New 15-20 pounds Weight Loss Support Group CLOSED!
Hi everyone,
I thought I would start a new support group since I only see older ones that have a lot of people in it already.
This could be a nice way for a bunch of people to come in and talk about their weight loss journey. My goal is to lose 15 pounds by August 1st.
We can post the the meals we have had, what excercises we have done, share recipes, tricks that have helped you in the past, etc.
I will take all the support I can!
water_never_dry: I should really try eating 5 fruits a day. I have about two a day! And replace that salad! Veggies fill me up so much more. What do you do for two hours? Usually I walk to my gym (30 mins each way) and then an hour at the gym. But i dont count the walk to the gym cus I walk pretty slow.
I work out around 3ish because that's when the gym is the slowest so I have the machiens i want. I have a late breakfast, late lunch, late dinner because I eat the most at night so I dont want to have an early dinner and then get hungry again. Breakfast is at noon...Lunch is at 4ish...dinner at 8 and of course snacks in between
Jellybelly7: NO WAY IT COST 78 DOLLARS! But i am so jealous that you feel it working already. I rather lose inches then weight and im sure from slim in 6 you lose inches. maybe ill ask one of my friends to buy it and then burn me a copy! HA!
You can have chipotle in a semi healthy way too. But the sodium will still be high. I think the lowest I have had chipotle was 500 calories...
Also, I eat around 1200 calories. I dont get hungry but I do get cravings. For hunger i just have a huge bottle of water with my food. By the time you are done with your meal you will be super full! For cravings i just keep healthy yummy snacks around. Like fruit jello, or chocolate pudding. And if i am good the entire day then I am allowed a dove at night time :-)

OMG! My office got pizza for lunch and that's all I can smell! I wish!! Pizza is one of the foods that gives me major food sensitivites... I blow up like a balloon in like 2 hours. I think it's sad but it definately gives me motivation not to cheat!!!
imcoolsoni: Thanks! I weigh myself almost every day too and I don't think it's that bad. I tried the once a week thing but it only takes a week for me to gain 5 pounds (I wish I could lose 5 pounds in a week LOL) I'm used to the 1-3 pound fluxuation from water and "that time of month" now after all these years of taking this weight off I gained in my 20s (I'll be 34 in 3 weeks
) I'm not so sure about those Monday weigh-ins though... the weekends are so tough for me (maybe I'll post Saturdays LOL)
jellybelly7: Can you believe I bought Slim in 6 a few years ago and never did it! It looked like a great program but my hectic schedule got in the way before I even started. -- imcoolsoni I'd send it to you if I knew where it was -- I still use the exersize bands though (the most expensive exersize bands I ever bought LOL)

water_never_dry: I wish I had time to work-out for 2 hours!!! I would be in heaven. I read an article in 2000 that said that a treadmill was the most successful exersize equipment for sustaining weight-loss (I knew all too well about the ab-rocker collecting dust) so I broke down and bought one then and now I'm on my second one (my new one has a fan and an ipod dock - woohoo). The only problem is the only time I have the energy and time to use it is in the morning and that is EARLY... so 30 minutes is my minimum and if I get up early enough I go a whole hour! I built up to a 10 degree incline so I get more from my half-hour - ow. I make sure I exersize atleast 3 days a week but if I have time I will 6 days!
Brimmy: Can you leave the office for a lunch break> So by the time you come back the pizza will be gone??? JUST SAY NO!
And you can weigh yourself on saturdays thats fine. As long as you give yourself 7 days in between. hahaha dont worry about the slim in 6. I just googled it and the cheapest i could find is 50 bucks. Thats still high since I am a little broke right now with all the healthy groceries for the entire family!

Mid-Morning Snack: 1/2 Everything Bagel w/ Lite Cream Cheese
1 slice cheese
1 cracker w/ red pepper hummus
Lunch: 2 cups prepared salad mix
3/4 cup honey nut cheerios
Dinner: I don't know yet...
I currently eat anywhere between 900-1200 cal a day. Alot of times, I have to remember to eat because I don't get hungry very often, and I don't really snack. My mid-morning is like breakfast. Dinner is usually some sort of grilled protein and a veggie.
Oh yeah! Exercise: 1.5 swimming w/ my daughter & 45 min Tae Bo!

and how much do you lose per week ?? u train hard and eat just around 900-1200..too low?
Well..I do running 3-5 times per week for 1 hour ,
30 min jogging(9.0) and hard running for 20 (10.0 - 11.0 ) ,
i burn around 1000 , mmmm..I do cross trainer for 30 min.
oh i do classes as well..spinning and boxing 3 times a week , 1-2 times swimming session (45 min). well i do alot of training because i really enjoy it specially running..iam planing to run my first haf marathon in october..so wish me luck !!
Iam eating around 1500 kcal per day...losing 2 kg per week..i know it might sound un healthy , but they say we should listen to our body..so i feel great no tirdness or anything..iam doing this since feb.
mmmm..ok ok ill stop talking..ill go and make my dinner which is chicken breast and salad ..

