New 10-15 pound Weight Loss Group
I had the best group last year. We emailed each other with our food plan for the next day, talked about events that might cause a problem and how we could make it easier to get threw, and things going on in our lives. We have become very close and all had good success.
We made it to our goals and now I want to go down 10 more pounds and then learn how to maintain that weight. Now I need a new group to keep me accountable and make weight loss more enjoyable.
I'm 5'6" and 146 pounds. I am going on vacation on March 26th and would like to be at goal.
Happy Monday All! Wow, that didn't sound too convinsing...I am in NO mood to be at work today. I am not in the mood to educate people... I really want to be at home with my dogs, cats and my horses... Mondays kinda suck. My job is so stressful right now. I am working on starting up this large outpatient diabetes education and medical nutrition therapy program that will service the entire county and the hospital so far has not been willing to let me hire anymore RD's or CDE's to help. Their thinking is I should get the program started first and then they will decide what staff I need. Well, isn't that kinda like building the house before you hire the contractors??
Anyway, enough complaining...for now, Hah!
I did have a nice weekend, though. Sat i spent the first half of the day relaxing and cleaning my house. Then I went to a wedding of a friend of mine from work. My BF of 7 mths (can't believe we have been together that long) went with me, which was nice because i got to introduce him to several of the people I work with. I was single for so long that I was starting to feel like I never had a "plus one" to take to anything! It was a beautiful outdoor wedding by the lake.
I weighed on Sat morning and was 131.8#. i lost 2# last week! Yeah! I am really trying hard to stay between 1200-1400 cals daily and not eat much at night. My goal is to be 130# by this Sat mornings weigh in. I can't wait to be back in the 120's!
My whole family will be getting together at Thanksgiving, as we do every year, so I am making a goal to be 126# by then. I think I can lose 5-6# in that amount of time. That is, if I stay focused and don't backslide again.
I think I might try to sneak out of here early today and go ride one of my horses for my exercise.
Hope you all have a great Monday!
Congrats Lifeinkcals on the two pound loss! Your goal sounds like a good one. I would love to be at 128 for my 17 Wedding Anniversary on Jan. 1st! So that is what I am aiming for (that is how much I weighed when we started dating!)
I am not as motivated as before but I did the first step. I went back to square one to get myself back on track. I wrote down everything I ate today, kept a tally on the calories I had, and planned ahead so that I healthy choices to pick from. So far so good. Might have to go to bed early to avoid the late night munchies.
Hope everyone else is doing well! On-ward and hopefully down-wards!![]()
I am not sure what I am doing wrong this time around but I am still at 130 with the beer belly again *sigh*
I am one week into my 30 day hot yoga challenge, so maybe as I go on with it I will see more of a change. I've noticed one change since I started and that is that my skin is softer and clearer not exactly the change I needed or thought about but it's nice.
Hope everyone is doing well I would read all your entries but with work and my online course and trying to get in every day for 30 days of yoga I don't want to do any extra reading lol. . If it's short and sweet I will for sure read it, lol.
So ok I am definitely plateuing and don't know what to do to get out of it. I have been maintaining about 133-135 for the past month or so and it is just so frustrating.
I dont want to change my diet because it is a good one. What should I do?

Take what I have to say with a grain of salt, but suggestions that I heard was increase calories slightly and vary your exercise. Then there is the advice to increase protein and cut down on carbs. But nothing works for me... I just have to sit and wait. It will break at some point! Just hang in there.
131.0# this am. Down 0.8# since last Sat. Hoping to be 130 point something by Tues am weigh in.
Have been refraining from eating much at night. Generally eating whatever I want for lunch and having high fiber cereal w/ skim milk and coffee for breakfast. This seems to be working pretty well for the time being.
Planning on going to the gym after work today to do my 1hr cardio interval class (a great full body workout) and then go home and crash.
sueswan- I know it's frustrating, but youre probably having a hard time losing weight for a couple of reasons. 1. You are already quite thin for your height with a relatively low body fat %. 2. You are eating a very low calorie diet and your body is trying to conserve energy. My advise to you would be to try up-ing your intake to between 1500-1700 cals and make sure you are including strength training in addition to your cardio workouts 2-3 times per week. Other than that, it is just consistency and time.
hello all
So I know I haven't been reporting in every week with numbers but technically I've been losing. So I started around June at 152 and this morning I weighed in at 146. I haven't seen the 150's in a good month now. It feels really good but part of me is a little worried that my scale might be lying but I'm not sure. I think I need to suck it up, buy a new battery, and make sure it's accurate. Overall I've still been struggling to get into a good routine. I can't seem to work in the weekend run and I still haven't started up with the two fitness classes I wanted to go to during the week. There's still time though. I know I keep saying maybe next week but sooner or later I'll step up and get it done. I really enjoy the feeling of working out. It's the perfect way for me to be selfish. Like this is me time, to make myself feel good, and to do what I want to do. It's something I need right now for sure with all the stress of work and school and life in general. I need more time for myself. Maybe that can be my motivation.
