For anyone with diabetes, This article in today's Times is really interesting.
It's about preventing the damage of diabetes by controling things like cholesterol and high blood pressure, not just blood sugar. It's interesting!

Thank you Clairlaine......Although there were many things that I didn't want to hear in this article, it was very informative. I'll be calling my father today to ask about his 'heart meds', as he often refers to them. Thanks again for posting another good one.
really thought provoking! so much diabetes care management focuses on diet and exercise and tight blood glucose control but does not even emphasize the other care needed to avoid the horrible complications that Diabetics are so much more at risk of developing! (as in Metabolic X syndrome... heart attacks, strokes, diabetic retinopathy, kidney disease and failure, nerve damage, reduced immune system.... very scary stuff!)
It's encouraging to know that there are things we can do to delay, reduce, minimize our risks!
