New 10-15 pound Weight Loss Group

Quote  |  Reply
Just looking for a group of people that want to lose 10 to 15 pounds by March 26th.

I had the best group last year.  We emailed each other with our food plan for the next day, talked about events that might cause a problem and how we could make it easier to get threw, and things going on in our lives.  We have become very close and all had good success.

We made it to our goals and now I want to go down 10 more pounds and then learn how to maintain that weight. Now I need a new group to keep me accountable and make weight loss more enjoyable.

I'm 5'6" and 146 pounds.  I am going on vacation on March 26th and would like to be at goal.

OK, what does anyone here do to avoid or reduce the overeating that occurs on weekends and at night--reading over all the posts, I see that I am not the only person struggling with these. I have avoided late-night eating for about 10 days now, and this really helps control my weight (duh!!)--but I know that sooner or later, I'll open the pantry and think," just one bowl of cereal...."  What strategies do you guys use?

(As for the weekend, I'll remember that I will weigh in here on Monday, and bet that helps!)

Thanks!

hey all... can I still join? I'm currently 129 and my goal is 115... but being 119 by march 26th is my short-term goal. I'd love to have some support. :)

pawms -- one of my best strategies from avoiding the late night binges lately has been to come on this site and just read some posts. I find it really helps me remember my goals and what I'm working towards. Also I look at heavier pictures of myself to remind myself of how far I've come and how I don't want to screw it up now, etc. Just do anything you can to remind yourself why you want to lost weight and be healthy.

Well I delayed my weigh in post because I was sick with a stomach virus all weekend and still gained two lbs by Monday.  Today I am down 1 lb from starting weight.

SW 146.

CW 145.

Good luck to all of us:-)

Yes, instead of just watching TV (which leads me to want to munchO I agree that coming on here and reading posts and keeping my fingers busy helps me a lot with the late night snacking.  I'm not very good with the weekend challenges, so I am not much help there.  On the weekend that I get in a cleaning frenzie, I always do well since I am keeping active and busy.  For me, it's the social activities that get me in trouble.

 hi there pawms -

my weekends are pretty social (my bf is in a cover band and they usually have shows both fri & sat nights) - a lot of going out to bars/clubs ect.  so there are constantly free drinks and lots of yummy (fattening) appetizers i want to try. i  curb the cravings by keeping my favorite granola bars in my purse with me - and chew a lot of gum. both of these typically dont mix well with alcohol. if i am drinking, its diet coke and rum - between each drink i have a glass of water.

during the week (i am also a late-night-sneak-into-the-fridge eater) - i drink a warm cup of fat free lactaid milk with a tad of honey stirred in. the honey gives it the perfect touch of sweetness and feels like a dessert smoothie to me. or if i need something crunchy, i make sure i always have carrot sticks in the fridge and a container of hummus (a healthy, low cal option). the leaders in Weight Watchers would say "no one ever got fat from eating too many carrots."

if its really really late at night and i know i shouldn't be eating, i try to avoid the kitchen or i drink a glass of water. since my house is pretty dark and not easy to navigate without lights, i make sure i turn them all off completely before i leave the kitchen, that way it discourages me from making the late-night walk.

hope this helps! keep up the good work and stay strong-willed! its all mind over matter!

I'm a night -time snacker...

Water with lemon works for me, although every now and then I have to have something....try Kashi cereal to snack on High fiber, low fat, low calories. I keep those little snack bags with the cereal already pre-measured. I keep them in the car too.

How many of you FORBID the hubbies from buying Valentine Candies????   Happy V-Day ladies.

