newbie Looking to lose 14 - 28 pounds by end of 2009
Hi All
Let me star by saying wow I'm glad i have found this site! It looks like the place that might help me to reach my goal. There seems to be lots of people in the same boat so to say.
Well my introduction,
I am 27 yrs and live in Lincolnshire, England. I have had infertility issues for 7 yrs and as a result i have had to turn to IVF which meant that i have to lose a lot of weight for the NHS to fund my treatment. So i did a very low calorie diet which i was very successful with and lost a mega 5&1/2 stone. This was all good for a very short time but then when my IVF failed i gained weight and then my step sister died i gained more then i have just had an ectopic pregnancy 6 wks ago which yet again i have turned to food for comfort. I have found that i have gained 4&1/2 stone all through stress and comfort eating which i know i have done wrong and now i need to correct that and look forward.
I understand that i may not lose weight very quickly but as long as i can aim to lose at least 1 & 1/2 stone by end of year 2009 i can then go ahead and fund my next cycle of IVF. Which in itself is a big goal but i know how hard that is going to be.
Hence the reason for me being here today i would like to turn to you guys for some support and help in the best ways to lose weight. I work full time in admin so sat at a desk all day. Me and my Fiancé are going to start to have a nice 30 Min's stroll in the evening to help increase my fitness.
Sorry if i have mumbled too much, and thank you all in advance for your help.
good luck to all with their weight lose and maintaining of weight.
Take care

Hi Zoe,
I joined CC a week ago and have been looking for a "friend" to do this with as well. I am 44 years old and live in Colorado at 6,250 feet elevation (I hope these conversions won't be too hard) I want to lose 40 pounds to begin with to be within normal BMI ranges and then very slowly work the rest off. I used to weight 125 pounds AFTER giving birth to my only daughter. I developed thyroid cancer 4 years after she was born and in 6 years time I had gained 101 pounds despite exercising 60 minutes a day 5 days a week! they got my thyroid medication right and I lost 60 of the 101 pounds in 2 years. Wow, did it feel good! I then broke my arm in January and my foot in September and all those weeks/months in casts gave me a good excuse to quit exercising and once you stop exercising it seems like the food things falls away as well. I only gained back 20 pounds but heck! that's one third! So now I am here to lose those 20 and another 20 and we'll see how I look and feel and go from there.
I have a friend who went through IVF 4 times and gained alot of weight as well, she finally adopted a baby and has lost 80 pounds in the past 2 years, she swears it's from chasing the baby!
Well, in order to be of support, tell me what makes you eat the wrong foods or too much food? I am an emotional eater, I eat when I am sad, anxious, happy......find me an emotion and I'll find a you a Starbucks coffee shop!
My newest motivation is a trip I am planning in January 2009. I am going to Jackson Hole, Wy. it's a tiny little ski town in the Teton Mountains in Wyoming, they have the coolest bar.....The Million Dollar Cowboy bar and they have dancing and bands every night. I found this dress online and right now I'd look like a Polish sausage stuffed in that dress, BUT, if I am good and exercise like I should and stay out of Starbucks I could look pretty fabulous by January 23rd. So I have 8 weeks to do this and I KNOW I can do it..............but a little help from a friend would be wonderful.
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day in America, it's supposed to be a day of thanks for the bountiful harvest but in our day and age people use it as an excuse to eat until they are in pain. I am planning a small dinner and will only eat what will go on my Eat Meter and stay within my calories for the day.
Well, if you're interested in doing this together I'd love to be a motivator!
