Newbie Looking for Christian Friends to Partner With
My name is Robin and I am new to this site. I am 41 years old and I was on the Biggest Loser Online Club, where I lost 32 lbs. so far, but couldn't afford to keep paying for it. I had a wonderful group of Christian friends on the message board there and miss them already! We would encourage each other, pray for each other, and make each other laugh hysterically! It would be great to find a group, like-minded in our faith in Christ and who want to break free from our addictions and hang-ups with food. I would love to hear from some of you!
My husband is a Baptist pastor in Oklahoma, where I lead the worship and the women's ministry. We have 3 great kids ages 19, 14, and 7.
Blessings,
Robin
Welcome Nancy, Pam, Taryn, and Ranae....I don't think I"ve said "hi" to ya'll yet. I hope you will all check in often with your comments, struggles, prayer requests, even humorous observations on life and family. We all need friends that we can relate with on this journey, and even though we don't "know" each other, I can attest to the fact that on the Biggest Loser message board, we all grew to know each other's personalities and humor so well, that we could have recognized the person posting without seeing their face or name! I would love to see that same kind of thing happen here. It really helped me a lot. I have tagged this thread so that I can get to it easily.
I checked on being able to change the setting so that the most recent post is at the top. Unfortunately, it is not possible at this time. So we will have to keep scrolling down and down.
Oh, "toast", what is your name? I would like to start recognizing names to go along with the pictures on here.
Please let me know if any of you have any ideas for things we could do as a support group, such as weighing in once a week, posting favorite verses, etc...On the BL site we even did our own challenges 4 and 6 weeks at a time. I was in the middle of one when my subscription expired! Let me know your ideas and thoughts!
Well, I am about to head off to our small group study on "parenting teens".
Take care all,
robin
My name's Maggie, but most of the people I know call me toast because of my insane obsession with, you guessed it, TOAST! XD
Hi everyone. I thought I would check in. I am very new to this and I do notice that most of you have send message on your home page. What is this for and how do you set this up. If you notice anything funny or something that would make this easier for me just let me know.
Now for the change of eating, this is day 2 and it is going pretty good but them again I am only back to work for 4 hours right now, and have a little now time to think and make these meals. Today was very painfull but each day the knee should be getting better, I hope. I cooked chicken from a ww (weight watcher) cookbook that I had and it was very good and easy. It was only 292 but please do realize it was a very small protion but so satifing. Oh, buy the way I am a bad speller. If anyone is interested in the receipe just let me know. It is nice to know that we have each other and the Lord to help us, and believe me after years of trying so many thing, I believe this could work.
If we set goals can we make the small, like trying to lose to loose 1 or 2 pound a week, or staying on the diet (change of eating) for 5 day. For me it is so much better if the goal is smaller.
have a great day

Maggie....Had toast this morning!! I buy the nature's own double fiber bread..Only 50 calories a slice and 5 fibers per slice! So I had the toast, Smart Balance Spread, which get's a B+ on the analysis chart here on CC, and Quaker Oats High Fiber Oatmeal.
Nancy, I don't really know what you are talking about with the "send message" button..But I will check it out and see if I can find it. I just tagged this thread and then to get back to it, I click "tagged items", then "forum" and there it is...If there is an easier way, I'd like to know it too. It does take a while to get familiar with all this site has to offer and to navigate it all. I'm sure there are features on here that I am not yet utilizing...You are right, Nancy, about setting your goals small. Something I have done in the past is to give myself a treat at every 10 lb. loss I reach...NOT FOOD, but maybe a new nightgown, or a new book, just a little something that says "Yea me!!"
I think the best advice I could give is just not to give up, even when the loss is very small. I went thru about a 4-6 week period of losing just ONE lb. a week! But God helped me not to get discouraged and I continued on, and now the last two weeks I have lost 5.5 lbs. It IS going to fluxuate, and my husband encouraged me by saying: Even if you lose only 1 lb a week, in one year that is 52 lbs! There will be up weeks and down weeks, but stay consistent. AND throw your body a curveball now and then to shake things up. Mix up your exercise routines and choices of activities and times of day. Your body comes to know what to expect and gets in a routine. Our bodies respond to change-ups. Even what you eat now and then needs to be altered...For example, the whole 4-6 weeks that I only lost 1 lb a week I was eating no sugar, no desserts, NOTHING!...But the week I had the cheesecake splurge ( 2 very small pieces in 2 days ) I lost 3 lbs. It's like my body said, "What is this?? I better get to burnin' that off! " If you normally do your exercise in the morning, do it in the evening for a few days and catch your body off guard.
