Noticible Differences

Quote  |  Reply

I started my weight loss journey about 2 months ago, and so far, the progress has been slow, but steady. Earlier last week, I noticed that my clothing started to feel a little looser, and then yesterday, I actually made it through the day by a deficit of 100 calories. Both of these are noticible differences that tell me I'm on the right track!

What are yours?

Good job!

I've noticed that my clothes fit better, and I've actually bought a size smaller in jeans. Also, I have these boots that didn't really fit around my calves too well last year, but they do now! :)

That's too funny about the boots! I can never find boots that fit right in the calves. The last time I went shopping the clerk said to watch for the "wide calved" boots. Hell no! I won't buy them til they fit right!

Congrats and continue to enjoy the new changes.

I'm now using a tighter belt hole on a belt I almost threw away cuz I was getting too big.

I look better in my LARGE shirts which I almost replaced for XL earlier in the summer.

My legs got thinner which kept me laughing all morning when I discovered it.  I don't know why.  Happiness I guess.

I got my first "you lost weight" comment a week ago.  It was totally unprovoked and out of the blue.  She's my favorite cousin now.  LOL!

I lost 10 pound October and I didn't know it would make such a difference Laughing

Last year when I got on the right track (which I fell off of a few months later, but we're back on now) I noticed the dimished little pooch in the front. Bottom of my butt was way smoother, and back and inside of thighs completely smooth and a couple inches thinner.  I was wearing mini skirts again and felt fantastic. I also didn't have to adjust my skirts or low rise jeans.

I think the best thing is the way shirts hang right. It goes from the middle of the shirt to my jeans, with out any speed bumps on the way stretching the cloth where it shouldn't be.Tongue out

I've noticed the same change... when i look in the mirror i don't really see a change but my clothes fit a lot better. it's such a good feeling :)

Penkwin - i know the feeling.. up until this winter i couldn't get my calves into boots (so upsetting when im such a shoe person)  i rewarded myself with 2 lovely pairs of boots as soon as i could fit into them :)

I am a teacher. On the last day of school in June I could barely squeeze into my size 16 pants. That did it! The next morning I set a goal,  I started walking, and have not stopped. I have used a variety of methods to exercise including walking, running, aquasize and aerobics. I have to have variety!  Since then I have lost 38 lbs. I have removed ALL my old clothes from my closet.. had to borrow from a friend along the way, and I can now go into any store and buy a size 10 off the rack.  I still have 20 lbs to go and I have given myself the winter to get there.  And yes.. I can now zip my high boots!!!

I've received those "you've lost weight" remarks from friends and coworkers, which are great, but for me the greatest reward has been the attention I'm suddenly receiving from girls - something I've never experienced before... suddenly I'm getting asked out on dates.. :) - gotta keep working it!

What helps me are those compliments.  I started 7/28/09 and have lost 30 lbs thus far.  I didn't start receiving compliments until just recently and I love 'em LOL.  I started off at 220 and now I'm 190.  As a matter of fact, this morning my boss said "Hey skinny minnie".  Laughing

I am loving the boot comments!!! It gives me hope.  I have a pair of black high heeled boots I LOVE, but I have to use a hanger to zip them up and even then they are so tight they leave marks all over my legs and feet.  I can wait untill they fit right. maybe another 20 -25 lbs....

I am proud of all of you who have commented above, and just want you to remember something when you finally reach your goals.  Get rid of all your "fat" clothes and keep track of your weight every day.  This way you won't let anything get ahead of you and fall back into your old patterns.  As a wise friend once told me, "nothing tastes as good as thin feels".  I have had to work at my weight all my life, but never change from my size 6 (okay, sometimes they get a little tight).  Exercise and eat right and you will be rewarded.

I totally agree!!!!! clean out the closet... KEEP NOTHING that does not flatter and fit properly... I have had to rely on a good second hand shop to replace my entire wardrobe... don't spent too much until you have reached your goal weight.

I has a great time shopping this weekend. It felt so nice to go from a size 14-16 to a size 12-10. The selection was much better and the clothes fit a lot nicer, but I still have more work to do. Another 10 pounds and then some serious muscle building.

Excellent!

I have only recently got back on the band wagon- so to speak.

But all these stories are really helping me - keeping me motivated!

Well done ladies!!!!

I'm enjoying wearing belts again!

I'd got used to wearing my trousers without belts for a couple of years now. Then in the last few weeks my trousers are sliding down my hips. I had to go and dig my belt collection out of the bottom of the wardrobe.

Nice feeling.

I can't actually see a difference but I've noticed my clothes definitely fit better. Especially bras! Most of the weight gone was around my upper body and waist so I'm hoping my hips and thighs catch up soon...

Most people don't really comment on the weight loss though, it's more like oh you look great, you seem much happier/confident etc. I guess I didn't realize how carrying around 40 extra lbs can turn a person into such a sour puss :)

But yeah, I did the same thing and cleaned out my closet. It's almost therapeutic to say goodbye to your 'fat' clothes instead of hanging on to 'em just in case the weight creeps back. Out of sight, out of mind! (I did keep my largest sized pants though, just for comparison for when all the weight is finally gone)

This is wonderful! It's great to see how rewarding all the hard work is!!! I can't wait until I can finally start noticing a difference!!

good for you!  i just really started today...i'm hoping to have the same testimony in 2 months!  Wink

Deb

It's good to hear that most people don't start seeing those kinds of differences for a month or two.  I started about two weeks ago and I was hoping for the quick and easy miracle... but I know that it doesn't work that way.

Even though I only started calorie counting a couple weeks ago, I've been working out for a month or two now, and I think I might be starting to notice a difference in my arms!  Yesterday my trainer stopped me and told me to extend my left arm.  "Look you're getting some muscle definition!"  YEAH!  I absolutely love that when I flex my biceps, there's less and less jiggle!

As much as I want my arms to be toned because it looks better, I'm also really excited about getting stronger.  I used to be really strong, but then I didn't work out for 3 months or so, and I realized how weak I was when I moved into my new apartment and had trouble lifting all my furniture!  That was a wake-up call.  There are very practical reasons to want to be strong!

Bee!!

I just read your stats and we are so close to each other! Only I'm 5'4" :)) The highest I have gotten was 148 and that's when I realized I needed to do something!

I want to hear more about your job!! I want an awesome job :)) I work at a window coverings company and have been here since I was 16! I think it's about time that I moved on to bigger and better things :)
