Hi I am KAT -- I have been around for a while but took a vacay from CC to give birth to a beautiful baby boy. So now here i am trying to get to my goal weight -- the good news is that i didn't gain a ton during my pregnancy -- 30 pounds -- I have 11 left to lose to get to my pre-pregnancy weight and then another 9 to my goal -- oh i was so close to my goal when i got pregnant. Owen is almost 7 weeks old.

So I would like to chat with some others with little ones trying to lose the weight

 Hi, Kat.

Congratulations on your bundle of joy! My baby girl just turned one year old. I started working out the second the doctor okayed it. Um. I gained far more weight than you during pregnancy though. I went from 113lbs prebaby to 186lbs in the last couple months and I'm only 5'2. ( The doctor said it was due to water weight, but they can't give you anything for it. Since it could cause birth complications. ) Everyone told me that the extra weight would just melt off, because I'm young. ( 23 ) But, I actually had to ' work ' it off. It wasn't ' melting ' off as quickly as I wanted. I suggest taebo full body workouts, and walking until you break a good sweat. ( You can take baby along on your walks, in his stroller.) I've always had my baby lay/play/or nap  in her play pen while I do my workouts. She gets really excited about it now. I'll say " Wanna work out with Mommy?! " and she'll giggle and clap. She finds it entertaining to watch me, and tries to make the same motions as I do. =-P It's adorable. So remember that you can include baby, in your goal of being healthy. I'm currently maintaining 105lbs, the healthiest I've ever been.  Good Luck,  Remember it's doable.
thanks -- i am at a lower weight than my hgiest before i had baby so i know that i can do it and have gotten a few DVDs . i used to be a relious gym adict but i cancelled my membership after i got pregnant because they raised the dues too much and they don't have nursery hours when i used to go anyway. I am starting back in my softball league next week but haven't gotten reall active yet.
hi Kat- Congrats. I have a seven month old. I am 40, and 5'3". I gained 46 lbs when I was pregnant and was really scared it wouldn't come off. Well, 43 of it came off with no effort by month 3. I did breast feed -but really didn't do much exercise. I am trying to get another 10 off now since I was a bit heavy (127) before getting pregnant. I really have to work hard on that but it is starting to come off. I think your body will lose it pretty naturally if you don't eat like a nut and exercise reasonably. Good luck trish
Hey there,

Congrats x1 million on the birth of your healthy, beautiful boy! I am not pregnant or a mother, nor am I anticipating to be one any time soon, but am a nurse, turned post grad student.

I'm not certain if this helps, but it can be reassuring to know that normal weigt gain with preganacy is 11-15kg: averaging 12.5kg. The amount of fat gained is highly variable from woman to woman (-2 to +10kg in normal weight women) and necessary. Fat stores were used for energy reserves for the later stages of your pregnancy and are now in use with your lactation...so with avoiding overeating (which I don't think you'll have a problem with, considering you've stayed so well during your pregnacy), eating well and engaging in regular exercise, I suspect that your weight will come off easily. Note: the conversion of kg to ibs may be achievedy multiplying by 2.2.

Good Luck...hopefully, applying my knowledge on my life (as I have been doing for the past 2months now to lose weight, whilst not seeing any results) will pay off one day. Cheers...
Hi Kat!

My son just turned 5 months old. I did not gain a ton of weight when I pregnant(about 28 pds) but I started out overweight so I have a LONG way to go. I have been doing CC for about 2 months now and have lost 16 pds. I am nursing but I also have to give my son formula because he has Acid Reflux and the breastmilk alone is just to thin so he gets sever belly pain, but I am still nursing as much as I can.

congats, i just had my little girl 11 weeks ago. i gained 60 pounds and was up to 190. i'm only 5'3. 40 came so far but now i'm stuck. i've been going to the gym since she was 6 weeks. and been watching what i'm eating. i really would like any suggestions if people have them. thank you
Are you breastfeeding? If so, you need to keep your calories up! On the good side though, nursing has your body b urning extra calories, and it also stimulates the utern muscles to contract, thus assisting your body to get back to it's "normal" state!
Just so you know, for some women, their bodies hold onto a few pounds while breastfeeding. (up to 10 pounds)  Some is from heavier breasts, but your body may hold some fat in reserve.  Noone told me this until I had my daughter, and then all my girlfriends were telling me this.  So get as close to your goal weight as you can, but don't stress too much about it.  You will get there!!!
Hello! I am currently nursing my 11 month old son. It is true what you say, hlraphael, my body has held on to its weight while breastfeeding! It wasn't until he started to nurse less that the weight started to come off. I didn't gain much with him, only 25 pounds, but after I had him I gained another 5!! I ended up being about 165 at my highest weight in February '07. I am now at 143. I strap both my kids in a double stroller and walk them around. I try to walk as much as I can. It has helped so much! Plus, it's something I can easily do with the kids in tow. He should be done nursing soon, but I don't know if I want to stop completely yet. With my first, I started weaning him at 12 months. That is only one month away for #2!! :(
