Oatmeal tastes BETTER than Krispy Cream donuts

Quote  |  Reply

At least that is what I am telling myself right now. Over and Over.  I HATE these people who just plop a dozen Krispy Cream Donuts on the counter in the kitchen here at work!  Fat Pushers, that's what I call them... Foot in mouth

Well, I am here to report that I stood there next to that dang box of sugary fat while my Oatmeal Heated in the Micro for 60 seconds and I DID NOT EAT A DONUT.  This is HUGE for me... normally I would have had two.  But I did it!

WOO HOO for me!

Trish

That's awesome!

It's great that you realized how crappy you'd feel after the donut, and how un-crappy you feel after a bowl of oatmeal!

Way to go!

Excellent!! And think also, if you'd eaten a doughnut, you'd have been back in there an hour later wanting another one or four!  The oatmeal certainly is going to give you more "bang for your buck" (or for your calorie) than the doughnut!

At my former place of work (and now, close to the holidays, I'm so grateful I'm not there anymore) there was the sweetest lady (a little teeny woman) who would always keep the bowl of candy on her desk.  And I mean good stuff, too ... little candy bars and such.  More than once I have told her she was evil and must be destroyed!!!  Wink

Congratulations on a stunning display of willpower!

Thank you very much! I do feel I deserve some reward for my excellent willpower!

We have a "candy lady" here too.  It is our receptionist.  Chocolates, no less.  On Monday they are having a Halloween Party for the kids here and everyone is bringing candy for "trick or treating" through the cubicles.  I made my son a dentist appt so I am leaving work to take him.  So I will not be here.  Ya gotta do whatcha gotta do.

And Stella, you are so right.  One donut always does lead to another and another.  I will admit to eating 4 KC Donuts in a single sitting and still feeling hungry.  TOTALLY CRAZY!

AWESOME JOB!!! They bring in office treats here too at least once a week.. it's tough, way to avoid it!!! :) and yes, oatmeal does taste better than a krispy kreme donut :)

keep up the great work!!!

yay for you!!!!! thats willpower, did you even think of it that way? sometimes ill be able to avoid something and not realize til later how excellent my willpower was! thats something to take pride in!!

besides, they're no good for you. you're going to have a beautiful lean oatmeal-fueled body while everyone else is going to to be round and squishy like a kk donut, lol!

i once ate a dozen krispy kreme glazed donuts over the course of one day.

ok over the course of half a day.

it was really shameful.

never again.

good for you!!!

Just reading that makes me hungry. They did the sae thing at my work today. Guy asked if I wanted one. An i always give into peer pressure when it comes to food...that is how i got fat. I said no as well. i stuck by my cup of joe an slim jim. It wasn't healthy, but it wasn't a donut ^^. LOL

Congrats girl!

I live in the boonies so for years and years I heard the raves about krispy creme donuts but did not try one until about a 2 years ago while in an airport.

Yuk.  It's just a dunkin' donut with a different name.  Cakey.  Too sweet.  Sugared white bread.   Where's the crispy part?  blech.  Might as well have a little debbies or a hostess cupcake.
we just got a krispy creme where I live a few years ago, I thought they would be amazing, but they really aren't. It's like eating fluffy air covered in straight sugar... yuck

I hate food that is addicting, it is always really gross, but you can't seem to help yourself!

My downfall is Tim Horton's honey crullers.  Only way I can resists is I tell myself it might be stale and not have that crispness to the edges I LOVE. (like freshly made Jalebies, you have to have them made right)   I've resisted them for years now with that thought( of course if I were not overweight , I'd probably keep on trying to see if I can luck out on a perfect one.)

By the time I add cream and brown sugar(or maple syrup) there's no way storebought donuts can be better than oatmeal.

w00! I mean they have the same energy ecept oatmeal tastes SO much better and is better for you! If you like sweet you can add sugar to oatmeal at only 14 cal per tsp or splenda/honey etc. Or just fruit like me.
<3 oatmeal!

Congratulations Trish, what a great display of willpower.

Your comment about the 'fat pushers' really hit home becuase we have a few in our office and I was the biggest.  I would either bring in Dunkin Donut Munchkins or Bojangles Boberry Biscuts.  I have seen the error of my ways and have vowed to not bring in bad food for the office.

We still have a couple candy ladies and cake days from time to time - but at least I'm not making it worse for everyone else.

congrats!

now all they need to do is make krispy kreme flavored oatmeal!!
This is a HUGE pet-peeve of mine, because hunger is so strongly triggered by smell for me. I would never, EVER, set foot in a Krispy Kreme but when some butthead puts a giant box of them in the kitchen next to the fridge where I keep my wholesome well-planned food, wow does that ever make the day harder!  I keep saying in retaliation I should bring a snack tray of cigarettes and booze, 'cause really it's just about the same thing...
Im with Noelle on that.  While I diet, my lack of temptation made me sometimes feel like a pillar of strength which came tumbling down when daughters boyfriend was baking her cake.  I dont even like particularly like cake (opposed to pies, bronies, cookies, etc) but I sat here laughing at myself by how obviously the smell was making me crazy.

The snack tray of booze is funny cuz I use to say if people have to go outside to smoke, they should not be allowed to eat there highly smelling KFC or McD lunch at their desk.
