Obsessed?

Quote  |  Reply

Hey Guys!

This is only my first week on CC, and I've been doing pretty well so far.  I've found that I've been more conscious about what I eat, which I think is good, but I'm just worried that maybe I'm thinking about it too much?

I have a good body image, I don't have an eating disorder, I just tended to overeat or eat the wrong things in the past.  I weigh 160 right now (I'm aiming for 125) and have lost 5 pounds since starting about a week ago.  I know 1-3 pounds is usually recommended per week, but I'm assuming the extra couple is just water weight?

I've been keeping my calorie intake at around 1200-1300 and exercise about 20 minutes a day, but thinking about the calories, and what I'm going to eat is occupying more of my thought than it ever did.  Is this just a part of switching to a healthier lifestyle and eating habit, or is thinking about food prep, and calories when I'm not eating getting obsessive?

Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Hi girl,

Well done on ur 5lb weight loss! its always great seeing a shift in weight for the better!

I can tell you from experience...be very careful... I suffered from an eating disorder a few yrs back, and was forced into recovery when i met my husband. I am sooo scared i relapse(although a part of me just wishes il be as thin as i was). I am also very obsessed with counting cals, planning meals, etc.

I'd suggest, you try do other things(when not eating), that'll take ur mind off of food, etc. Its not a nice cycle to be in...Trust me, i know ;)

Goodluck on your Healthy Lifestyle goals!! I'm sure you'll be just fine!

I wouldn't worry about becoming obessed.  I have been using CC for about 2 months.  I have lost 18lbs.  When i first started it was imparitive that i think about what was going into my mouth all the time.  I would plan my meals for the day first thing in the morning.  I work out of town and always eat out so being prepared as to how many calories i am going to intake at Lunch was imparitive to see results.  Now i don't have to do that as much.  I have gotten into a routine and now have an idea of what calories are in what.

I started at 167lbs and am now at 149.  I eat est. 1200 calories a day.  This is only Monday-Friday afternoon.  I relax on the weekend so that i don't get burned out.  I go to the gym 4 days a week for 1hr, 30 min of cardio and 30 min of weights.

Hang in there.  It gets easier.

Thank-you so much for your helpful responses girls!  It's so nice to have supportive people around.

i think that it is really important that you are thinking about food. it means you care about reaching your goal and you are conscious about what you put in your body. just make sure you don't let food control you. i've had that problem and it does lead to eating disorders. you control your body and what you put in it!
