Nothing to wear in the process of losing weight...has anyone experienced this?
I've lost about 5 of the 30 pounds I'm trying to lose, and I'm having a really hard time getting dressed for the day because I'm still trying to hide certain parts of my body. I know I shouldn't hide, but I'm trying to dress comfortably with what is right for me and I'm just not comfortable with my body yet (and I'm working hard to change that). At the same time, I still want to look nice and take care of my appearance and flatter my figure while I'm losing weight. It takes me so long to pick out an outfit and I usually just end up wearing about 2 or 3 outfits repeatedly...it gets so frustrating. I have money saved up to buy brand new clothes once I hit my goal weight and it's been great motivation so far. But I really don't want to spend a lot of money on clothes that are just not going to fit me in a few months or so, for right now. Has anyone felt like this? Do you have any tips? :/

I had this problem. I went out and spent a bunch of money on new clothes every month it seemed like then when all my weight was off I had nothing to wear and no money. I've just finished getting my wardrobe built up and I've been wearing the same size for 2 years now. Don't spend you saved money on temporary stuff because you will end up like me.
What I would suggest is to find a couple of nice consignment stores around your area and shop there. My favorite thrift store just shut down so I am bummed but a lot of thrift stores are really nice and have really nice stuff that you can buy for cheap.
Oh sweetie! Thrift Stores. Not only do you get some inexpensive clothing, but you are generally adding to the income of those that need the financial help. Don't go buy anything that is new right now. You know that you are going to be a different size next month or week. Be patient. Help the less fortunate. I don't care if it's used. Once I purchase it off the rack it becomes used for someone else anyhow. ![]()
yeah, for awhile there i was wearing my old size 10 and 12 pants rather than buying 8s, because i was so sure i was going to be a 6 any minute. but--you know--you gotta have pants.
I wear suits to work everyday, so they hide alot, and can be worn slightly large. I am hoping to have them tailored down when I reach the halfway mark. Buying women's suits that fit is way to expensive to replace each size I go down.
I am also hoping that what I have will last (i tended to keep the smaller jeans and shirts hoping I would on day get back into them)
When I reach my final goal it will be a shopping spree for sure.
I was going to suggest tailoring as well. If you have a ZIPs drycleaners around you they usually do tailoring for pretty cheap. Or you could take a class at a craft store and they will teach you how to tailor your own clothes. That actually transfers into everyday life after you lose all your weight because you can tailor things to fit your body that you love on a hanger but aren't just right. This is cheaper than tailoring everything at a drycleaners or actual tailors through your weight loss journey anyway. I think classes are usually between $100-$300. I'm not sure if that's worth it to you, but I think being able to tailor your own stuff forever might make up for the cost of the class!
