Your next cheat day/item?

Quote  |  Reply

I like to have a relaxed/cheat day once a week, usually on the weekend. It keeps me motivated to be 'good' during the week and changes things up so I don't get bored. It must be working because I've lost 20kgs (40-ish pounds)! For my next cheat treat I'm thinking a Baskin Robbins sundae yuuuum!

How about you?

usually weekends..but i still keep an eye on my intake..if i want to treat my self i eat like a 1 piece cake or 1 kitkat bar or some crackers or ice cream .

but most of the weeks i dont treat my self..cause i feel like i have changed..i dont carve madly to chocolates  anymore , or any unhealthy food..specially the junk food .

Painted_lady -- I used to work at baskin-robbins, and just want to tell you to be super careful with the sundaes!! They can be really high calorie and they are so, so small.

If I were you, I would just get a 4 oz scoop of a "plain" flavour (strawberry, non-fat vanilla yogurt, chocolate) and ask them to put some whipped cream on top!

All sundaes are made with 2.5 oz scoops, so you get 5 oz of ice cream, and a ladle of topping and all that .. it can run really high, especially if you get any topping that isn't strawberry.

But it's your cheat day, and eat what you want! I just was worried if you had some kind of limits or anything. (ps. we have some great no-sugar-added flavors, too!)

xo ari

I've been doing really good lately, so I bought a tub of my favorite ice cream this weekend. Mmmmm ( I have a 1/2 cup of ice cream every night, but have a less tempting flavour kicking around usually)

It's actually a low fat frozen yogurt, but it's so good that I have a very hard time limiting myself to the 1/2 cup serving, @ 120cals 2.5g fat. Last night I had extra cals left so I enjoyed 2/3 of a cup and felt really indulgent! LOL

Wow, where did the days go when I would have sat down with a tub of Cherry Garcia and a spoon, and not thought twice???

yesterday we went to ikea and I had pasta with alfredo and chicken.  It was good, but then I felt horrible afterwards when I had no idea how many calories were in it so I had cheerios for dinner!  I am not very good at these cheat things hahaha.

I seem to be going all guns blazing at the mo and I love how seeing all the gorey ins and outs of my meals on caloriecount makes me feel full and satisfied and I just dont seem to be tempted that much.

Having said that...I do keep eyeing up a certain chocolate covered and chocolate filled doughnut at the store which just has my name all over it for one day soon! Foot in mouth

This Thursday!! I am going to a sushi bar and im so excited! I haven't had sushi in monthssss.

this is a good question. hmmmm maybe I'll share a doughnut with someone at church... but will more likely be a cheat buffet meal as usual.

My first cheat day is June 19th. I'm going to treat myself to a small DQ Blizzard. Maybe chocolate brownie.

This is such a great idea, it will (hopefully) delay my desire for cheat foods, and then I can really think about what I want to eat rather than simply eating things I am not supposed to and because it happens to be in the cupboard. (I know the cheat foods should not be there but my husband buys them for himself and our son). I think I will have a cheat day on Saturday and then eat  something that I really feel like! Hmmm............what will it be?

haha i know baskin robbins is very very bad! but i've been craving one for aaaaages so for me i have to give into these cravings occasionally or  i'd end up binging and going crazy Laughing also having one cheat thing per week gives me time to really think about what i want. then i appreciate it more when i have it. plus its funny when you only allow it once a week you realise how much crap you used to eat and how much of it you don't crave anymore.

(on the topic of ice-cream, i also love skinny cow mini sundaes 105 cals, yum!)

I don't have cheat days, but I am certainly looking forward to my dinner: Salmon Belly & Spaghetti Squash! The combo is marvelous because the salmon's healthy fat infuses the squash! LOL - I know, way to get technical! But it is so great that it feels like I am "cheating".

I've been thinking about this...beyond the super tasty healthy meals I look forward to, I'm really curious to try that brownie blizzard thing at DQ!  I'll probably con my boyfriend into splitting a small with me so I can taste a few bites without the calorie bomb effect...a taste is all I really want anyway!

So how do you all manage the delayed gratification thing? I already cheated today when I said I would wait til Saturday. What keeps you strong?

I set weights that I have to reach before I can have a SPECIFIC cheat meal...like I wanted KFC for 6 months and made myself wait for it.

Otherwise, I now have the self control to decide when it's okay to eat something I normally wouldn't.  I probably only do it once or twice a month honestly and even then, I probably just hit maintenance calories.  Trust me, cheating gets old.  The second you eat too much of your favorite pasta dish, or go overboard at a cookout and you feel so bloated and sick...You'll never want to do it again.

well I did it... yup buffet it was... golden corral.

Back around Christmas and to start 2009 just for a snack on any given day I would do something like drink 4 or 5 Imperial Stouts, most  of which had over 200 calories a bottle, and eat an entire bag of regular Ruffle potato chips (1440 calories or so); plus, I would eat 2 or 3 regular meals, too, that day.  For over 3 months now I have been on a strict diet/exercise regimen.  But since I have reached my target weight--or close to it--I am going to treat myself this weekend to a six-pack of some low-calorie light beer (600 calories) and to two 6.5 oz. bags of Ruffles Light potato chips (910 total calories).  That won't put be too severe on my 2200 a day calorie diet.

Congratulations on your weight loss painted_lady :)

My next treat day is next saturday and I'll have a packet of cool doritos yummy :D

I don't really do cheats because I'm afraid it will spark off a week-long binge.  Instead I just have a little of what I like almost every day.  For example, a cup of coffee with real half and half and real sugar.  And at bedtime, warm milk with sugar and vanilla.  I incorporate this stuff into my diet so that I don't get a crazy sugar craving and eat a pint of ben and jerry's one of these nights.. haha :)

I already have my order placed for my weekend cheat meal. Hand tossed Pizza with bacon and feta cheese on half, sausage and bell peppers on the other half for the boyfriend. For dessert double churn vanilla bean ice cream with captain crunch mixed in. Guilty pleasure of mine :)

I've been craving some spicy hot wings!!!! yummy... the thing is that I can't bring myself to do it... I keep getting scared of all the calories that I would be eating... This sucks.. I want wings!!!!!!!!!!!

How can I make walking fun?

You have to find a way to make exercise fun or else you won't do it. If you walk indoors on a treadmill, I recommend moving outdoors into the fresh air... Read more
