NROLFW survey - everyone join in!!

Quote  |  Reply

I love the NROLFW program... but just for fun..........

  1. What is your most hated exercise in the book?  Why?
  2. What is your favorite exercise in the book?  Why?
  3. What stage are you on?  (in case you haven't gotten to some of the dreaded ones)

Choose only ONE answer to each!

Mine are:

  1. BW Matrix - it is evil - it makes me huff and puff and makes me feel weak!!!
  2. Deadlifts - they make me feel super strong!!
  3. Stage 5

Okay, I started Stage 3 last night and did the dreaded body weight matrix.  While I basically collapsed out of it both times (though I technically hit the last squat jump on the second set, it wasn't much of a squat jump), I still hate the prone jackknife more.

Susiecue - too funny! Congrats on finishing one of the sets of the Matrix!  Great going!

oops i almost accidentally marked this post as spam Embarassed. thankfully cc asks for a confirmation.

i change my mind on the lunges. just did workout a stage 2, & those type of lunges are ok for some reason.

I agree with you octo-luv! I don't mind the elevated foot lunges as much as the other ones. It seems like they would be harder but, for some reason they're more fun!

1. Pullover - (I work out at home)  I hate it because my left arm is weaker than the right and it sometimes gives out when I have the weights in the down position level w/my body and it hurts!

2. Squats - Make me feel strong when I can go all the way down w/lots of weight.

3. Stage 1 - about halfway through

With so many new folks, and so many others having moved into new stages, I thought it was to revive Yogagirl's survey!

Having finished (mostly, wink), I have to say that I HATE the body weight matrix because I never conquered it the way I wanted to, and I LOVE the deadlift because it makes feel like a super-toughie!

I'll help revive!

Here are my new responses:

What is your most hated exercise in the book?

I hate lunges. Any kind of lunge- I hate.

What is your favorite exercise in the book?

I like one point rows, squats, starting to like pushups a bit more.....

What stage are you on?

Stage 2. Close to finishing (one A & 2Bs left)

I hated the back raises.  Not sure what they were called, but you had to use the back aparatus.  I never could figure that thing out and I never did work my back enough.

I love squats and dynamic lunges with the barbell.

I am doing Fat Loss II in NROL.  When I am finished (4 workouts to go) I will either go back and do stage 6 in NROLFW, which I skipped, or go to Strength I in NROL.

I hate pushups - until I can do more than 10 I will hate them.

I love deadlifts - they make my whole body tense so I feel like I'm maximizing that one move.

I am in Stage 1.....so I'm sure I'll have new things to hate soon

Hey Lizzie - you will get those pushups soon!  My sister is doing nrolfw and she is finished with the 10 rep workouts and has only the 8 rep ones to go... she hates the pushups too.

I have her doing them on the stairs and she is now on the 1st step of the stairs.  Keep pushing your limit!

Bumping this up again now that a lot of new folks are starting and us old ones are finishing up

My most hated exercise -- well there are just so many to choose from but I'm going with the prone Jacknife -- I looked ridiculous and I'm sure folks were laughing at my fat arse up in the air

Favorite - I too like the one legged pointed row.  Even though my balance sucked, I still loved the burn in my bum.

I will be finishing the book in 2 more workouts -- then its off to NROL fat loss I

I really hate the dumbbell press.  I can't handle much weight because of an old injury and it's really frustrating.  I can't seem to get past 12 pounds (total of 24lbs).  I've tried 15 lbs, but can only do 2 or 3 of them.

I think my favorite is the squat and seated row.  Both make me feel really strong afterwards.

I'm just a little over half way in Stage 1.

I really hate planks and prone cobras. Mostly because they are so boring, lying there, waiting for the stopwatch to pass 90 seconds, and now, 120 seconds. I can't do a plank for even close to that long. The longest I made was 60 seconds, and I was gritting my teeth to make it that long. On average, I can go about 45 seconds before I call it quits. Even if I could go longer, I just get so bored.

I really like any exercise involving my arms. I love the shoulder press, bent-over rows, 1-point rows. I can really increase weights on these and I feel like I'm accomplishing something.

I just started stage 4 this week.

  • What is your favorite exercise in the book?  Why?
  • What stage are you on?  (in case you haven't gotten to some of the dreaded ones)
  • I'm going to answer these backwards, therefore you know what stage(s) I'm basing my choices on.

Stage: 1, 9 workouts left (I should be done next week, but I slacked for a week and then had to repeat A and B workout 6.)

Favorite exercise: Seated row and lat-pulldown because I feel like such a beast when I do these, with a bunch of plates stacked on there. (I like to imagine all the biddies relaxing before their dance class are thinking, wow, she's strong.)

Most hated exercise: Always lunges, but lately the deadlift. It's been hurting my lower back. I need to really assess my form and make sure I got it right - and then maybe work on strengthening my lower back muscles.

I started the program again from the beginning at the end of summer after slacking off on it for several months.  I started slacking off in stage 2 before the summer, but now I'm in stage 3 and it's great.

    1. Most hated exercise: pushups.  I am so pathetic at them.  I only just got to the point where I can do 10 regular pushups, and it's torture.

    2. Favorite exercise: squats and body weight matrix.  Squats feel easy and productive at the same time, and the body weight matrix absolutely kills me but feels like a major accomplishment.  Maybe I should apply this attitude to pushups...

    3. I am on stage 3.
