Newby here - with little signs of success!
Ok so I might be being impatient!
I started calorie counting 10 days ago... I try to stick between 1200 and 1300 cals. On a couple of occasions I have gone over though, but also have come in under a few times too!
How long will it take to show me any results, I lost a pounds and a half the other day but it went straight back on...
I am 146llbs and 5'5 want to get down to 126llbs... but quickly get frustrated if I don't see results...
Any one got any advice to speed it up so I can keep motivated please...
im having the saaame problem. are you working out to lose weight or just dieting? i think more workouts might help me out--that's goign to be the next thing i try to speed this along.
but its nice eating and living healthily, isn't it? its been a great change for me!
I recently started and the weight loss hasn't been as much as I would have wanted. Are you working out/exercising at all? That might help. I'm trying to tell myself that slow is good. I read somewhere on here that said the average weight loss is .5 - 2 pounds/week. Not the pace I'm used to, but it means I'm actually making smarter decisions w/ my meals, working out, and I have to trust that that is enough. Hope it helps, but I hear you.
Remember the old fable of the tortoise and the hare, except here there is no hare.
No one has a magical way of getting instant results or even quick results. The whole site is set up to encourage you to look at things in a long term, permanent lifestyle altering way.
You are trying to lose 15% of your body weight that isn't going to happen in a fortnight unless you start amputating limbs. Which isn't a recommendation by the way! ![]()
At 2 pounds a week your 15% target will happen August time which in the bigger picture isn't that far away. For my 15% I will have to wait till Xmas!!!
Relax enjoy your life as a low cal tortoise.
Hang in there. Just remember that you have embarked on a new lifestyle. The excess pounds will be shed in due time. Since we aren't going to go back to our old sedentary lifestyle and poor eating habits, it doesn't really matter that it takes awhile to see success. Just stick with it! Think of how great it will be to look fantastic, feel great and be satisfied with healthy foods - no more cravings, no more binges and no more guilt afterwards!
It's hard to notice the changes at first because you see yourself every day. I'll bet when you see someone you havent in a while, they will definitely notice. Thats how it happened with me! I didn't believe it that my body had actually lost weight til someone said so.. then I started re-evaluating my figure and noticed too.
Also, like everyone else said, it doesn't happen overnight. Just give it some time and stick in there. I have lost 46 lbs since January and when I look back.. January wasn't very long ago!
Just DON'T GIVE UP! We all fall off the wagon every now and then. But the only way to keep losing weight is to not get discouraged and jump back on IMMEDIATELY! ( i used to be the one saying "ill start my diet monday") Why monday? Start it now!
It's so frustrating, isn't it?! Loosing weight is one of the hardest things to do. I don't know why, either. It should be simple. You want to loose weight, so you eat less, but there's SO many other factors involved. Keep trying...that's what I'm doing. GOOD LUCK!
