what is normal for one day?!?!?

Quote  |  Reply

Hi guys!

so I try to weigh myself just once a week so I can get a more accurate number for my weight loss or weight gain. I was just wondering, how much weight gain or loss is normal throughout one day? Because I weighed myself when I woke up and It said 128.6, which I haven't even seen the 120s in like over 7 years, so I thought it had to be wrong. So I weighed myself later, and it still said the same thing. I go and eat a cinammon bun for breakfast (bad I know) and weigh myself just to check and now it says 130.2. I still had a hard time believing that because the week before I was 133.6. but i thought it could be possible since i have been sick. The rest of the day all I ate was some chicken noodle soup, minestrone soup, and toast. Along with about 3 cups of tea, all with honey added, and just for shits and giggles i weighted myself again at the end of the day and now it says 134.8 Is this normal? I always heard to weight yourself in the morning and that your weight fluctuates during the day but going from:

128.6 to

130.2  to

134.8 ...

is this normal?

any advice would be great~!

thanks!

Were they packet soups? They can have a lot of sodium, maybe it was water retention. Also was it all on the same scales?
it's perfectly normal so don't worry about it, very irritating i know, so only go by one of the weights, either morning or night (morning is naturally better).

Resist the temptation of waying yourself more than once a week, though weighing yourself once a day isn't unhealthy, it does shatter your self esteem quite a bit.

Congrats on getting into the 120's btw.

It depends on a bunch of factors...

I'm 6'2" and I can easily fluctuate by 5 lbs over the course of the day.

I can even add or subtract half a pound purely by standing on the scale differently.  Yes even the expensive digital scales at the gym.

salomershy -- nope they weren't packets. one was progresso, and the other was campbells healthy recipie. so i am not really sure.  but it was the same scale each time!

curalium-- okay thanks!! I know it is really annoying, i only record my morning weight each Weds. I just have that habit of wanting to see, even though it just confuses me. ugh, too bad the 120s was just a fluke, but thanks anyways!

sarkeizen-- i try to weight myself every weds. at around the same time, and before i eat breakfast but it always manages to end up different when i weight myself again later in the day, but like a good 5-6lbs difference. which i thought was a bit much since i am only 5'5, but i don't know. we will see. thanks thou!

I read an article once that said your body can fluctuate within 5 lbs throughout the day. Don't fret; your first morning weight should be the most correct!

I am very confused. If your body fluctuates so much, how are you supposed to know if the 1-2 lbs you "lost" in a week have actually been lost or if it's just weird fluctuation........?
Yaaaah, riiiiite. It cracks me up when people ' dieting ' eat pancakes loaded with butter. or syrup. Or cake. Or brownies. Or honey.Or enriched flour. Come on people. No wonder. That's how you got into the predicament. That's not breakfast. Have an apple rice cake. Or oatmeal. Or cheerios. Seriously now.

I understand slipping up, but that's just counter productive. - eyes open -Lets eat frosting! cocoa puffs and whoopers. It's that ridiculous. Allowing yourself a treat is within your allowance is one thing. However, that's just unacceptable on a real level. Go to realage.com and learn about things dieters shouldn't partake in eating.

If that's breakfast followed by ' my bad ' I can see why the scale hasn't budged. Get serious. Or just don't act so concerned.
um if you read this you would see that I wrote, bad I know after talking about eating the cinnamin bun for breakfast. That was the only time I have done that, and I did it because I wasn't feeling good and I thought it would make me feel better. Usually I eat oatmeal or mini wheats for cereal, so no that is not why I had any weight fluctuations.
i have been surfing posts for about 10-15 minutes now, and you guys are all being mean to eachother. whats up with that? are we all having our totm? hope you all feel cheerier in the morning.
by the way, i go up and down in weight all day too, but only count my morning weight. i ignore the others, and i have still lost 16 or so lbs. just try to stay focused on the bigger picture, okay? eating will make your weight seem to go up, but its just food in your belly and stuff like that. don't stress it. :)

maybe there all pmsing silvraynebow....lol...
