I dont quite understand the activity log on this website. On the home page for my account it includes "normal calorie expenditure" in the calories I have burned. Which totals about 1600. But when I actually click on Activiy Log, it only includes the other things I have input. Which today only totalled about 100 cals. :(
So which is correct? I know I need to work out more either way, but Im a little confused!
haha
thankss

you add the two together. so your body uses abotu 1600 just functioning, and then you burn another 100 through your activity. that means you burned about 1700 total.
Your activity log shows how many "extra" calories you burn that day through excersise.
the main page will show what you burn all thogether over the whole day burning calories from living and excercising. The home page is more accurate. look at the total on that page, and it should be correct.
for example:
Bicycling - Stationary, 200 Watts, Vigorous Effort 30 min 352 cals
Normal Calorie Expenditure (?) 1,410 mins 1,740 cals
Total Burned Calories 2,092
normal calorie expenditure is what I burn throughout the day doing basic activities, like living. My bicycling is what I added on my activity log page. If I go to my log page it shows that I burned only 352cals, this means I burned 352 more calories than I normally do just living (1440 minutes=24 hours). The total calories I burned so far today is about 2,092cals. I hope this helps clear things up.

hmm, so If the total is 1500, and I only eat 1300, then I am burning more than Im consuming?
yep, I think you've got it.
haha. okay thanks
I'm trying to gain so that means I need to eat more than my expenditure? Is that how it works?
yep flowurpowur. If you want to gain weight, you should eat more than your total expenditure. I would start off slowly to make sure that you are gaining at a healthy rate. Maybe add 400-600calories above your expenditure, and aim to gain about .5lbs a week or so. good luck. :)
I just have a hard time believing that I burn 1800 calories a day without hopping onto an elliptical machine.
I have a question too, suppose I consumed 1300 cal which is my required rate to lose weight and I exercised for an hour and burned 300 calories, would it mean that if I continued eating like this I ll go into starvation mode, or I should eat few hundred extra calories on the day I exercise like 1500 calories so that after burning calories through exercise I have leftover of 1300 calories. I hope I am making sense.thx.
I have same question as you Samra, I eat 1500-1700 cals and I burn about 2052.