Hi everyone,
I have had a good week. I have started back to working out, & planning ahead for snacks and meals. We have been eating better meals, so my family is benefiting as well! I had my two boys working out to my workout video the other day, it was a lot of fun. I am starting to feel more in control, one step at a time. ![]()
Sueswan -- I read some of your jouranl entries and would guess that your plateau uis due to the fact that you are simply not eating enough. Taking in 500 calories a day is basically starving your body's stytems and making your body hold on to every calorie that you give it because it is not trusting that you will provide it with enough nutrients in the future. 1200 cal/day is the MINIMUM a woman should be taking in. With the amount of exercise you do, I would think that you could increase that to about 1900.
I dropped 50 pounds since December of last year. Of course I was pregnant, and gave birth, but I have still 15 pounds until I reach my pre-pregnancy weight of 125. I have been stuck at 138.5-143 for 5 months now! I joined this site hoping something will finally work again. I was on Sparkpeople for a year and I just cant get it rolling again. I love how this site shows what you burn throughout the day.
I have tried alot of different things, including chinese diet pills, cabbage soup diets, cutting calories to 1200 and then cycling then up to 1700, cutting out alcohol, cutting out fast food, running in the am's, circuit training... etc etc...
I am close to shrugging my shoulders because even at 140 I still
have to wear a 9/10 or squeeze into 7's. I am 5'6" but a very small
frame so 10 pounds extra on me is a huge difference on me, and just
losing 10 pounds will put me back in my 4/5's again. But I am beginning
to think I am stuck here forever! Which I know isn't true, I have 3
kids now, and never had trouble getting to 120-125 even after my second
child. Guess this is what happens after baby #3 and turning 30!! ARGH!!

You know - a great way to jump start your weight loss efforts is by doing a cleanse!
I recently completed a liver cleanse and after the 9 day program I lost 12 pounds. After a month and a half - I've kept it off. And it so motivated me to keep going and keep the weight off!
The thing about fat is - that fat cells are used to protect the body from harmful toxins. So - diets work for a short time - but, unless you remove the toxins from your body - your body naturally tries to protect itself and will use fat cells to store toxins. Thus - after your diet ends - the body will rebuild the fat cells to store the toxins... Vicious cycle
Cleansing your body helps remove these toxins so that the body works as it was intended. Just like we change the oil in our cars because it gets cruddy - we need to do the same for our bodies.
Anyway - if you want more information - you can go to www.CleanseYourBodyNow.com.
Best of Luck!
Beth
Everyone be aware- THIS SORRY-ASS PERSON IS A SPAMMER AND IS TRYING TO SELL HER BS PRODUCT ON OUR WEBSITE!!! I'm sure everyone on this post already knows this, but pass it on... THIS IS A HUGE PET PEEVE OF MINE!!
Rebecca- I, too, am 5'6" and a 140 lbs. I also wear a size 9. I would like to get to 128 since that was the size I was when I started dating my husband 21 years ago.
I had a great week! Most of it was water weight, but I am down 4 or 5 pounds (not exactly sure how much. Before TOM I weighed 144 but refused to weight during since it's too upsetting). Now I am down to 140. The weekend has been a little harder than the week, although haven't made the best choices in food, I have kept to the calorie range.
How has everyone else been doing? Any success/struggles this week? What is everyones snacking choices? I am looking for some new healthy snack ideas. Getting kinda bored with the ones I usually pick (Low calorie string cheese, veggies sticks, whole wheat low fat crackers or baked chips, granola bars, beef jerky).
Chatty -- that's awesome that you had such a great week! I agree that it's much harder to make good choices during the weekend. Since I rarely eat until noon, I usually end up having only 2 semi-healthly meals and drink little to no water.
I had a HUGE project at work last week so all semblance of healthy eating went out the door. I am finally getting groceries delivered tomorrow so I should have some things in the cupboard. I'm also making pumkin muffins, which I am SO excited about. I love this time of year and i want to make the whole house smell like the holidays :-)
I'm doing pretty well this week so far. I played Wii Fit for 35 minutes last night including the hula hoop game, which is HARD. Had salmon and veggies (roasted acorn squash and green beans) for dinner. And today I have tuna and crackers, yogurt, and pepper strips for lunch and popcorn as a snack. And when I ran down to the deli (because I'm STARVING for some reason this morning) I got a hard boiled egg and fruit. Yeah healthy food!
