Newbie to Caloriecount
Hi there I am new and I am 33years old, 5'7, and I am 181 pounds. I've let myself go over the past 2-3 years and I've kind of have told myself "ah your not that big" but there is no denying that my clothes are tight and I now have to buy larger size clothes. I am shocked how high my BMI is 28.5!!! There is no getting away from the fact that I am overweight and I must do something to reduce this. So I have dug out my weight watchers hand books and I'm going to rejoin next week. I am also going to start back swimming which I love doing.
I do have a question I take Efexor XL 300mg every day to manage my depression has anyone experienced weight gain by taking this?
I was on effexor xl for over a year and I actually lost weight. I have heard from other people that some experience weight gain while others experience weight loss while on effexor. I guess it is different for everyone, but I would think that if you are an emotional eater and effexor helps lessen your depression, that you would not feel the need to eat when not hungry.
I had to stop taking effexor because I lost my insurance, so I'm now on generic wellbuterin. Over the past 2 years I packed on 60 lbs! (not exclusively due to meds). Wish I could start taking pricey effexor again.
Hi thanks for the info, it's good to know that for me the Effexor is not an added reason to my weight gain, I can now admit to myself that it's just me eating TOO much.
How are you finding Calorie Count? I just joined yesterday and think it's a great way to keep track of everything :)
Calorie count has been a HUGE help. I've been here for about two months and I feel like if it weren't for CC I would have lost half as much weight and it would have been twice as hard.
I had so many questions when I first started because I have never really had access to good, reliable information before. My favorite forums are the fitness forum and weight loss forum. The people on there are everywhere from brand new (like me) to professional trainers. The moderator of fitness forum "Melkor" is a fountain of reliable info on fitness, calorie deficit, muscle gain, fat loss, metabolism etc.. There are a few others too that really know their stuff.
When you go there, glance through the first page or so of posts to see if there is anything you are interested in. If you have a specific question, do a search by keyword in the applicable forum. If there are no previous posts that answer your questions then start a new topic and you will most likely get great advice from the people in there.
My advice is to figure out, and use, every aspect of this website. It's easy to enter specific foods and exercises to figure out what kind of deficit you need. Try to enter everything that you eat and every activity you do, EVERY DAY. After doing this for two months I have more of an intuitive sense of what I need to eat and how I need to exercise, I don't really have to think about it.
Good luck and stay positive!
