Going Nuts and Need HELP

Quote  |  Reply

Hey everyone-

My name is Jess and I'm a newbie. I've just completed 2 weeks on Nutrasystem- and GAINED 5 pounds. I followed their 1250 calorie diet, cheated for one or two meals (though not really, had a veggie burger with half the bun) and gained weight faster than I have ever done.

I work out 4 days a week taking dance classes (high impact- Zumba, Salsa, Bollywood etc) and am a vegetarian. When I started the diet I was at 128, hoping to get back down to 123. Now I'm at 133 and have no idea what to do!

I know it's physically impossible to gain 5 pounds of fat in 2 weeks on that caloric level, but I drink at least 64 oz of water a day, and haven't really gained any muscle that I can tell.

I want to be back down at 123. It took a divorce and daily anxiety attacks to  get me down there the first time from 150. Please help, please help, please help. I want the scale to go down.

Do not know how true this is but I have read that Nutrasystem's food is full of sodium so my guess its water retention. Yes water retention can be 5 pounds and even more. Give it a couple days drink lots more water and see if you see a improvment.

Although I know it's difficult, DON'T WORRY! I did Jenny Craig a couple of years ago and the first 2 weigh ins I gained. Don't let it get you down or make you quit. Just keep following the plans, double up on the water, and make sure you're weighing in at the exact same time and situation each week. The best and most accurate time/situation is to weigh in the morning after you do #1 & #2 and before you eat or drink. Do it the same way every week. Don't weigh too often either. Be strong. Bottom line is this: if you burn more calories then you eat you will lose weight. Look at the goal and not each weigh in. You'll have weeks of gain and weeks of big losses. Hang in there.

I agree with the above.  If you were

dehydrated (-1)

on low sodium intake (-2)

had no food in your system (-2)

and this week were hydrated, high sodium, and weighing with food or without going 1/2, there's an easy 5lbs.