My boyfriend's MOM actually gave me a box of chocolates! The good news is ever since the days of trick or treating I've been one to hoard on to chocolate for as long as possible... which means I eat one maybe two pieces a day. In my opinion life's too short to not enjoy a little taste of something sweet every now and then, just a big emphasis on LITTLE. Plus I must say I have more control with single pieces of sweets than things like ice cream or cake... where 'one slice' or 'one bowl' usually means half a cake or a pint of Ben and Jerry's!

fhstke, I know what you mean! Little squares of chocolate are my treat now, and much easier to limit. I also rely on the high-protein, high-fiber cereals from Kashi. It does help to check in here. For me, increasing activity is a much easier way for me to stay fit than cutting down what I can eat, and I tend to stress-eat when I can't run around and work out (usually I do spinning three times a week).... So it's helped me tremendously to be surrounded by other people focusing on staying in a healthier mode of eating.

For what it's worth, especially for those of you with a Whole Foods handy and who really like milk products, there is a yoghurt for grown-up tastes (no jam! not too sweet! kind of tart!) from Rachel's Dairy....there are flavors with pomegranate, acai, lavender and so on in these incredible blends. It's great on oatmeal for breakfast or with a bunch of fruit (blueberries, chopped oranges, apples, whatever) for lunch. It's 7 gm protein, 2.5 gm fat, and 28 gm sugars, so you plan accordingly.... (and now I'm going to put that yoghurt container Back in the Fridge)

omg valentine's day was a disaster. i know it's just one day but damn i really went overboard. my bf kept saying "oh it's just a fluke it's one day" which it is... but shoot.  carl's jr lunch, then vietnamese food *noodles, potstickers* for dinner, cheesecake for dessert. what a nightmare.

i am going to be really disciplined this week to make up for it. no high fat and processed carbs (ie: desserts) oi ve

So as expected when I weighed myself this morning things were a little crazy.

So here's what I'm thinking. This weekend was unfortunately a weekend of drinking (although the fortunate thing is I had lots of fun!). So my theory is that I probably didn't gain real weight but most likely was dehydrated from Friday through Sunday resulting in my body now trying to hold on to a lot of water. Haha denial is great! So we'll see, I'll take out the scale maybe wednesday or thursday. I just can't believe in a matter of 4 days I gained 3lbs.

I hope everyone else had a lot more success!

Hello everyone!

I had a very bad week too - weight loss wise. I am back at 135 (???). I know for sure I didnt gain 4 lbs over the week so am going to wait till wednesday and see if it goes down :(..

I had a good time too over the weekend - my valentine's day was not that good and first triggered my out of control eating :P. I plan to be a good girl this week and for many more weeks from now!

Luckily, I am still exercising very regularly - so I just have to watch my calories and drink water and I should be alright.

Hope everyone else had a decent loss this week!

no change for me...148 still. might be a lb or two more because i ate like crazy this weekend, but i refuse to check for another week.

hope everyone else had  a better week

I've been all over the place... started at 146 dropped down to 142 then bounced to 148 (TOM) then ended last Friday the 15th @141.  I just got from a weekend away tonight, so I am unsure what I am at currently.

I'm not even sure how I did this weekend.  I tried to eat half of my meals and decided not to consume any alcoholic beverages  to leave room for the calories in the snacks.  Had popcorn today so I am probably up weight from the salt as well as any possible weight gain from the weekend.

I am not going to stress it though.  I had a fun weekend and did fairly well.  I am just going to get back on track from here on out and weigh on Friday.  I like doing the weigh in on Fridays because it's a better judge than right after my weekends.

So my fears came true, I gained weight this week/weekend while in D.C. with my boyfriend. But for rarely going away with him and rarely having just "us" time, I am telling myself it was worth it.

SW: 140

Last week's weigh-in: 139

This week's weigh-in: 140.5

I even exercised every day! I took advantage of the gym at my boyfriend's apartment and did my usual cardio routine there before we left for D.C. on Friday, then when we got down there and settled in, we walked around for 2.5 hrs. Then Saturday morning I woke up and used the gym at the hotel - same cardio routine - AND then after breakfast on Saturday, we WALKED FOR 5.5 hrs. Not even kidding. My legs were hurting by the time we got back that night. And Sunday, after returning to his apartment, I used the gym there too.

