New 10-15 pound Weight Loss Group

Quote  |  Reply
Just looking for a group of people that want to lose 10 to 15 pounds by March 26th.

I had the best group last year.  We emailed each other with our food plan for the next day, talked about events that might cause a problem and how we could make it easier to get threw, and things going on in our lives.  We have become very close and all had good success.

We made it to our goals and now I want to go down 10 more pounds and then learn how to maintain that weight. Now I need a new group to keep me accountable and make weight loss more enjoyable.

I'm 5'6" and 146 pounds.  I am going on vacation on March 26th and would like to be at goal.

Hi again girls! Whats wrong with all of us??? We were doing so good for so long! I had went past my goal and stayed at 128 for awhile and now I am back up to 140-141 I keep gaining and losing the same 5 lbs! Its time for less clothes so there needs to be less lbs!!!! I know we can do it though!

Its pouring the rain here so these are the kind of days I am tempted to eat the fattening foods! and sit on the couch watching t.v.!!!!!!!

Have a good weekend everyone!

Connie

We have been eating right.  Exercising but no matter what I do the scale is not moving.  This week I am going to try to eat more protein and step up the intensity of my workouts.  I am trying not to focus so much on what the scale says but it's not as easy as it sounds.

How is everyone else doing?  Any tips that you have found that helps?

We can do this!  It just takes one step at a time and before we know it will we have achieved our goals.  Hopefully before swimsuit season hits!

Hi All,

Like Connie, I just keep staying within a 5 lbs range ... it's annoying. I took some time away from logging everything (I obsess over it sometimes, which worries me) and I maintained so that was a good thing. However, now I just feel like I'm getting "jiggly" and want to tone up.

Right now I am about 134 and range between 130 and 135 most days. I started logging again this week and I'm going to start back up wit the gym too. It's just so nice out, I want to find motivation to work out outside!

Missed you guys ... let's KIT!

 Hey,

Ashley - I have been feeling jiggly too.  I am also 133/134, was 125 last summer, started at 140 :(  I need to start logging again but so lazy.

Leah

How have you all been?  I missed talking with you!  Hope you are having a great summer... and the best part is that it has just begun!

I have been working out like a mad woman.  Eating really well.  But not much success.  Although I do think I look more toned but it's hard to tell since the scale is about the same and my clothes seem to be fitting about the same.  I have upped the protein and decreased the carbs to see if that might some difference.  I just did it Monday so it's too soon to tell.  But regardless... I feel great and I am proud of my hard work so I am going to stick with this routine.  I have been doing Elliptical 3 to 5 days a week and weights 2.  Plus today I pulled weeds, did the Elliptical and went on a walk with the kids.  I played Volleyball last Saturday.  Just trying to do anything to get moving.

Will post next week to tell you if the new eating plan makes a difference.

Hi Girls! Wow Chatty sounds like you have got it together! I wish I could say the same!! Not gaining but just staying around 140 and hating it! I want back to my goal that i had for over a year which was around 130! Oh well I will keep working on it. Getting ready to turn the big 50 in 2 weeks! Wanted to look bettr than I did at 40 and I guess i am a bit smaller than I was then so.....UndecidedSurprisedWink!

Hope everyone is doing great and enjoying the beautiful weather!

Hey all,

Seems like everyone is doing really well! I think I have been too Smile My work got a GREAT deal on a chain of gyms in NYC - $30 / month! So I snapped that right up, even though my membership at my old gym does expire until the end of June. So I have no excuse not to be active. Plus, there is a gym right across the street from my building so I can go at lunch or before work if I want.

I went running two days this week and am trying to eat better. I don't know if I have lost any weight, but my stomach definietly feels/looks a little flatter, which is awesome. That's the LAST place I can usually see a difference, so I'm super happy!

Keep updating everyone - let's encourage each other!

Ashley

Well, I definately see a physical difference which should be good enough.... but I can't help being frustrated that the scale isn't budging still!  I don't know how much I weight today but I had salty popcorn last night so I decided not to weigh today.

I upped my exercise again.  And only missed working out on Friday.  So I am proud of myself for that!  I am hanging in there and will continue doing this plan of attack.  Eventually it will have to pay off!  Right?!

Whew! These last few pounds are HARD to shake!!!! I've decided after losing 71 pounds on calorie count, to rededicate myself. I've been trying to get rid of the last 10 pounds for months now. So I'm buckling down, setting a goal of August 30th, and keeping track of my progress and thoughts at http://approachingthefinish.blogspot.com/. All this work has to pay off eventually.

Chattynoel, I totally understand how you feel. I'm pretty sure I'm seeing a physical difference, but I want to see the numbers move on the scale too. I know I know, we're not supposed to get caught up on the scale. But there's no where on Calorie Count to track INCHES lost, so pounds are all I've got! ugh.

My journal

Hey all,

Good to hear people are doing well.

I am still staying at around 130-135 which makes me sad.  Since last year I was 125 by this time.

I am eating around 1300 calories a day but I am not working  out since works been really stessful.

Summer vacation starts soon and I am hoping to push myself to work out again and then see a difference.   Since I will be eating at home, I won't have chips and chocolate like we have at work.

