My nuts are turning purple/grey

I make what I think is killer fruit salad with apples, oranges, pineapple, grapes and walnuts.  But after a day or two the nuts take on a purplish/grey hue around the edges.  Does anyone know why?

to keep your nuts attractive, add them to each portion, right before you eat it

I think the change of color is due to the same reason bananas turn brown in this sort of salad.  Just a chemical reaction I guess.

And to any men I'd say quit wearing tight pants LOL

so, rinseing them in lemon juice won't prevent this?

seems grams rinsed things in lemon juice, like to keep apples from turning brown.  maybe I'm not remembering right...  i was just a kidlet then...

I keep it in the pineapple juice and I think that is what is keeping the apples from turning.  Its only the walnuts that get funny.

The lemon trick is for stuff that oxidizes, like apples and potatoes.

For nuts, it is acid that is causing the trouble, so leaving them out until the last minute is the trick (also keeps em crunchier).

yes! still use your lemon juice or lime juice or what have you for your apples and avocados