I am a tad upset. And I am finding myself making excuses too - like, I'm PMSing and this is the week.... I indulged a lot while in D.C. .... I wasn't able to log everything every day. And since I felt good about the weight I have lost since a December, I have a little leeway. ALL bad excuses.

But then, on the flip side - 1.5 months ago - I tried these jeans on at The Limited: Sexy Drew, size 10 short. And they were horribly tight, couldn't even get them up. Yesterday we went to the mall, I grabbed the same pair (especially now since they were on a super sale and only $20!) and tried them on. Well, they practically fell off. I was astonished and ran out of the dressing room to grab the 8 short - and they fit perfectly. Of course, I bought them and had to do a fashion show in them later for my boyfriend. =)

Being able to fit into those jeans made me a tad bit happier and motivated to get down to 138.5 by our next weigh-in.

Fingers crossed.

Well, I, too, gained this week...up one pound.  Let's see, what could have done me in...was it the pizza my brother-in-law made Friday night? (although low-cal), the Saturday must-have french fries? (only 1/2 the take-out portion), or the birthday cake with ice-cream on Sunday? (and another smaller piece on Monday).

I resolve to do a much better job this week.   If I can convince myself to go near the evil treadmill!

Thinking bathing suit, bathing suit, bathing suit!Cool

funkymunky- congratulations on the size 8! I can't wait to get back to that size. I have been a 10 for the past year until last month when I had to buy new work clothes and had to get 14's! I was very irritated.

I weighed in today...

SW (2/4): 194

CW: 187.8 (191 last week)

GW by 3/26: 175

GW: 135

Thanks kelly27! The numbers on the scale haven't change much since I first tried those jeans on in size 10, so I am just losing inches I guess. I know you will get there! Just tell yourself that is the last time you are buying that size! AND congrats on your awesome job so far!

It looks like a lot of us had a rough past week/weekend - so what are we all doing to get back on track?

Tonight - i ate a handful of chipolte roasted peanuts before hitting up the supermarket. When I got there I grabbed: 1 container of Marie's guacamole (i need more healthy fats in my diet), a 2lb bag of baby carrots, a bag of ready-to-eat green beans, 3 cucumbers, Tribe 40 spices hummus, non-fat yogurt, raisin bran cereal, and lots of Healthy Choice meals. My mom and I sliced up the cucumbers, washed the carrots and packed them for my lunches/snacks this week. I  measured my cereal for the next 3 days, packed 3 yogurts, and the guacamole - all for work this week.

**Fingers crossed we can all reach our goals for next week!**

Chattynoel - I like your idea of weighing in on Friday! Thats usually when I weighed in for weight watchers, because I typically did (and still do) take the weekends off from exercising and strict calorie counting. I might be joining you for Friday weigh-in!

well, my dad had a weird lab test come back yesterday which sent us all into worries he might have myeloma (not good!), so didn't get to post the monday weigh-in (turns out he has a related, pre-, pre-cancer kind of condition, so I'm much more at ease.)

Anyway, starting weight 144

yesterday 142

Goal this week is to exercise daily, even if it's just walking, keep getting enough sleep, and not snack. Did spinning on Sunday and today.

Having clothes fit better is a super indicator of progress, especially if your weight hasn't changed that much....When you can see the Jiggly Bits shrinking, and your activity and energy are high, it's great. That's actually what I'm shooting for.  I refuse to let my stomach stick out farther than my boobs! Do you guys ever post beginning sizes and goal sizes??? Want to??

Does anyone want to buddy me in the quest to do daily activity??

Thanks, Penny

My challenge is bad weather days.  I live in sunny and beautiful southern cal.  But, it's been cold and dreary the past few days, and for some reason, when it's cloudy and cold outside, even if I'm in a good mood, I'll just crave things like hot chocolate, and mashed potatoes.  Drinking cold water and eating veggies is so hard on days like that.  Anyone have ideas to stay healthy on cold days?

Soups ? Though you'd probably have to make them because the store bought ones have so much sodium. Also up your protein if you haven't already..

I know what you mean though @ potatoes and chocolate.. my pitfalls too!
