New 15-20 pounds Weight Loss Support Group CLOSED!
Hi everyone,
I thought I would start a new support group since I only see older ones that have a lot of people in it already.
This could be a nice way for a bunch of people to come in and talk about their weight loss journey. My goal is to lose 15 pounds by August 1st.
We can post the the meals we have had, what excercises we have done, share recipes, tricks that have helped you in the past, etc.
I will take all the support I can!

I am so dissapointed in myself! I went over my calories last night. Instead of 1200 I probably had 1500. I had 4 pieces of Dove chocolate!!! I hope I can do better today. I'm definitly going to the gym!
Anyone know anything fun I can make for dinner? I was thinking of veggie pizza but even that will come up around 500 calories. MY sis in law is coming over so i can just put whatever on the table and call it a day lol. Any suggestions?
Ok, so yesterday wasn't perfect, I had an extra snack when I went home, totaling about an extra 350 cal (chocolate milk and strawberry shredded wheat *separate*) and I didn't get a run or a walk in. I forgot my running shoes at home and I wasn't about to run in work shoes! Belly dancing is barefoot, so that was a go, so at least I did something.
Today, I hope to go for a run late this evening after it rains, so I'm hoping some time between 9-10pm. Fingers crossed! Meals are mapped out until the end of work, and actually doing very well. I need to see if I can keep myself in the 700-800 range before 5pm, and then the rest of the evening should be a cake walk. That means more meal prepping in the evenings for the the next day,
Now to figure out what to do for dinner! Unfortunately, due to traffic, I'll probably eat out before going home... maybe Subway...

imcoolsoni, I don't know if you're a big fan of soup, or kale, but this is a great recipe I found that is really yummy! I don't add the lemon at the end though, and I do less red pepper flakes. It's got a good kick and I always add extra veggies, mushrooms mostly. I hope you like it!
KALE, WHITE BEAN AND POTATO SOUP
Serves 4
Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 25 minutes
1 tablespoon olive oil 1 medium red onion, thinly sliced 1 clove garlic, chopped 4 cups low-sodium vegetable broth 1 teaspoon sherry vinegar 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes 1 cup canned white beans, drained and rinsed 1 cup diced carrots 2 cups all-purpose potatoes, peeled and diced 2 cups kale, tough stems removed, cut into thin ribbons 4 lemon wedges* Heat olive oil in a large saucepan and saute the onion and garlic for 5 minutes, or until translucent.
* Add vegetable broth, vinegar, salt, and red pepper flakes. Bring the mixture to a boil and add the white beans, carrots, potatoes, and kale.
* Return to a boil, then reduce to medium heat. Cook for 15 minutes, or until vegetables are tender.
* Ladle into individual soup bowls. Squeeze juice from lemon wedges into each. Serve with a green salad and crusty whole-grain bread.
Nutrition score per serving (2 1/2 cups): 190 calories, 4 g fat (18% of calories), <1 g saturated fat, 34 g carbs, 6 g protein, 7 g fiber, 112 mg calcium, 3 mg iron, 589 mg sodium
* TIP If you don't have white beans on hand, feel free to substitute chickpeas, kidney beans, or pinto beans.
livsmomma: that sounds yummy! But i was hoping something other then soup! I have been having soup a lot because I dont know what else I can make thats low cals and low fat. I might just do sandwiches. I really want to make whole wheat pasta with marinara sauce mixed with fat free ranch and spinach but i think it will be on the high end of cals and im scared i will overeat.
imcoolsoni: What about a stirfry? You can use spagetti squash in leiu of rice and it is still really yummy :) If you feel like something easier... I don't know if you're near it, but Trader Joes has REALLY good and natural foods with all the ingredients listed on them - frozen and fresh. And they are really inexpensive to boot (less than the regular supermarket). I shop at the ones in Jersey, but there is one in Manhattan at Union Square and there is one in Brooklyn at Court St. and Atlantic Ave. If you've never been and you can't get to it tonight I recommend going in the near future anyway! And BTW they have some really nice frozen stirfrys too :)

Thank god for Subway :) I get the salads now and use my own dressing. They also have packets of Oil and Vinegar behind the counter but you have to ask for them -- sneaky!!! I think I'll have that today for lunch.... Thanks!

Imcoolsoni- Its okay to go over a couple of cals during the week I find that it actually helps jump start my metabolism because if I stay at 1200 cals everyday I hit a plateau.So your good, you only went over a few 100 cals not gonna hurt you:-) I went over last night too.lol.I ended up making a banana bread and some homemade honey bread.I took lil bites from each but I know that added up. I can't help it I love bread!!! I'm planning to make mini bread bowls and put some creamy potato soup in them and have a side salad for dinner today. I'm not sure what the calories will be but I'm for sure going to eat light the whole day because I know bread has alot of cals in them. I feel so good today its so crazy how exercise and eating well really changes your body. I have so much more energy its crazy.I could not even sit still yesterday. I constantly had to keep doing something,I had all this energy hence all the baking I did yesterday.
Welcome brimmyhop- I dont know how you weigh yourself everyday.I hated weighing myself wekkly.I get easily discourage when I see I only lost a 1lb after I worked my ass off and ate so well. So my plan this time around is to wait until after my 6 week program exercise regimen is up. I want to keep my motivation up and weighing myself weekly is not going to cut it. I totally understand that you had no time to do the slim in 6.Thats why I waited until summer where I would have more time to concentrate on my diet. It is time consuming.I'm exercising almost two hours a day .I literally wake up do 1 video take a break and eat breakfast then do the the second video.I then clean the house make dinner and it is already 4pm.My day is already over.lol.
Saucyminx70- welcome:-) I need to lose 50 lbs too,You havent seen any results yet from the slim in 6?Oh no, what exactly is your exercise regimen and eating habits for the week. Ex. how much cals do you eat daily and how long are you exercising each day,are you doing your exercises 6 days out of the week and advancing to the next levels on the video? We need to get to the bottom of this because slim in 6 I'm sweating my ass off and every mucsle hurts in my body so I know I'm buring alot of calories. I better be burning calories!!lol.

