Ive been trying to eat more nuts, because they are supposed to help you feel full longer, tasty and just o so good for you.  The only problem is they are so high in calories.  A handful can be at least 200.

Any suggestion, How many do you usually eat a day?

I usually keep it to 1 oz per day (~20 nuts).

I aim for 1-1.5 oz per day.  They really do keep me full!

Normally, 35g to 50g.

But I admit, I hit 120g once or twice before...^_^'

I eat about an 1 oz. a day of nuts or seeds. Usually I stick to wal-nuts or pumkin seeds for the omega-3s. Eating a small handful of nuts everyday is heart healthy or so I've read. Despite being high in fat, nuts, seeds, and avacados are all preferable to oils, which are all fat without the added nutrients.

pfft. I try to do that one ounce thing, but I most of the time I have around 4 ounces. And if I don't have my almonds or peanuts (my favorites), I have peanut butter or almond butter! And nuts really don't make me gain weight. Because of the protien + monounsaturated fat, my stomach stays slim (instead of bloated) after I eat them. But really, nuts and legumes, fruits, vegetables, bread and soy products are basically all I eat. So nuts give me almost all of my needed dietary fat for the day.

It's really hard to snack on nuts and not overdo it.  But, you should try to keep it down to a small handful per day.  It might be easier to add nuts to smoothies (if you drink them).  You would get all the benefits, but it's much easier to control the portion without adding temptation.

Raw and unsalted nuts (or seeds) are better for you than roasted/salted, but they don't taste quite as good when it comes to snacking.  Raw/Unsalted nuts might be easier to resist if you're like me and tend to eat 5-10 handfuls at a sitting.  =]

You might also try avocado, either in a smoothie or as a side.
