dr. say is causing it?  Have you had an anemia profile done recently? Maybe I can help. I do work with alot of patients with different forms of anemia as an RD in a hospital and also in my out-pt clinic.

Everyone else- We are all in the same boat here! Losing weight and, especially, keeping it off for the long term are some of the hardest things you will ever have to do. Making changes that last a lifetime is different than just "going on a diet". For me, the hardest thing is the consistency. This is a good week for me, though! ;) I am losing the weight i regained in my recent backslide and am working out consistently.

I feel that this website is a huge help to me and to many others. This has been a great group of people and we need to continue to support eachother and keep up the fight!

Hey guys!

fhstke - what is this 100 pushup challenge that you speak of? Sounds fun (if not incredibly intimidating!).

I definietly have been doing well in the workout department this week. The BF and I went for a short run on Monday and I went to bellet yesterday. Nothing planned for the end of the week except GAME 1 OF THE NLCS!! I'm going to Philly tomorrow night to cheer on my Phils Laughing and hopefully not eat TOO much Philly food (soft pretzels, cheese steaks, hoagies, etc) along the way.

I developed Anemia during my last pregnancy.  It is the B12 Deficiency type.  They said it was due to my PCSO.  My doctor moved back to Oklahoma and I haven't been to a doctor since.  I should go and get it tested but I don't have medical insurance so I don't go unless I am really sick.  I do have a prescription for B12 shots that I just started back up last week with Iron supplements.  I do feel less tired after starting the shot.  Any suggestions you have for me would be great!  I am so excited that you work with people with this.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Sorry about my message sounding so down the other day.  I am getting ready for TOM and combined with the anemia... I was feeling without energy and helpless.  In a couple of days, everything hopefully will seem much brighter!

Hope all is going well for everyone else.  This site is amazing and the support is priceless.  Thank you all for being here!

Hey everyone! I am so happy to us all getting back on track. I think it says a lot about us - especially since we all came back - it shows how important each one of us to the other - and thats great!!

Chattynoel- I also have a  deficiency in B12 but I don't take the shot, I take the small vitamins. They have helped a lot. But yes, I know what you mean by having no energy and no wanting to move. My doctor said my deficiency was due to the fact that I wasn't getting enough B12 naturally through my diet... what can I say - salad just doen't cut it.

Lifeinkcals - I want to try some of the popcorn you mentioned! Where do you get it?

Apointe - I can't believe we came back on the same day. Congrats on the promotion btw! I know you deserve it! So yes, let's get motivated and stay motivated! We were both so close to our goals at the beginning of the summer. I can't believe you were down here for the game last night! You are truly a dedicated Phillies fan!

And fhstke - good for you, still losing weight and making wise decisions!

So for me, I've continued to workout 6 days a week. I am exhausted at night, passing out by 10pm usually. it is a miracle if I stay up later - and if I do, I feel dizzy and almost drunk. My new doctor said my resting heart rate is really good -- so that means the 2-3 days of 60min of cardio is working. I feel like my mid section is getting toned - but my legs are possibly getting worse.

Week 1 - 138

Week 2 - 137.5

My calorie deficit is usually between 400-1,000. I feels like I am not making enough progress, but I guess I shouldn't complain - at least I am losing. It seems like a long journey to reach my goal.....

the 100 push up challenge is this 6 week program to get you ready to do 100 push ups in a row. Clearly that's not going to happen for me as I've had to repeat week 3 once already and I just started it again on Wed. The good news is the program is for any kind of push up... from wall push ups (you stand and push off the wall) all the way to crazy one handed or whatever else really fit people do. I decided to go with regular push ups instead of on my knees. I started and I could only do 12 pushups. After 2 weeks you do another exhaustion test (basically go until you can go no more) and I did 21. I really like how it keeps my arms consistently sore.. it's nice working out and FEELING it the next day! Plus I can start seeing a difference already. Much more strength and dare I say more toned!

If you just google 100 push up challenge you'll find the website and it gives all the details.

funkymonkey- try this link for where you can find the popcorn in your area

http://www.jollytime.com/products/pop_corn/vi ew;jsessionid=7AE42BC440A21A6EABA6C26A08462D6 8.vipa-02a?object=531

With regard to B12 deficiency anemia (pernicious anemia), taking the intramuscular shots once per month is usually sufficient to control it, but you really should get some blood drawn to check your levels. B12 deficiencies are not caused by a dietary lack of B12, they are caused by a lack of production of something called "intrinsic factor" which allows your body to absorb the vitamin in the gut. So, consequently, eating more foods that contain B12 will not effectively treat or prevent it and taking oral supplements will not either. There are sublingual (absorb under the tongue) B12 supplements that you can purchase over the counter and take daily as an alternative to the shots. It is also a good idea to supplement the other B vitamins (B-complex) as well since the B vitamins work together as a network. Specifically the B vitamin, Folate, as a deficiency in B12 can mask a Folate deficiency, and vice versa.

