NOTHINGS working!

Quote  |  Reply

i dont know what to do! i dont even know my real weight. i've seen it from 82-88 , goign pu and down CONSTANTLY.

yesterday, iw as 85.5 (bad, i was 86 @ dr's) this mroning, i'm 83.5. WHY!?!?

its sooo upsetting. you guys have NO idea how much i've been eating. i'm even forced to drink that NASTY ensure plus stuff.... AND i force myself to eat more (esp @ night right before bed)..... i eat so much (mix of calorie dense and nto dense), that i woke up with HUGE digestion problems= medicine.

why cant i gain weight/!?!?!? i EVEN reduced my exercize tothis: (could this still be problem?)
1. 1 mile ex per week (NO MORE AEROBICS)
monday= upper body weights 30min-hr
tuesday= lowerbody weights 30min- hr
wed= abs (should i stop this? i'm afraid my stomach would look bigger after stomach weight distribution) 30min- hr
thurs, fri, sat, = repeat
sun= rest

:(.... why cant i gain??!!??!!?
if i dont do this by myself, my dad will start forcing food on me. and thats my biggest stress/ issue. right now, atleast i can eat my dinner peacefully and happily, but whats gona happen if he finds out i'm not gaining weight....???
why arent i gaiing weight? what am i doing wrong?

fears: i wont be able to stop eating like a weight gainer even after my healthy weight and become over weight

What is your average intake? It may be that you need even more than you are eating now.

Try not to obsess over normal weight fluctuations. Exactly how long have you been eating to gain?

Are you keeping close track of your calorie intake? How many calories does your doctor recommend?

You should try working out every other day  or at least taking one more rest day during the week. maybe alternate days with something light and relaxing like stretching or pilates. (I think relaxation is something you definitely NEED to focus on!)

Try upping your protein too since you're building muscle lifting weights.

Let me know how you're doing...Good luck!

i honestly have no idea...

i';ve been "estimating" around 2500-3000+.........
but i'm pretty sure tis alot over/under the truth.

i;be been trying to"listen to my bodY" but i STILL cant listen (thus i'll be overweight in the future) ! i keep on eating after i'm soo full, or i dont eat until dinners ready so i can eat yummy dinner.

i'm sickkk of this.

p.s. sorry if i sound really SPAZZY when i type.... tis just the way i type. i may sound over reacting but..... just dont take it THATTT seriously. i just want answers >: [
hm.... and about calories, i dont want to start coundting again.... i just estimate and a whole bunch now, but it ry to eat that 2-3 meat a day, 6-9 whole grain, 3+ fruits(b/ci love fruit), and stuff......... w/e...
i just FEEL fat+ bloated, but my sscale went DOWn. so ANNOYING

Well, there may be two things then: either your body is catching up to your high intake or you are not eating as much as you think. I would try keeping track of your calories for a few days and seeing what you average. If you are still losing weight on something like 2500-3000, you'll need to increase. But, first, take a look at what you are eating.

I also agree that day to day fluctuation is inaccurate. You want to be weighing once a week, same time, same clothes, same situation (eg: after you pee) to see a true trend of gain/loss.

this is completely normal to happen when you want to gain weight after undereating for so long. when I started eating to gain I also ended up losing in return and not gaining....but eventualy with time weight will start increase. Thing is your metabolism has gone into hyperspeed...it happens, dunno why but it does..usualy when getting out of starvation mode, to gain weight, you need to eat like 4,000 calories to even maintain, anything below this and you might even lose..I know its crazy but Ive seen it happen...I think you should keep doing only strength exercises...no more aerobics, not even once a week...if you do only walking for a brief amount of time...tops 30 mins....strength will do you good for your muscles, and you will see a good kind of gain...muscle and fat, not only fat, and thats best.

keep your intake the same, and do strength training (3,000)

Im sure you will see progress soon enough ;)

Have you been checked for celiac disease? If you're allergic to gluten, then you might not be absorbing your food. Any GI problems, pain?