Okay so today I definitely went over! But it's all good right? I was under yesterday so this is gonna work out okay. Here's what it looks like today!
Breakfast: (I actually was hungry!!) An extra large banana
Morning Snack: 1/2 Bagel w/ roasted red pepper hummus
Lunch: Chicken Caccaitore.. sp? And some yummy pizza dough bread stuff & 1 mini reese's cup
Dinner: Probably just a big salad seeing as how I'm already almost over. Darn lunch!
Iam shattered today,,I have burned 2000 kcal between running, and tennis !
i dont have a mood to eat ..so tired..damn..

Hi Everyone! Is it too late to join the group?? I have 19 pounds to goal, obviously that wont be on Aug 1st, but I'm a bridesmaid at a wedding on Aug 7th so the more weight I loose the better, the dress is strapless. If I can loose 15 pounds by then I will be soooo freaking happy.

well my daily workout is between 1000-1300 kcal ..
i run for 5-6K in 30 min(5 times a week) i burn 500 kcal ,after that i do cross trainer 30 min i burn 300 kcal(everyday) , and stepper for 20 min (everyday).
then I do light weight training .
but when i burn +1500 a day after the cross trainer i do spinning session, (3 times per week) I burn between 400-500 .followed by a tennis game (around 1h:30 min) or squash ..its so fun.
today my breakfast was 9 am cheese with 2 toast wholemeal bread with tea .
at 1 i had cuppa soup(around 100 kcal) , as a snack !
mmm...at 4 oclock i have chicken with littlebit pasta , 2 wholemeal bread .
and thats it for today i think no dinner..
at 9 ill ill go and play tennis ..
whatever07 : start reducing it..and read more about junck food..and see how much its bad for you..or make it 1 time per week..but make sure you train after ..
Hello everyone,I'm so exhausted today.I did very well yesterday I started off with ;
Breakfast-1 cup of cheerios 110 cal,1/2 soy milk 50 cal and a banana 110cal=270cals
lunch- twai fish and avacado salsa- 200cal
dinner- small bread bowl soup and clam chowder and veggies-595cals
snack-light mocha frappacinno from starbucks -150 cal
total cals 1195 cals
I did so good but ended up going out last night and having a strawberry daiquri.I have no clue the cals on that.lol
-I can totally tell a difference on my stomach.'he exercising is melting this fat off.I m so excited and this is only week 1.Can"t wait for all my extra weight to melt off. My pants were fitting better last night.I even lost inches around my calves because my skinny jeans were looser.lol.
Water never dry-Dang you must be a very active person to be burning that much cals a day.I bet your losing weight like crazy huh? How much cals do you consume daily??

So i had a great morning so far... I walked to the gym (1 hour of walking = 200 cals???) and then I burned 400 cals at the gym
For breakfast I had cereal and tea 300 cals
Lunch: NO IDEA cus i am going to the temple today and they are having a special service and serving lunch. I might just skip it all together and come home and have a late lunch.
Dinner: CHILLI!

I hope I still can join, I started CC on Nov. 2008 my status was 260.5 Pounds, my height: 6'1 and I am 32 years old. I had great success with continuing weight loss as I lost 43 pound till Mid Apr. 09, when I got muscle strain, and I had to stop exercise for one month, I didn’t gain any weight during that month, but I didn’t lose any weight till today even after being back to exercise one month ago, not sure if it is plateau or what is it exactly, my current weight since Mid of Apr. is between 217 to 224 for a month and half.
My goal is to lose 22 pound by end of August, currently I am not counting calories, get tired of it, but I am watching what I am eating, and from my past experience I am trying to keep my intake to 1600 calorie, but most of my calories are from Protein, complex carbohydrates (mainly vegetables and fruits), I limited eating simple carbohydrates (bread, rice, …etc.) to be only two hours after my weight lifting training.
My exercise as follow
4 days gym, each day include 60 minutes cardio with high intensity, and about 45 minutes of hard weight lifting. Burn around 1200 Calorie per time
One day I play soccer for about 90 minutes burn around 1200 calorie
Starting of beginning of July, I will add 3 times of 45 minutes high intensity walking a week (waiting for my friend to come back to start together) without eliminating any of the other exercises.
That is it, hope to be supportive to everybody in here and to get support from everyone as well. And I would like to know if any one hit a plateau before or not, and how get over it.

So my start weight was 152. My weigh in today was 146. Since this was my first week i lost a little bit more then usual. My goal for next monday is 143. Which I know will be impossible because I am invited to a bridal shower wednesday and then a wedding on friday and there is a dinner party at my house on saturday!!!
Exercise: 5 days a week. Burn 700 calories.
So it's weigh in day!!! My start weight was 145. My wiegh in this morning was 140! YAY! 5 whole pounds! I was excited as I didn't really do so well this past weekend, but I did exercise more than usual. Lots of swimming and walking... and running after the little one!
Can't wait to see everyone else's!!