130-135 is still a healthy weight for you though lisseth! It's always hard to eat well when life/work is stressful. I have DEFINIETLY been there. I think what has helped me most is to just not buy or keep unhealthy food around the house and bring your lunch every day. I'm a cheapskate, so if I bring food, I'm less inclined to buy junk.

Seems like everyone is going well though -- great job! I hasvn't been logging cals, but I have been trying to workout every few days. There is a gym across the street from my office so I have been going at lunch. Today I tried a hip hop class (1-1:45 on Tuesdays) and it was awesome! That plus a 7 min warmup on the elliptical and I burned 440cals!

Haven't weighed in a week or so but I was 133 last week (only down 1-1.5 lbs) but maybe that will change for this week. Here's hoping! :-)

Apointe - I know it is, but it doesn't feel healthy.  I always feel bloated (even though I lowered my salt level and take in more veggies and fruit) and my stomach is always hanging over things even though the pants I am wearing fit me.  It's because I am not working out at all.

At work we do lunch weeks, one person makes lunch for a week for everyone and we rotate.  I do realize that being a part of this hasn't kept me at the weight I want.  So I know for September I will always bring my lunch in.  (it's just time consuming lol).

Good luck!  Once I go on vacation I will walk more.  :)

I AM SO FRUSTRATED!  I have been working out since April.  Eating right.  And although it looks better because it's firmer... my clothes are still fitting the same and I haven't lost anything.

I am working out on the Elliptical 4 days a week at a high intensity level (13).  Weight lifting 2 days a week (swating 140, rowing 85. inner and outer thighs 80, sit ups reps 60 etc...).  And I am doing whatever I can to be active at home... not to mention I have an active job that I don't sit at.

Food I keep it around 1200.  I eat lean meats and healthy side choices.  My one only bad vice is Diet Orange Pop.

I can't even wear my clothes from last summer.  My rear end is much bigger and now that I have started lifting... I think it is even bigger!  I don't know what to do.  Anyone have any advice for me.

hello there,

dont worry its just that you eat very little and you burn a lot and your body its in a starvation mode! i guess u burn more than 2200 a day so u have a deficit more than 1000 therefor you body  its hanging there believing you are in a starvation mode!try upping your callories to 1400-1500 and see how it goes!if nothing happens,then up it up to 1600! i am 100 % positive that if you do that you will shed those last pound away! but, dont lower your intake after start loosing again, the same thing will happen.

dont do so many rep try limit them at 10-12 and 3x with not a lot of weight otherwise your legs will grow bigger.you build muscle!and also dont do such a high intensity on elliptical you make your muscles grow more! try HIIT  or interval training,jogging, aerobics, yogaetc

I hope it helps

ps. you will not put on weight if you increase your intake! If it increase it will be water retention-dont get scared

take care

I forgot, you look Absolutely beautiful and young!:)

Hey All,

hope I can join you.  I put on about 35lbs in a job I hated.  I quit the job a a while back rather than go on anti-depressants, and the weight is slowly going back to normal.  I'm going on a holiday in September (where an ex-boyf will more than likely join us after having done a tri-athlon) so I need to be super-toned and HOT!

My stats are:

  • highest - 146
  • current - 134
  • goal (1 Sept) - 120
  • short term goal (31 July) - 129
  • age - 35
  • average loss = 2lbs per week.

I'm hoping to get there by:

  1. swimming 45 minutes 4 days a week (swim race 1.5k on 1st Aug);
  2. elliptical 30 minutes daily;
  3. sunday morning bike ride - 40 miles;
  4. 4 times a week alternating upper body and lower body weight work-outs for 30 minutes;
  5. 1800 cals daily (which is maintenance for me at my current weight, but I can't do less without starting to gnaw my desk);
  6. cutting out sugar completely (it upsets my stomach anyway, and puts me to sleep so better off without); and
  7. consuming as much protein within my 1800 cals as I can - gotta get toned and firm.

I'd really appreciate help with numbers 4 and 6 of strategy - on both getting protein into the diet and on firming up the flesh.  Even when I was at 120-125 before there was a lot of wobble and slack thigh.

I'll repost here on 31 July with my progress, and would love to hear if anyone else is aiming for similar goals and how y'all are getting on.

Thanks guys, and good luck to y'all.

Smile

Welcome Elenakig and  Agaac!

Sorry I have been away so long.  It has been my most stressful year!  Anything that could go wrong pretty much has!  I am hoping that this are going to make a U-turn.  I think that the stress has added 20 lbs and has caused my body to hold onto it although that I am eating pretty good and was exercising an a steady basis.

Things have been crazy busy with summer and all the fun activities that it brings.  I am still eating pretty well, but haven't been working out as much as I should.  After getting threw the next two weeks, I am hoping to get back on a schedule.

How is everyone else doing?  Hopefully you are healthy and happy... enjoying your summers.

Just checking back in to see how others are doing.  I just got back from vacation so I have no idea how I am doing.  Although I was having success just before and starting Sunday I am getting back on track.  I feel great about the newest eating and exercising plan that I have been doing.  Just eating well and cutting back on snacking.  And we have the 10 minute trainer cds and they are very hard and challenging.  I think switching up the exercising has really helped.

Hopefully you are doing well and I will hear from you soon.

Noelle

Where did everyone go?  I miss you!
