night eating cal. distribution (help!)

Quote  |  Reply

Ok, have a night eating issue. I'm in the process of dealing with it, but I'm wondering, where do you log the calories consumed? the following day, the previous day, or split between the two.

If anyone else had/has this problem I'd love to hear about it, or what they have done to beat it/work on it.

I would think the best and easiest way to keep track is to literally follow the clock.  If you have eaten anything before 12am one day, log it for that day.  If you are eating at say, 2am, you should be logging for the next.

Normally, I would consider the end of your day as to when you fall asleep, but if you are typically falling asleep late into the night (after 12am) and you regularly eat late, the clock itself is going to be the best way to log.

I've also been a late night eater and what I've found to be the best remedy is to make some hot, non-caffeinated tea.  I've found that it takes my craving for food away since I'm putting something to my mouth.  OR, hot chocolate works really well too, especially in place of a dessert.

peppermint tea helps.  & i used to take a fiber drink before i went to bed, helps to fill you up & hopefully do some work while sleeping. also i eat late some times but i just start the new day after i sleep, its a whole 6-7 (some times 5, oops) hours away. it depends, try both & see which works for you. to keep motivated if i slip up, i usually have to just mentally start a new day.

Does anyone wake up at night (as in from sleep) to eat? like you wake up and you'll be fully awake and you go to the kitchen and eat? I find that it doesnt give me enough time between eating and waking up and will leave me hung over from the food, IE full drowsy etc. I have tried everything, tea, milk, pre bed time snacks. I know what you mean octo-luv, about mentally having to start a new day even though you may still feel full. I always have to get up in the morning and eat breakfast, since i have to try and "right"whatever eating may have led to the night snacking.