Hi, my name is Michelle. I just received this link last night and joined today. I actually need to lose about about 50 pounds but will be happy when I've hit the 20 pound mark. I've been dieting and exercising about a month now and have been using the Slim in 6 program. It's tough and I haven't seen too much in terms of weight loss but I'm going to stick with it. I really need support to keep me motivated.

I only lose about 2-3 lbs per week. I don't train or anything like that. The majority of my exercise is walking some at work, and chasing after my 3yr old. I just don't eat alot of junk. Maybe once a week, but mostly it's raw veggies and proteins. I just ate a big salad for dinner with fresh mushrooms and celery and all that in it, total of 150 cal w/ dressing. So that brings today to 624 cal. I need to eat more calories, I know, any idea where to fit them in without the junk?
livsmomma: I can relate to the not getting enough calories in in a day... especially with kids :) Have you tried brown rice? Or a basmati rice blend? 1 cup has about 250 calories when it is prepared with stock. I bought a pressure cooker and on most Sundays I pepare 2 cups of brown rice with 1 box (4 cups) of chicken stock and I get about 6 cups of cooked rice which is really yummy!! I think the stock is the key. I had such a hard time making brown rice before I got the pressure cooker - it was always crunchy and I was constantly adding more liquids (ewww). My friend has a rice cooker which she swears by and it is cheaper cost but I like the pressure cooker cuz it cuts the cook time down from 45 minutes to 10 (which is key with little ones) and I can use it for other purposes. I put the rice in a container and use it with meals a few times during the week and the kids love it too, especially if you cook up some peas and mix it in (don't cook the peas with the rice!). The other foods I like to use to get my calories are almonds and avocados. Add a half of an avocado to your salad and it has loads of good fats which up your calorie intake.
Brimmyhop: Thanks so much for the suggestion! I did cook up some rice and broccoli! It was one of the box things... lol But another 230 cal for a cup and it was AWESOME! Definitely going to have to add that stuff to my list of "yummy". I'm such a picky eater that I actually have a "yummy" list!
Hey! I'm in! I've got about 25 to lose, but I'd like to be down at least 15 by August. I've used this site before and had lots of success, so I'm back again to get back down to my goal.
Current - 170 lbs
Goal - 145 lbs
Age - 19
Height - 5'4"
I started up on my wokrout routine yesterday with a friend, so I'm hoping we'll keep each other motivated. As far as eating right goes, that's all up to me. Good luck to everyone here!
Hy I'm in, I want to lose about 15 pounds I'm 5'7 right now my CW is 144.4 and my GW is 130, it was 135 but I think I'm goig to try to get to 130 instead. It's hard losing weight I love to eat, fatty food!

I'm curious do you not eat breakfast because your stomach can't handle it or because you don't have time? I hard-boil a dozen eggs each week and grab one or two (depending on how big my lunch is for the day) each morning with a glass of OJ and I wolf it down while I'm trying to convince my 6 year old son to get in the car LOL or I eat them on my drive to work. Eating breakfast can also help you get in your calorie intake. Personally I have found protein in the morning makes a BIG difference for me!! I've been doing this for a year or so now and it really helps me.
For any of you who might be interested... my hard-boiled egg tip is to rapid cool the eggs with ice water after they cook for 10 minutes and then peal them before putting them in a tupperware - it makes them REALLY easy to peal. If you put them in the fridge with the shells the shell shrinks and gets stuck to the egg :( I add a paper towel to the bottom of the tupperware too to absorb the moisture.
BTW I saw on your profile your daughter is almost 3... My daughter is almost 3 too :) Isn't it so much fun right now!

I am 35, 5'9" 162.5lbs. Goal weight 137 by 1st September.
I stopped smoking on the 31/12/08 ;-) but I did gain weight in the process, I must have been unconsciously snacking I guess. Anyway, I shot up to 173lbs, weight myself one day at work and became quite shocked as I was almost as heavy as some of the big guys in the warehouse (im taller but still...)
I have since made some drastic changes to my lifestyle and they seem to be paying out, lost 10lbs and I am highly motivated to carry on, have some fantastic meal plans (mostly home cooked) and try to do a activity daily: go for a walk by the Thames, play wii trainer, steps aerobics dvd or spend 40 mins or so on the home gym
I never thought I could stop smoking so easily (being at it since really young) and now feel if I can achieve that I can achieve anything

Oh how i miss eggs.... woe is me! I can't actually eat them anymore! According to the good doc, I have developed a "sensitivity" to them. They make me ill if I eat them . I can't do alot of dairy or starches either. Darn tummy hates me! And I don't do breakfast because I'm not usually hungry in the morning. If I am, I will eat t piece of fruit or something like that.
My baby will be 3 mid july. Ever planned a princess/dinosaur party? It's definitly interesting. I can't wait to make her cake, but alas, I can't eat it!
