1/4 of New Yorkers haven't seen a cow

Quote  |  Reply

On my morning news, they said that 1/4 of all new yorkers have not seen a cow first hand.  I thought that was kinda crazy since I grew up seeing them daily and still see them quite frequently.

Has anyone here not seen a cow?

or anything someone has never seen or done something rather common?

I personally have never had a professional massage, had a bra fitting, eaten lobster, or worn stiletto heels.

Yeah, I've seen them.

Once I saw a cow, along with several other animals, in Rockefeller Plaza. They were shooting some kind of news show segment, I can't imagine what.
Don't they have cows in the Central Park Zoo?

I've never eaten a Klondike Bar.

coffincritter, is that the only time you've seen one??

trhawley, I was thinking about zoos...but I doubt they would be anywhere but in the petting zoo part...and I know a lot of people completely pass up that part....I know I always do...haha!

I'm always shocked when someone tells me they've never seen an ocean.

I can't think of something common that I haven't seen/done...

I pass cows on a daily basis, and I live in Houston! That's Houston for you though...farms sporadically placed within the urban areas...lol.
They have seen cows!....only in pieces ><

I'm in Houston too!!!  But I don't see cows every day anymore.  Only when I am travelling out of the city...which is actually about every weekend!  I saw them everyday when I was in oklahoma and wyoming...I think there are probably more cows than people in both those states.  haha!

Hasn't it also been said that 1 out of 4 adults in New York also have genital herpes?

Maybe there's some correlation there. 1/4 living with herpes,  1/4 haven't seen a cow.

Anyway, I've only ever seen snow one time. So, I've also never been snow skiing.

I've also never been to New York.

I've never had a cavity. Or a bikini wax. I've never been to the Grand Canyon either. Now cows....they live right down the street along with a few horse farms and a couple of sheep thrown in. My kids love driving by them. Everyday I hear "Look mom, cows!". Every single day!

i see cows all the time...rural area. there's about 4500 people in my town haha. i've never had a manicure or driven out of state...ive been out of state but never been the one driving. d*** i should do that.

Naah, my parents moved to Arizona when I was young...I saw plenty there!
I used to be shocked that (most) people had never seen or been in a hot air balloon.  Here, (some mornings) there are hundreds up in the air and some land in empy fields or parks.

I have never been on a train

I have never felt so cultured, although I have never had a professional massage or bikini wax either. I'm trying to think of things I've never done that are common, but I grew up with cows (and have seen chickens slaughtered!), I've seen the ocean, road on a train, seen lots of hot air balloons, I love snow and have been skiing, I've been to New York, I've eaten Klondike bars (too many!).

I think it's strange there are people who have never been on a plane (although I'm personally terrified of them, I've flown many times.) Or those who have never been to a Ben & Jerry's. (Grew up near the original and worked at one.)

The worst though is people who have never been out of their state. =(

I guess I've never had my eye brows waxed. That's pretty common for females. I've never been over the Mississippi river although I've been from Florida to Maine.

I live in Wisconsin and I rarely see cows.

As a new yorker.. I can probably count how many times I've seen cows. Okay, maybe not, but around 20 times? Just not too many cows reside in nyc.. (:

I am a New Yorker and I have never seen a cow.

I'm a New Yorker and I'm looking out my kitchen window at some sleeping cows right now! I think the vast majority of New Yorkers that live anywhere but the city of New York have seen plenty of farm critters. Many people equate the city with the whole state. Most of the state of New York is very tame and filled with dairy farms.

As for common things I have never done - hmm - manicure, pedicure, massage I guess I don't like being touched! I wouldn't consider a bikini wax - at 200 pounds not much chance of wearing a bikini! I've never gone paint balling either.

IS that for real?  2 million people in that city have never seen am actual cow?  2 million people never leave New York City?

I see cows whenever I leave the city I live in - (and in the city during the Stampede*).  Now, rocky mountain goats are a little more rare.  I still feel priveledged when I see one of those.

I've never seen a Tasmanian Devil though.