I'd wait a few more days and see if your weight goes up any.  If it doesn't then I would start adding more calories to your intake.  If your having trouble adding more calories there are plenty of calorie dense foods like: peanut butter, olive oil, full-fat ice cream, salted or unsalted nuts, pasta dishes (especially lasagna), you can experiment with all sorts of shakes (I'm sure theres lots of weight gain recipes online), eat "meal bars" as snacks, have a glass of milk with your meals, etc.

I don't think lifting weights is really a problem but I would add another rest day so that your body can recover from the hard work and so that you can hopefully see some progress.

Oh and are you preparing some meals/snacks infront of your dad? that might help him not get worried or what not. (just a thought)

wait so...

IFFF i do have a hyper matabolism, SHOULD i be eating even when i KNOW i ate over 3k calories? or eat witha normal lifestyel habit i should try to get used to?......

should i eat when i feel bloated but just "want" to eat something? like right now, my stomachs cramped and bloated, but i feel like eating a tuna sandwich. i know its gona make me sick in the morning (like today), but... should i try to satisfy myself?

hm... not eating as much as i think?........ mayyy be... OH i wish i had a mini dr. to tell me what to eat, when to eat and stuff by my side EVERY day so IIIII wont have to think/ worry about food. you know?

why cant i run just 3 miles in 1 week?......... its a fast mile, so it wont be a long time.....
should i just replace my abs workout day with a rest day?.... ihear the sto mach will just look bigger anyways when weight distributes (scarry)..

You have been answered over this so many times, but hey, if it's what it takes:

1) Yes, you have to eat more than 3k calories if you are hypermetabolic/in a state of hypermetabolism because your body is burning everything you give it and then some. You WILL be able to reduce it afterwards. In fact it is likely you will end up with quite a high maintainance level if you are consuming 3000~ and not gaining right now. I strongly dislike how you seem to believe that there will be no way for you whatsoever to manage a normal eating habit after recovery, that you will be huge afterwards despite repeated reassurance that WON'T happen to you.

2) Eat if you are hungry. Eat if you want to eat. Yes, in recovery, you will have to eat past fullness.

3) I still think you should count for a few days and see how much you are really taking in. You might be surprised. You never know.

4) Your stomach will only be larger at first. This is perfectly normal when recovering from an underweight state. Eventually it all distributes. I can reassure you of this because when I started recovery everything went to my abdominal (thighs, hips, stomach) area and now it has evened out and I am proportional again. As for running: someone could run 3 miles in half an hour burning 60 calories a mile and burn 180 calories total. Someone could then run 3 miles in twenty minutes, and burn at a higher rate. If you run you've got to be prepared to eat it back.

Are you seeing a doctor through all this? :\ Amdoc has a point about being tested for possible GI problems because you do talk about feeling/being sick a lot. Plus you sound like you need to be seeing one anyway.

wait..

(haha, sorry lala, you've been real supportive, patient, nice)

so.... you want me to count calories AND eat more than 3k cal @ same time??
how do you know i WILL be able to reduce later?...... someppl do become overweight after anorexia b/c of this.....

NEW QUESTION: i want to run. its a stress reliever :*(>... but as for WEIGHT LIFTING... how much should i lift? all i have is a 5 pounder, so i do like 3-4 sets of 15 reps of 4-8 exercizes... that okay?

i do see a dr. 1ce a month.... but we dont communicate well together :/

?????? :( sorry

my so called "friend" started telling ppl behind my back that i have an ED/anorexia and she told me,"your so skinny i'm jealouse" and now all the guys/ppl poke fun at me.

and i failed my science test, math project.. uggg just not a good start of the week

I had an eating disorder for 3 years and i also took drugs.  I am now getting over it and have started eating normal food again.  For three years i ate the same food, same amount everyday.  Now that i have changed what i'm eating and am eating protein in normal amounts, i feel i'm developing hypermetabolism.

Has anyone else had any experiences with this?

Tabrizi: You would not be developing "hypermetabolism" as it were. It is more a case of bringing your metabolism to a normal speed after a long period of restriction. There are various tests out that that have been performed that detail that a restricting anorexic will likely require more calories than normal or than is expected to gain weight.

Hypermetabolism should not be confused with hyperthyroidism. Hypermetabolism is a symptom of hyperthyroidism but is very different.
