Is it normal for a teenager to feel the sudden need to eat more?

I usually ate around 1500 calories/day and walked around 3-5 km almost every day of the week. Now I've increased the distance to 8-10 km and even after eating 2000 or maybe more calories, I still feel really really hungry. I was wondering if the hunger has anything to do with a growth spur or something. I'm 15 but I've already reached the maximum height of the women in my family.
Answer
A ravenous appetite is normal during adolescence, and your hunger might have to do with a growth spurt. Just because you’re taller than the women in your family, doesn’t mean you’ve finished growing. Furthermore, if your BMI is within the healthy weight range, you might be hungry because your body is resisting weight loss. Honor the wisdom of your body and eat when you are hungry. Your appetite will vary from day-to-day and from week-to-week.
