Numbness in my foot
Was wondering if anyone else experience a numbing or tingling in their feet when jogging/running on the treadmill?
Sometimes I want to give it my all, but then I get this numbing sensation. Is it that I need to stretch more?
I have the same issues but it is more in my toes and I am wondering if it is my shoes? I am not sure but I have tried different shoes and sometimes I have it and sometimes I don't. It is very strange.
This used to happen to me when I started running. I was tying my shoelaces too tight. As you run, your foot swells and the tight shoelaces cut off some circulation = numb feet. Just make sure your shoe is actually properly sized for your foot, and that your laces are tied properly ... I think that might take care of the problem!
Thanks for your reply. I will try this.
My left foot starts to go number a little after 3 miles. I rarely run farther than that so it's not a big issue for me... Someone suggested the shoelace thing to me too, as well as purchasing some orthotics. Sometimes it may just be a bad shoe for yo. Runnersworld.com has a lot about tying shoelaces different ways for different results, just use the search feature at the top of the page.
Same thing happens to me - I thought I must be dying! ![]()
Turns out - it's the shoes. I hear it happens most often to people on an elliptical because they move their feet so little while working out. A suggestion I've seen is to run barefoot... but that seems dangerous (not to mention, gross) on a treadmill, right?

You're questioning your question lol. FWIW, I wear socks on the treadmill. It gets HOT. That, and I'm not ready to argue about it with gym staff, since I do not own a treadmill.
ETA: I think people do a lot more gross things with their hands and more people injure their hands than feet.
Yes! This used to happen to me and it was because my shoes were too too small--I always tied them loosely. They didn't feel small walking around and were the same size as all my other footware. I used to think I prefered snug-fitting shoes for comfort and the numbness was just how my body worked.
Then someone convinced me to go up 1/2 size in my shoes. Voila! No more numb feet!
Before buying a brand new pair of shoes you could also try thinner socks and, as others suggested, loosening your shoelaces.
