Obama’s choice for VP—Comments from Hillary supporters?

Quote  |  Reply
Holla!

I am wondering how Hillary supporters are feeling about Obama’s choice for VP?  Clinton could bring 18 Million something votes, but Biden is chosen.  Are supporters okay with this?  Just curious! :)

Hillary is coming out strong for Obama. I certainly hope Hillary supporters wouldn't be prepared to vote McCain out of spite.

I think "Hillary Supporters" (ie anyone who really thought Hillary was ever going to be given a VP nod) need to get real. After the battle between of them, as well as Billy Boy's comments, there wasn't a chance in hell that Hillary was going to get the VP nod.

Operation Chaos claimed success.

Of course it's in the republicans' self-interest to have democrats divided and so it's in their interest to stir up any trouble they can and they obviously hope to whip up hurt feelings and animosity in Clinton's supporters, since they're running ads complaining that Hillary didn't get the VP spot.

newsflash: republicans who voted for hillary during the primary wouldn't have voted for her in the general election -- they wanted to run against her

George Will called this "mischief making" on the part of republicans.

That's a nice way of saying that McCain is following Rush Limbaugh's playbook.

Well, this is what I was wondering, Kathy.  I think it’s something like 20% of Hillary supporters are unsure of what they will do with there vote.  That’s quite a percentage.  I’m sure over time that percentage will decrease as November draws near, but Obama will need every vote he can get.  I’m interested to see how Hillary does the next couple days at the Denver convention.

I agree to a point, HK.  Hillary and Obama battled pretty hard, but Hillary can bring a lot to the table (i.e. votes).  She would have been the strongest pick.  Too bad they can’t get along.  Biden seems like a nice, likable guy.  Actually, of all the dems, he is the only one I could tolerate listening to for a decent amount of time without going crazy.  But, how will he bring to the Obama campaign?

Even though I'm a Hillary supporter, I agree with Obama's choice. I definitely think he made a smart decision.

I know whatever the circumstances are, I'm voting against McCain.
I'm sure the majority of Hillary supporters feel the same way.

Nomo- While I'm sure there were some folks who voted for Hillary to "stir the pot", I think most of her votes were legitimate supporters.

I also think that many folks (that would be dems and republicans!) feel that Hillary not being nominated is news worthy.  Sure the RNC is going to run ads to target Hillary supporters (this is a campain after all), but why can’t people bring up this question?  I don’t think it’s just the republicans.  Are you calling me a mischief maker, nomo?  ;P

Well, someone claiming to be a "loyal Democrat" has launched a website dedicated to that premise, although I can't imagine why anyone who truly feels the same way that Hillary does about important issues would such a thing.

If that site, and Hillary supporters who agree with it, are serious, I hope Hillary can use her influence with them at the convention.

Hillary should back out quietly and graciously and keep that bigmouth husband of hers under control. It doesn't matter what she or her supporters think, the fact is she wasn't chosen, and if she doesn't want the party divided, she'll be mature about the whole thing.

Some Hillary supporters want to vote McCain because they think Obama will be in the white house for 8 years, where as they'd rather try to oppose McCain in four years after his first term.

Makes sense in the long run.

Have you been living under a rock?

She already backed out...a while ago.

People like you make me want to vote McCain.
OMG kiddding, kidddddddding!

IF they care about the same issues, then it really doesn't.  McCain has made no secret of what he'll try to do in office, and he could do a lot in 4 years.  Yeah, he also has a record of changing his mind on issues, but do Hillary supporters really want to have the RvW decision come down to whether or not McCain flip-flops?

Yeah, we're in too much trouble to put off reform for another four years. If that is Hillary's mindset, she loses my vote.

I think that a ticket with a both black man and a woman is not viable. It may not be what we'd like, but that's reality.  Biden is a good choice.  He has the experience and he knows where he comes from, and nobody can question his dedication and hard work.  Anybody who takes Amtrak home every single day instead of living in DC, is ok in my book.  I bet other senators from states close to DC have limo drivers and city apartments too.

I'm not worried about Hillary.  She's strong and she'll play an important part in the Obama presidency in the Senate.  He's going to need strong legislators like her.  And she's young enough to make another run.

Agree.

Ummmm about that... assuming Obama wins and then is re-elected 4 years later, Hillary would be just about as old as McCain is now if she were to run for the POTUS.

If you think the ageism pointed McCain's way is harsh right now, just you wait until the subject is a woman of the same age.

Suffice to say, Hillary will never run for POTUS again, as she's far too old to wait another 9 years.

After Michelle Obama's speech last night, I'm ready to nominate her in four years. :)

Yes, given how many Republicans are supporting Obama, it only makes sense that McCain would go after disgruntled Clinton supporters.

But it says a lot, imo, that these ads, instead of telling Clinton supporters why they should vote for McCain, they are blatantly attempting to stir up hurt feelings.

I'm pretty sure everyone sees through this.

The two people who have formed PUMA & Just Say No Deal, who are raising money (about $50,000 so far) and agitating against Obama and for McCain, also donated money to McCain last year and they also donated money to McCain for his 2000 failed republican presidential nominee campaignYes, this is all mischief-making.

As Debbie Wasserman-Shultz, a staunch Clinton supporter recently said,

"Hillary supports Barack Obama and so do I!"

Gotta say, I find the McCain camp attempt to disrupt the dems' convention rather reprehensible. I was prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt regarding his Bush association, but I see that it's business-as-usual Republican rat-f***ing.
So, let me get this strait, when "republicans" voice support for Obama, its a legitimate phenomenon of open minded people who have just seen the light of the Obamessiah, but when Dems voice support for McCain, its all just Evil-Rush Limbaugh-inspired rat-Fvcking dirty tricks? Good to know we have all maintained our objectiveness here in the CC forums. (yeah, right)

Pardon me while I go back to my harem of female rats, the one in the corner is making bedroom eyes at me right now.
