Hi there are soooooo many posts about oats, steel cut oats, oatmeal, soakin in milk, leaving dry, soakin in water etc etc.  im just confused? Im from the UK are these just your bog standard rolled oats? like porridge oats?

im askin becuase some of the recipes sound lovely and it seems quite a versatile and relatively quick and low kcal thing to know how to cook and have in the cupboard.

Anyone help??

lol

thanks xx

Same stuff...In NA its usually Quaker Oats....In Europe...there were a lot of diff ones. In the end, they are same essentially.

Oatmeal = Porridge.

Steel Cut oats are not processed as much.  They look like tiny brown chunks.  They are not flakes.

Steel Cut -- haven't tried yet, but they require more substantial cooking.

Regular rolled oats (thick flakes) -- 5 minutes stovetop

Quick cooking oats (thin flakes) -- 1 minute stovetop

Instant (super thin pieces) -- just add hot water and stir

When we where in Scotland, the porridge oats we bought looked like either regular or quick cooking.
