Why those nutritional labels can save the day
I haven't had any sweets in 2 weeks. The only sugars I am getting is in my fruits.
My brother was munching on a little Debbie brownie, and I thought, I've been good, they're not that big, so why not.
I take one out of the box and start to walk off. I go back to the box and look at the nutritional info-300 calories for something the size of a bar of soap! 300!
I put it back and my craving was instantly over. It just wasn't worth it.
It happens to me every now and then and you feel awesome hahaha
Anyway, my family is already cringing when I start reading labels hahaha I think I traumatized them hahahah (and now they it just a tiny bit healthier :D)
Haha. When I reach for the package to check the label my in-laws always say "you don't want to look at that!"
On the contrary, oh yes I do!! Blindly eating a 550 calorie piece of pie or 250 calorie cookie is really not my thing anymore. ;)
It was my proudest day when my son when shopping with me. I dont recall what food he was looking at but he read the nutritional label and said - "wow, thats gross" lol
Since he is only 11 and overweight I was really thrilled.
That happens to me all the time. Something I "think" is innocent, I'll recheck and come to find out it's not so.
I absolutely LOVEEEE those hostess chocolate glazed pie things, omg I used to eat those all the time. After recently seeing one in the store I checked the nutritional info on it and my eyes shot open wide. I'm like, "I used to eat that and not care??"
But oh.. how I wish I could do that again. (The not caring part. lol)

Reading a label is a definite trigger to get strange looks and questions from everyone around you! (diet-mongers~)
I ALMOST didn't read the label on a cookie my friend gave me *Mrs Fields* and was about to eat it when I decided that I could probably casually flip the packing over while they were distracted and glance at the calories at least.
300.
THREE HUNDRED PER COOKIE.
And I just munched on 1/2 of the cookie slowly while I watched 2 friends casually eat 600 calories -after a dinner of alfredo pasta-
I'm obsessed with those labels now! Especially since I need to be finding other sources of protien in my diet.
My roommate bought a piece of cake at Von's (Safeway) today and usually I used to be the one that would buy such high sugar things! and the funny thing is that it didn't phase me when she ate it in front of me...all I kept on thinking was 'thats not going to get into MY body' lol.
I'm trying to help her eat healthier, but to each their own I guess. At least I tried. ![]()
Dude... I HATE those giant cookies that are nice and big and you look at the package and it says 240 calories. You think, not too bad! Then you double check, and it's for HALF a cookie. Who eats just HALF a cookie??
(aside from tealparadise lmao
)
I agree. I'm not satisfied with what I eat unless I know exactly what's in it and what it's going to do for my body.

I wouldn't normally! But I couldn't bear to waste 300 calories, and also couldn't reject the cookie after accepting it from my friend 10 seconds ago!
Lmao, it is pretty weird though
