they are said to be a good source of protein and of good fats, but I believe that they may have some carbs too. but mainly protein and fat.
Hi Shand -
Nuts have a lot of good things in them - and yep, a lot of calories. It's a great thing to snack on if you need more calories and you're not too hungry. They'll give you protein and healthy fats, but watch out for that salt! (In my case, I can't eat just a few - so I have to be very careful - but I like soynuts, too.)

Mm, I love soynuts!
But I can't seem to find any at our local grocery store. Where do you usually get yours?

Hey Sarah,
Believe it or not - I actually found them at Wal-Mart - in with the produce...
Normally, I prefer to go to our natural foods store for stuff like those.

Nuts such as almonds, macademia, walnuts, and cashews are really good sources of protein and essential fats. Just don't consume more than a small handful a day (20 or so nuts). Look for low-sodium or lightly salted nuts...or mix it up with dried cranberries...yum!
I love cashews and have to be very careful when they are anywhere near me or I will eat them all. Unfortunately I'm allergic to most nuts (walnuts, pecans and the like) so I can't eat those trail mixes or the party nut mixes. But the good thing about it is it keeps me from eating brownies too because my mom puts walnuts in them. lol I probably wouldn't make a very good vegetarian for that reason.
Anyway, I'd caution anyone trying a new kind of nut to be careful because you might experience a food allergy (even if you've not been allergic to other nuts you've eaten). I can eat peanuts just fine but Brazil nuts will make my throat swell.
