Nylon cruelty

Who else thinks nylons are a device of the devil??!  They are SO uncomfortable.  I feel like I'm being eaten by a boa constricter.  It bums me out that women are forced to wear nylons at work.  It would be one thing if they were comfortable/ignorable, like a nametag or something. 

Do you wear nylons at work?  How do you get around it?

I have to wear nylons at my work.  I don't wear pants for the same reasons I hate nylons: they dig into my stomach, they fall down, they itch my legs, they are uncomfortable.  For a while I was doing thigh-highs, and it was a Godsend.  I have no idea why, but they suddenly started giving me blisters where the elastic was (allergic now?).  So now I HAVE to wear the full nylons.  I need to get a garter belt and just go that route, but it is hard to find the stockings that go with it, and they are more expensive.  I rip my nylons all the time too.

WHY with the nylons?  There has got to be a better way!

I sometimes wear nylons or thigh highs to work.  Hospital floors are a bitch and while it's minimal, the compression relieves some of the cramping in my legs.  Admittedly, nylons are annoying and thigh highs are my preference.  I have the kind with and without the silicon around the band.  I found them at Meijer, along with the garter belt.

I tell any/all bosses I have had that I am allergic to nylon and can only wear cotton and what would they like me to do about leg covering? it's never been a problem they either give me trousers or if I have to have a skirt fake tan on the legs and keep them well moisturised so they look good.

I don't envy you I couldn't/wouldn't have them near me, itchy, sweaty uncomfortable things!

I have some thigh high, sexy lace ones I wear for the husband once in a while, but they never stay on long enough to make me unconfortable.

Really?  They can force you to wear nylons at work?!  What's the purpose of that?

i havent worn them for years and i wear dresses all the time

could be an austin thing...lots of ppl rock the bohemian down here and its just too freakn hot to wear them between may and october anyways

1st, half of them are ruined before I even wear them once. ugh. Ripping as i put them on, how lame.

2nd, YES THEY ALL CUT ME OFF AT THE WAIST! so you know what I did?

I cut the MFers. slice the waist. SO much more comfortable and less rolls for the dress.

I don't wear them, occasionally I will wear tights in the winter, but I turned a job down once because they told me I had to wear a skirt w/ pantyhose every day.  Pants were not allowed for women. 

I told them it wasn't 1950 and I didn't need the job that bad.  (course I was 19 at the time-night not be such a snot ten years later)

Well, it is part of our dress code at work.  It says that all areas of exposed skin on legs need to be covered at all times.  Men and women absolutely have to wear socks/stockings/nylons.  I guess I could be a rebel and break the rules...... I wonder how long before I got in trouble.  My legs are ghostly white and VEINY, so it's pretty obvious if I don't wear them.

God, yes, they DO cut you off at the waist.  They are SO TIGHT, and I buy the biggest ones.  When I take them off, I have this huge angry red mark.  Didn't they tear when you cut them at the waist?  I don't understand why the top has to be so damn tight.  Why can't they make it like uh.. yoga pants or something.  Those stay up just fine...if they made the legs of the nylons longer, it would work great.

 i'm paley mcpale and no one has ever noticed that i don't wear them. 

maybe try one of those gradual self tanning lotions?

i've always wondered...if someone did notice, how would they approach it?  what if you were wearing really sheer nylons?

 Nope, they had the control top and they never ran past the cut. :) I'd have the angry snake line up the belly from the seam, and then the big ugly red belly band. I don't take too kindly to abuse from my clothing. *I* get to do the abusing!! muahahaha

so.. stop wearing them. when you're approached, insist you ARE wearing them. make them pinch them on your leg. Then keep saying, they're really sheer, you have to REALLY try to pull them. Let them try for a few minutes and say really loudly STOP! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?

then sue them for sexual harrassment.

I used to work in an office that required nylons. I discovered that they were much more comfortable if I bought them a size bigger. If you're being squeezed then you've purchased a size too small. Each manufacturer creates their own sizing and just because your height & weight are within the range on the packet doesn't mean they'll fit well on you. Try different brands and sizes.

Just My Size has quite a variety of larger nylons. There's a mail order service that will send you so many pairs per month. I found them to be comfortable and they lasted longer than some brands. Silkies is the brand I think.

News flash ... NOBODY looks good without nylons unless you are just hanging out. Bare legs is simply unprofessional. It looks terrible. I was in a meeting just yesterday with 2 ladys not wearing nylons and I thought it was very unprofessional. I don't want to see your skin. I don't want to see the hairy stubble on your legs. Even worse no nylons leads to wearing sandals at work and I definitely don't want to see your disgusting little toes no matter how pretty they are painted. Ugh. If you don't want to wear nylons, wear pants. Period.

not everyone who doesn't wear nylons forgets to shave and wear sandals.  i wear heels and shave every morning i wear a skirt.

yeah all the men in the office cant even look me in the face anymore i guess it must be the toes

i even recently converted my 60yo coworker who is really self conscious about her varicose veins, she hasnt worn them for weeks :)
