Hello everybody! I decided I had to get serious this summer when my husband had a heart attack in July. I'm in better health than he was (low BP, lower cholesterol) but due to some medications I've taken over the last 10-12 years I'm quite fat for my height. My husband immediately went on the South Beach diet and has lost 40 pounds since then! He's already halfway to his target weight. I tried over and over but I can't go completely carb-less. I can reduce my carb intake, though, and cut out as much of the refined sugars as possible. So with help from this site, I can easily monitor my carb intake AND my calories.
Hi! I hear you on the carbs! I started to "get serious" with my diet in Jan 07, lost 50 lbs, had some major life changes, gained 10, and now, I'm back. Wanted to go carb free for the quick weight loss for the next three weeks (30 yr HS reunion), but crave them. But I try to stick to high fiber whole grains.
Isn't it amazing how well men lose weight? I hope your husband is getting better. My girlfriend's husband had a heart attack in April. Such a shock as I think of us as young! Oh well.
Good luck!

Im sorry to hear about your Hubby and Im glad he is doing well. 2 nights ago I choked on coffee.. it was bad enough that I passed out. When i came too my wife was in tears.. She is an RN and was unable to get my 300lbs of worldliness out of my chair to try CPR. It broke my heart so here I am.