I haven't weighed myself this week yet but I think I am doing well.
Half way through my 30 day Hot Yoga challenge and I think my belly has gone down significantly. I feel better and not as bloated and trying to make healthy eating choices.
Once I am done this challenge I will get back into my turbo jam videos and more cardio and strength excercises but I haven't done any in a month or two so it will be back to the basics.
I'm back!!! I think I did pretty good this Halloween season. We didn't buy candy for home so that we wouldn't be tempted. Today I did great with everything except I ate a sugar cookie at my son's Halloween party (they are my major weakness! They are the only thing that gets me in trouble during the holiday season!)
I have been doing some weight training but I really need to add some cardio to the mix. I really don't mind my weight where I am at, but would like to tone up. Especially in the bum.
Hope everyone is doing well. I look forward to hearing from you.
Hi All!
Seems to be a bit dead here lately. I just got back from a 4 day trip to London (for business, not for fun unfortunately) and I am getting back on the wagon (again). Like you said Chatty, I'm fine with my weight, but I really would like to tone up! I went running this morning and my goal is to go at least twice more this week. Holiday season is DANGEROUS for me because I love to bake. Does anyone have any low cal or low fat baking recipies (breads, cookies, etc)?
I made a loaf of cranberry bread last night and it is DELICIOUS but its about 120 cals for a small slice so I have to be careful.
Hope everyone is having a happy Monday!
Ashley
Hi everyone,
I can't believe its November already! Come December, I will have been on the healthy weight loss journey (and a member of CC) for 1 year. It is pretty discouraging to think I am halfway between my starting weight last year and my goal I reached in May. Hence why I call this a journey - there will always be ups and downs and forks in the roads - and lessons learned.
Ashley - I am also dreading the holidays because of all the yummy foods and treats. I survived last year by taking a small taste of everything. I hate to forbid myself from food, I find that I overeat if I do that, so instead I sample everything and then have a little more of my favorite item. I usually never have room for dessert, so I end up eating that for breakfast the next day. Sweet tooth? Yea... a tad.
Since I last logged in my weight has pretty much stayed consistent - and my gym work outs just as intense.
I know the advice is to lift light weights and lots of reps combined with cardio... but it just isn't working for me. Last year, I lost all my weight without lifting weights --- it was all cardio. And I think this is why I am stuck at my current weight of 137.5lbs. I know the number on the scale isn't the only factor to consider - but my pants aren't getting any looser! AHH.
Anyone else encounter similar challenges? My thoughts are to stop weight lifting for 1-2 months and see if I am able to lose weight. What do you think?
~ Amanda
Ashley~ For me it's those darn Sugar Cookies with the Frosting!!! Last year I lost over Thanksgiving, I hit goal two days before Christmas and then gained 6 pounds between Christmas and the week after New Years!!!
Amanda~ I think that would be a great idea. I think it would be a good thing to mix it up. Keep your body guessing! It's all trial and error... and seeing which would work best for your body.
I just hit my two year Anniversary with the YOU diet and CC!!!! It truly has been the best thing for me! I am down to where my original goal was (144). I started at 164, and I am at 142. And I have averaged staying 10 pounds lighter each year so this would be the perfect year if I keep that trend, because I would be maintaining right where I want to be!!!
Uch this month I just need to start over.
Not sure what I weigh at the moment, but I gained and need to lose maybe 5-10 pounds to get back to my maintenance weight.
End of October was particularly bad for me as I broke up with my boyfriend of a year and a bit and it was hard. Then I went out for Halloween and drank like crazy, then my birthday week of November 5th I came down with what seemed like strep throat, was really a virus but was put on antibiotics, went to the hospital yesterday because I had a asthma attack and so I have been sick for the last 10/11 days and not working out. I ended up not completing the yoga 30 day challenge because of being sick and because of my break up. BLAHHHHH!
I can't wait for this cough to be over so I can go back to yoga and cardio and my turbojam videos which I haven't done in months.
and I eat crap lately, mcd's 2 days in a row, chips for snack today.... the lazyness hit me again.
I think 2008/09 is going to be a good year I can feel it :D
BTW: I am 25 now! Yay for car insurance going down (or well I hope I haven't called yet)
Ok so I gained like 3 pounds in the last two weeks (from 135lbs). I was so depressed over it. I mean I just made bad food choices, but now I have lost it all plus 2 more pounds down so I am 133lbs. I need to lose 3 more pounds to get to 130lbs (my next goal) soon.
I am so self-sabotaging, as soon as I start meeting my weight loss goals its like I take that as an intivation to totally go off my diet. Well, now that I know that about myself, it won't be happening again.
So I will be drinking lots of water, exercising and eating healthy. Bye.