I highly recommend the Biggest Loser Fitness book. It is probably my favorite besides the cookbook. It gives you several circuit training routines for beginner, medium and advanced levels. Pictures and instructions. You can get the BL books at Wal Mart or any major bookstore.
Have a great day everyone!!
Robin
Robin,
You can't go to the most recent postings on a topic, but what you can do (and I use this a lot) is place your mouse over "Community" and you'll see some drop down selections. If you click on "My Posts," it will take you to a screen with all your posts. If you select one, you will go to the place in the thread where your post is located and then you can continue to read the thread from there. I use this to help me return to larger threads without having to seach through pages of posts looking for where I was when I last posted there. I Hope that helps! I'll try to check in every day or so, but sometimes I get tied up in other stuff and don't find time to post. Take care and God bless!
Pam
Thanks Pam...I will try that out!

This weekend was so frustrating for me. I went to two parties on Saturday and to a friends for dinner on Sunday. Just that information can give you an idea of the willpower needed to get to Monday. I am back on track now, but I can't go back and undo anything. I feel like I really need to keep my momentum going in the right direction. RANT: Sometimes it stinks to see super skinny people that can eat whatever they want and not gain any weight....ugh
Hi Sara...Welcome to the group! Hope you have much success with this website. It has already helped me and I am new too, only a couple of weeks. I didn't weigh in this week because of pms water weight that I can see and feel! I don't want it to mess with my head and get me discouraged, so I am waiting til next week to weigh. Only 3 lbs to go to hit the "under 200" mark! Don't know if I'll make it this week, but I know I will reach it soon.
Ruth, sorry you had a discouraging weekend. Just don't let it get in your head as failure. Just begin again each day. One of my favorite quotes is from the movie "Anne of Green Gables".....Tomorrow is always fresh with no mistakes in it!"
We can't go back and undo what we've done, but we can learn and move on. I totally understand about the skinny people. I have to deal with that with my sister who has always had the perfect body and is super cute. She's never had a weight problem and I've always been a bit jealous of that. But it is my problem to work through, not hers. I guess I just have to accept that God made me the way He made me, including my metabolism and tendencies to hold onto the weight and I guess my battle with it is serving some higher purpose.
I'm thinking of going out in the pool and walking for a while.
Ya'll have a good night,
Robin
Hey Robin,
My name is Alyson, I am a Christian and attend a Baptist Church in NC. I lead the youth and Praise and Worship there but also have a full time job so I am busy which unfortunately leads to fast food and bad habits I am trying to break!
I've been on the site since mid June and have lost 22 pounds so far. Love the tracking tools, recipe savers and recipes, coupons, activity search and the success stories! I had not connected with anyone on the site though, so I'm excited to meet you!
Hope you are having a fabulous week!
Alyson <><
Hi everyone, I have been sick with an infection but getting better. I believe that i have gain the 5 pounds that i lost. i need to get on the scale and start in again. I crave sweets, any one know what could help??
countryride- what really helps me is eating fruit when i crave sweeties. grapes, cherries, blueberries, raspberries and watermelon especially, because they're so sweet i feel like i'm eating candy. but if you really need a sweet fix, i go with skinny cow's chocolate truffle bar. it's only 100 calories an oh so satisfying.
Hi Robin. I would love to join your forum. I was raised Baptist, but now attend a Non-Denominational Christian based Fellowship Church. A little about myself. I'm a 30 year old, 5'8, 152 lbs, looking to drop just about 10 pounds in order to squeeze into my wedding dress (lol) the wedding is April 24th, so I also have to maintain. I used to be active, but it's so hard working full time, planning a wedding, very active in church,etc.etc....The usual. I think it would be awesome to bond w/others with the same interest and goals. I'm also a great support person for anyone who just needs encouragement.
I look forward to the new friendships.![]()
Hello, Robin. So glad to see your forum for Christians . I am a Baptist preacher's wife, too. I just joined yesterday and already am over my calorie allowance. I need to analyze before I eat! Oh well...sigh. I am so looking forward to support and encouragement but I know I also need accountability. Looking forward to sharing with all of you.
