Nut Allergies

Quote  |  Reply

I have a nut allergy and I was wondering if anyone knows of a good substitution for nuts in different recipes? Or a good substitution for a snack?

I dont know if they would be similar risks but am thinking possibly sunflower or pumpkin seeds.

There is also a soybean butter (made from roasted soybeans) which claims to be okay for people with nut allergies.  I dont have any personal experience with it but you can find it online.

Hev it tested first, but I'm alergic to nuts... and I have found that many people with nut alergies can eat almonds, including myself...

Almond butter is delicious, as well as almonds themselves.

Have it checked out!

dried fruit makes a good snack alternative also a nut free granola bar or dry cereal (cheerios) in a ziplock bag instead of trail mix!

for recipes I use sunflower seeds instead of nuts, it gives things like muffins a nice nut texture and a similar taste! for pie bases (to soak up liquid) i use unseasoned bread crumbs instead of ground almonds or hazelnuts.
