New 10-15 pound Weight Loss Group
I had the best group last year. We emailed each other with our food plan for the next day, talked about events that might cause a problem and how we could make it easier to get threw, and things going on in our lives. We have become very close and all had good success.
We made it to our goals and now I want to go down 10 more pounds and then learn how to maintain that weight. Now I need a new group to keep me accountable and make weight loss more enjoyable.
I'm 5'6" and 146 pounds. I am going on vacation on March 26th and would like to be at goal.
Thank you! The weather is one of the benefits of living in sunny california! We had fabulous sunshine all this weekend- I would have felt terrible to not step out!
I hope you get a chance to do something fun outdoors soon!
I am in!
I leave for Scotland on March 7th, and would love love LOVE to drop some weight before then....
Last year I weighed verrrrrrrrry little, then hit a Sophomore Slump and gained a bunch of weight. If anyone is up for a little motivation and teamwork, I'm in!
count me in!!
I'm going to the beach around that time
and it would be very thrilling to lose that amount!
Me too I would love a support group. I've been on CC for a month and its helping me learn and I am definitely making healthier choices. Although I think about food all the time and I think it makes me eat more than otherwise. I am still eating way over my calorie allowance so would be good be accountable.
Today: 131
March 26 goal: 125
Overall goal: 115
Dream goal: 110

Well, it has been an interesting week for me.
I started @ 146, was down 2 1/2 pounds on Friday. Then did poorly on the weekend, got my TOM on Sunday... and this morning the scale said 148. So I am up five pounds from Friday. Got back on track today, and was perfect. I had a lot of salt over the weekend so I am hoping that some or most of my gain is water weight, tomorrow will be the true indicator.
Congratulations everyone! You did so wonderful, I am so proud of you and your success... keep up the good work!
The first half of the week, dieting will be easy for me. But the last half will be a major challenge. Thursday is Valentine's Day. And Friday we leave for out of town to stay with my best friend. They are vegetarian so we end up snacking all weekend because we don't care for the meals. Plus I want to snack on the car ride to and from. I liked the suggest of order what you want but only eating half. Or maybe eating healthy for two of the meals and enjoy a meal of your choice for the third. Enjoy your weekend away.
Hey everyone!

Not bad for my mother being in town and having all that good food staring at me!!
Does anyone worry about what they are going to do when then reach their goal? I'm I going to be writing down my calories forever or will this way of eating and exercise become a habit? I'm nervous about gaining the weight back.....really nervous.
I'm down to 128 from 132! yey
nerak and others: these are 7 things to remember that if we follow exactly should get us down a pound per week. I'm sure a lot of us know these, but it's always nice to remember. (i have a hard time sticking to a few of these)
1) Avoid fats from margarines, shortenings, and cooking fats. Instead, use olive or canola oil or get "good" fat from nuts and seeds.
2)Don't skip meals! People who skip meals tend to have a higher caloric intake in 24 hours. (esp don't skip breakfast!)
3) Only eat low glycemic carbs. This mainly means not to have any breads, pastas, etc. that are not whole grain. (no white!) Best carbs: berries, grapes, nectarines, peaches, plums, veggies, brown rice, whole wheat bread. (This is a big problem for me but I guess knowing the science behind it helps me: eating high glycemic carbs causes a surge of insulin that makes fat cells enlarge and store more fat. yuck)
4)Eat lightly at night. You burn 15% less calories during the night.
5) Eat fish 3-4 times a week. it's less calories ounce for ounce than other meats and has omega-3 fatty acids *heart health* and is high in protein
6) Dark fruits and veggies. Best fruits I said before, best veggies are: broccoli, kale, spinach, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, watercress
7) Exercise! Do anything active, 7 days a week, even if this means just going on a 30 minute walk or something. *i am so lazy ha*
hopefully that can serve as some guidelines for what we should stay away from and stick to!

I did not come on yesterday so I need to post my weigh in. I just weighed in this morning.
SW: 131
CW: 129. 8
I had a five course meal with wine last night with my husband!!! I did not eat fantastic over the weekend.
I am on my way to the gym right now though. Keep it up everyone!
Congrats to everyone on their success.....I did lose, not much (1 1/2 ) but every little bit counts. Going to Austin this weekend for our anniversary. My husbands taking me to my favorite resturant. This will be a diet killer! Wish me luck ladies.

Starting weight: 138 2/12/08: 135
I attribute it to trying to stay within my calorie limits every day (even weekends) and not forbidding myself to eat certain foods. I can still have a piece of chocolate or a few drinks on the weekend ... I just need to account for it in my cals.
I have a free personal training session at the gym tomorrow so hopefully I will be able to incorporate some new moves into my gym sessions. I'm so happy!!
I hate dieting! I was really good for five days last week...lost 2 1/2 pounds. Got off track for two days jumped up five pounds... have been PERFECT for two days and only down three which is probably water weight from eating so much salty popcorn! And I have a challenging weekend coming up, I need a miracle.
Started 146.5
Lost to 144.0
Went up to 148.2
Now 145
Thanks carabo! Im trying to keep my mind and tummy focused for DC - packing lots of granola bars and 100 calorie packs that will easily fit in my gigantic purse. They should help keep me on track - at least a little.
I won't be weighing in on Monday, but will be sure to login on Tuesday. * FINGERS CROSSED * I go down!! I guess I could deal with staying the same (though the scale today said 138.5 again).
Keep up the good work everyone! I know here on the east cost the weather has been icky, so I haven't be able to do as much walking before/after/during work as I would like. Hoping it clears up before Friday!
Original Post by chattynoel:I hate dieting!
Hi Chattynoel,
Why think of it as dieting? One of the first reasons I came to CC.com over a year ago was because they had a mission to truely change the way their members thought about food. Food isn't evil; it doesn't exist just to make you gain weight. It actually keeps our bodies functioning and gives us the energy to live our lives!
We are surrounded by so much processed foods that I think we sometimes loose sight of the fact that our main goal should be to be HEALTHY. It helps me to think of my good food choices as helping my body function the best it possibly can, not that I'm "missing" out on junk food.
PM me if you want to chat :-)
