I've been getting this for the past 3 days while running which is pretty damn painful. What can I do to protect myself from this nagging pain?
Wear a tight fitting undershirt.
HAHAHAHAHAHA!
This happened to me the other day when I was wearing a mesh shirt. I had to cover my nipples in the shower for like three days! My suggestion: Wish for more nipple hair. =p

You probably could use the same cream women use while breastfeeding. Look in the baby aisle.....

This isn't exactly what I mean but similar....you should be able to get a really small container for alot less.
Good luck..... *ouch*

more hair, I can't stand hair. That won't work, lol... I've already tried 3 different shirts... Salome, my fiance has some of that I think, she is breastfeeding. I'll try that as oddly as that sounds. Thanks.
lanolin is the cream, its AWESOME and lasts forever and ever. and great for lips and cuticles and anything else that gets dry or chapped.
and i think bubba is right, wearing a tight shirt will protect ur nipples from rubbing. i cant tell if you are a guy or a girl, but if you are a girl, you need a better fitting sports bra, and if you are a guy, similar thing. also look into something that will keep moisture away, that will make it worse as well.
good luck and poor nipples!!
Edit: hehe i didnt see the pic that pops up with ur name... sorry about not knowing ur gender ;)

I use Vasiline. Works great!
it just seems like vasoline or what ever other cream or jelly would just get absorbed by my layers of shirts... I don't know... I'm going to the gym tonight and don't want this to happen again. I'll trust that vasoline or the breastfeeding cream will work.
Lanolin should fer sure work, that stuff will do magic on sore nipples! (I hope don't piss anyone off for using the word "magic" on this website....)
Edit: Glad I'm not the only one who thought you could have been a chick! Sorry again bout the prenatal vitamin thing :)

yeah I dont get that^^. Would a chick post a pic of herself laying on the couch with her shirt off? That's okay, I forgive you.
hee hee......
I know the cream sounds weird but it will work just the same for you.
Good luck.

Band-aids if it gets too bad.
I had to put tea bags on my nipples...

I fear I've finally gone too far with the 'sharing experiences' thing

wear a under armor shirt or other sweat moving fabric, you have to, trust me it will make all the difference.
I've dealt with a lot of chafing from football shoulder pads in high school and it's painful as hell. That was before there was under armor... I might have to buy one if the cream doesn't work.
You can buy little square band-aids. Their cheap and they work great. Just make sure you trim the hair back.
that happens to me dude. there are several options:
1) jog without a shirt.
2) bandaids - i see someone already said that. but it's easy and it works.
3) buy very soft shirts. use loads of fabric softener.
4) trim your pubes and superglue them to your nipples.

1) i just rolled over laughing at the "trim the pubes" line. freaking hilarious.
2) sometimes women post pics of their kids, dogs, significant others etc instead of their own pic. i was already mid comment when i realized i didnt know and i couldnt pull up ur profile or see the pic when i scrolled over ur name at that point. you could just select being male so the darn person would turn blue :)
again, sorry.

i'm blue, right? i mean... i can see blueness.
take it from a runner. Bodyglide

During your current healing process, use bandaids.
Technical shirts don't always work, especailly for longer runs, but definately no cotton shirts.
Best Wishes, Geo