B12 deficiency anemia is actually quite common in people who are on PPI drugs for acid reflux as well as the older population in general due to the decreased production of HCL acid in the stomach which is what leads to the lack of intrinsic factor.

i will write more later. i am at work and gotta run now!

BTW- This group rocks! Oh and to all you Philly girls, I spent the first 30 years of my life there before moving to AL about 6 years ago. I miss the culture and the food...

Fhstke- the 100 push-up challenge sounds interesting!  I probably couldn't do one with out being on my knees.  I have been wanting to build up some muscle in my arms (I love toned arms in halter dress or tops... so that is my goal for next summer!)  My arms looked toned from the front, but I really need to tone up the backs (triceps).

Funkymunky- How long have you had anemia?  Good job on the working out.  I am really proud of you!

Lifeinkcals- The last time my Panel was done I had Iron at 30.7, and B12 at 326.  It's been quite a while so I should get it checked again.  I keep meaning to but just don't get around to it.  I didn't know that I was supposed to be taking Folate, too.  Nor did I know that I should take additional B vitamins.  I use to have a terrible case of Acid Reflux which was causing cronic ulcers on the back of my throat and in my stomach, so I was on high doses of prescribed Reflux medicine.  But had no idea that this was related.  They just said the anemia was related to my PCOS.  I was just recently taking large doses of Ibuphron when I threw my back out... which I think somehow made the anemia worse since it created the ulcers in my stomach again.

So enough of my woes.  On the positive.. today I came up with a list of healthy items I can keep on hand since I have this undying need to eat all the time.  If I have to munch, it can be something healthy!  I just printed off a getting started with running program.  Plus I am going to look up the Push-up challenge.  Chad and I want to get started back at the gym, too.

I am starting a new goal.  I am going to loose 10 pounds by Christmas.  Originally I wanted to get to 128 by my anniversary (Jan.1) since that is what I weighed when we started dating.  But my back slide has made this unrealistic Cry

apointe- I have been meaning to ask if that is a picture of your Bulldog?  My girlfriend has two of them.  They are so cute!  Have you always been a runner?  I am going to start to run... but have never been a runner, so I am a little scared to start it up.

Lisseth- How is the Yoga going?  It sounds very interesting!  I love Yoga but we don't have anything like that here.  I wish we did, I would so sign up for it, although it would be hard to commit to getting to the gym for 30 days straight!  I would probably have to go with my kids in tow.

Sueswan- How are things going for you?  Don't fret the time used for maintaince.  I think as long as the scale isn't going up, that is an achievement.  Our bodies need some time at maintance to reorganize and get ready for the next losing cycle.   I on the otherside have been going up, and that isn't ok!  Time to get my mind reorganized, map out my next strategies, and head down the weight loss trail!

Have a great weekend everyone.  I finally started TOM yesterday, got my B12 & iron treatment started back up, and already feel loads better.  I am doing my grocery shopping today and getting back on track.

Hi Everyone!

I have been weighing myself about once a week and haven't really seen the scale move up or down, which is a good thing. But I looked at myself in the mirror yesterday when I was getting dressed and I was NOT pleased with what I saw. My stomach and my back are the two areas that I want to work on in the next 3 months and I think the push up challenge is going to be a good start.

I have a soccer game today and then I hope I can get to the gym or at least run 3 times this week. Because work is so crazy I think I may take a 5pm class at the gym and then come back to work to finish things before going home. The gym is only a 10 min walk from work so that may work. Fingers crossed!

Chatty -- I WISH it was my puppy! I want a bulldog so badly, but I can't get one until we move to the suburbs, whenever that is! I'm saving my money too :-) Does your friend absolutely love them? I know they are prone to some health problems so maybe I could pick her brain sometime about reputable breeders and such. And no, I have definitely never really been a runner. I did track in high school for 4 years but I really didn't like it. I still wouldn't call myself a runner but it's a good way to change up a routine. I definietly do not like running on the treadmill (too boring) but running outside is nice. Two of my friends are doing the NYC marathon in a few weeks ... that I could NEVER do!

Funky -- Are you in Philly full time now? I hope everything is ok with work, I know you were stressed for a while there. We can definietly get back on track!

Ok gotta go log my cals -- talk to everyone later. Have a great day!!
