Nutritionist visit (suggested cals 1800-2000) Freaking out please help
Hi I am 5 10 about 130. and a few months ago was dignosed with orthostatic hypotension. My BP was in the 70/35 range. They thought it may be due to my MS but after seeing my neuro he said I was too thin and lost to much weight and wanted me to see a nutritionist. I went today and she said that I could maintain on 1800-2000 a day due to height and not to excercise more than an hour preferably walking or bike riding. Does this sound high? I was freaking out about how on this site is says I only burn about 1600 without excercise and walking would burn only about 150 more. She said this site was wrong. HELP I am looking to maintain. I am 36.
As a very lightly active 44 year-old woman, 5'6 and 150lbs I can maintain my weight on 1800-2000 cals a day. So no, it's not too high.
I am 5' 10" as well, I am trying to lose 10 pounds to get to 150. I am active, exercise 2 hours a day or so, and I lose weight eating 1800-2000.
Um. at 130 and 5'10" you are underweight.
Have you considered the possibility you are showing signs of an eating disorder? You seem to be afraid of gaining weight, despite being underweight which is a key component.
I would follow what the nutritionist recommends - for health reasons. Forget about the weight and eat to fuel your body, whatever that requires. You might want to consider not counting calories (its obsessive) and looking into using the exchange system to keep track of what you are eating/need to eat.
Jenny, are you sure?
Using CC's 'burn meter' and inputing your data (age, height, weight), it says you burn 2100 calories a day, assuming you do moderate exercise. So minimum 2000 calories is right for maintenance.
Thanks maybe I am doing something wrong. i just know on my homepage it says 1610 burned per day. I also used tools to get up to 137 under caloric intake and it told me to eat 1200 a day to gain 7 lbs!! What is up with that?
