Obama Wins Debate
The pundits may not say so and the media seems to be trying to be making a close race out of this (a la Hearst), but those that watched the debate declared it a win for Obama:

Let the fireworks begin.
Well, yes, I agree.
McCain started great. He hit well, he made his points, he brought it down to the issues (and a guy named Joe).
Somewhere in the middle of the debate, though.. he lost that and just started getting angry and impatient. You could tell it if you were watching the splitscreen. His answers became weaker and he made some bad gaffes.
I read the following, and I thing it describes the debates well: If this were a sword fight, it would have been a tie. They both hit hard and they both scored points. However, McCain does not seem to have succeeded in bringing independents over to his side, so in THAT manner, he lost.
I missed the first 30 minutes because my power went out (ugh) but to me, McCain did just seem really angry. Obama called him out on the negative campaigning and the sheisse being said at the rallies and McCain said nothing. There was a chance for him to say something at least about the rallies (and the "Kill Him"s and crap being said) but he didn't and it just made him look like more of a **********.

Enjoy.
Also, I read something today that said if the vote was today Obama would win more electoral votes than McCain and that was even with something like 87 electoral votes being up in the air.

Everyone heard about Joe the Plumber from Ohio, over and over again. Well I live in Ohio. I live in northern Ohio about 75 minutes from Toledo from where Joe the Plumber is supposed to come. The morning radio show checked into Joe the Plumber and can not find Joe to be registered to vote anywhere in Ohio. Ohio's date to register to vote for 2008 is now past.
For those who did not watch the debate: Joe's last name was given. It was apparently available to the media. He did speak to Obama.
Ali the link was grand.
McCain did start off very strong and I was wondering why Obama seemed so flat.. I wanted him to puff up a little bit at first but now I'm glad he didn't. He was calm, cool and collected the entire time. McCain lost it when he went on an on about the mudslinging while Obama said the folks aren't interested in their tit for tat.. they need to know the candidates feelings on important topics. They both got in great jabs too: McCain said he was NOT Bush and Obama got to say he was NOT a terrorist... but the last three debates on Abortion, health care and education was what won it for Obama, IMO. He gave clear, well thought-out plans.
Did anyone else find it distracting when McCain would huff and puff loudly? Obama would be speaking and you would hear this loud sigh.
McCain can clearly not control his temper. Can you imagine him in a meeting with Putin or some other world leader?
Looks like I was clearly wrong about McCain's stance on reproductive rights. I swear his wife was interviewed before the nom at the convention and told Couric they were both opposed to over-turning Roe v Wade. His non litmus test , litmus test gives me great concern.
McCain really frustrated me when he brought up Ayers and Obam's "connection" with him. I seriously wanted to jump through my TV and hit him.
After this debate I'm fairly confident that Obama will be our next president! :)
Did I hear McCain right when he said that anyone that thinks Roe v. Wade was a good decision is not qualified? If so, this concerns me greatly and it should concern you.
You heard him right Dove. First he said he would not use a litmus test for nominating a justice to the court. He said he'd only look at qualifications. Then he said that agreeing with Roe V Wade would not be a qualification he would consider.
Sounds like a litmus test to me.
am not impressed with McCain's performance. I think it was his best showing yet, certainly, but I still see too much fluster and babble.
Of course you liberals think Obama won. Keep towin' the line.............

One side of the news and people say Obama hands down, other side says McCain hands down.
While I personally think they were pretty close, McCain REALLY annoys me with his "my friends" crap, and I TRULY FEAR some of the statements Obama has made. He is very clear that he is a socialist and thinks it is appropriate to take money from me and give it to whom he deems needs it.
No mention yet of THIS moment? Funny.
I fogot about that moment Sun. I loved the blinking and the incredulous look on McCain's face.

Liberals don't tow the line any tighter than the Conservatives do.

You know, I think they both did what their base wanted them to do. The Conservatives were happy that McCain was more agressive, and libs are happy that Obama was calm and for the most part unfrazzled.
Actually, many folk I hear think that Joe the plumber won.

Lol. I'm with you, comrade!

It looked straight out of a cartoon - I was waiting for his eyes to spring out and tongue drop on the table. Just imagining him responding as president to a foreign leader, which still would be better than a Palin wink.
